Planting seeds

Pepper seedlings can be picked when two leaves at least 5 mm long appear on the plants. As a rule, this happens a month after sowing the seeds. It is better to dive pepper into cups with a diameter of 7 cm, one or two.

When to sow pepper seedlings for open ground? At about the same time as for greenhouses, but in the southern regions of our country, they shift by about 3 weeks by the beginning of the calendar year. Such varieties of sweet pepper seeds as Denis, Arsenal, Slastena, Heracles or Novocherkassky have established themselves as species that give an excellent harvest. They are very often grown by amateur gardeners. You can pick up other varieties of sweet pepper, which, through the efforts of professionals and amateurs, were bred for cultivation in the middle lane in open ground.

Where to determine seedlings

In the country, in the garden, most gardeners plant not only potatoes and tomatoes. The topic of growing seedlings of pepper and the time of its planting is considered relevant. And the question of whether it is hot pepper or sweet is not important, the essence of this does not change due to identical agricultural technology and a slight difference in varieties. A rich harvest of pepper can only be achieved if grown through seedlings. It has a long period of fruit ripening, therefore, in order to get a good harvest, you should worry about the future already in the winter.

The readiness of seedlings for planting is determined by the number of leaves on the plants. Seedlings of cucumbers, zucchini and squash should have 3-4 true leaves, tomato - 8-11 well-developed leaves and buds of the first flower brush, pepper and eggplant - 8-12 leaves and flowers, and on some plants - small ovaries, cabbage - 5 -6 leaves.

Peppers can be planted immediately in the ground with dry seeds or pre-soaked.

So, let's look at the question of when to plant peppers from the very beginning. I would like to say a little about the seeds themselves. When buying them, you should pay attention to the packaging time and shelf life. If the seeds are up to two years old, you can be sure of their germination, their more respectable age is not welcome - you risk being left without pepper at all.

The seedlings have 6 full leaves and the 7th and 8th have already appeared. Another week and the seedlings will be ready for planting in open ground.

Experienced gardeners advise first to hold about 40 degrees Celsius in water for about 20 minutes, and then put it in a damp cloth until the roots of most seeds appear.

Agrotechnics of bitter and sweet pepper is in many ways similar to the cultivation of tomatoes. But peppers, as it turned out, are much more sensitive to temperature changes and the effects of cold air currents. This means that it is necessary to choose varieties of bitter and sweet peppers for cultivation in open ground with a great eye on the weather and climate calendar of a certain area.

Pepper has been cultivated in warm countries since time immemorial and enjoys well-deserved love from both amateur gardeners and culinary specialists. Taking into account that not all varieties have time to ripen in central Russia, many are interested in which variety is best suited to our climatic conditions and when to plant peppers. Let's say right away - experienced gardeners they try to plant early and ultra-early varieties of sweet and bitter peppers. Here are just a few of them:

If you want your pepper to please you with harvests, carefully cut off the first flowers so that the plant does not spend all its strength on the production of a single fruit, but directs them to the development of the bush.

The lunar landing calendar was created by people thousands of years ago. The change in the phases of the celestial body clearly showed the passage of time. The cyclic nature of the event and the knowledge that the Moon has a (gravitational and magnetic) effect on the surface of the Earth and all living things made it possible to think about the dependence of the crop on lunar days- this is how the vegetable planting calendar appeared, with the help of which the planting and sowing season was organized, on which, in turn, the survival of people depended in those days. After buying the treasured seeds, a natural question arises: "When to sow pepper for seedlings?" The distillation period can take from 5 to 30, sometimes more, days. The older the seeds, the longer they have this time. The normal period for seedlings of fresh seeds is 2-3 weeks. Reasoning on the topic of when to sow early pepper for seedlings should be based on the timing of its planting in the ground. Unlike tomatoes, which perfectly tolerate relocation to a permanent place, peppers are best planted after the first flower in the first fork. As a rule, this happens after 2-2.5 months from the moment of seed germination. If we look at the dates, then the pepper seeds that have risen from March 1 to March 15 can be planted in the ground from May 10, and the sowing of seeds will take place from February 20 to March 5. How well the choice is made planting material, will depend on its germination and future harvest. Pepper seeds are characterized by a long germination period, this is evidenced by the special structure of the culture seed, which means that it is proposed to carry out artificial activation. Eggplants are placed after crops such as cucumber, cabbage, onions, carrots, etc. Eggplant seeds are viable for 3-4 years. Before sowing, seeds are first soaked for a day in warm water, germinate and harden. Seeds are sown in boxes to a depth of about 2 cm according to the scheme 5x5 or 6x6 cm, followed by picking. This procedure is done from the end of February to the beginning of March. I covered the decomposed seeds with moist soil, a layer of about 1.5 cm. And I didn’t water it anymore. The age of seedlings of peppers for planting in the ground should be 70 days. Since the seeds germinate in about 7-10 days, it turns out that 80 days should pass from sowing to transplanting seedlings. March - the first half of the month is reserved for pruning trees and bushes, spraying them; planting seeds for vegetable seedlings; cleaning areas under the lawn - planting it, mulching; the middle of the month already involves sowing dill, parsley, lettuce in open ground; from the middle to the end of the month, planting tuberous and planting vegetable seedlings is already possible; Calendar of gardeners for March by day

To do this, make small bags from gauze and put the seeds prepared for planting in them. Immerse in a solution with microelements (Ideal or Elin fertilizers) and leave for 12-14 hours. After that, the seeds must be removed and dried. It is worth paying attention that it is not required to wash them after this procedure.
Before planting, the seeds can be treated with a growth stimulator, which will lead to friendly shoots. Most gardeners-vegetarians with many years of experience recommend to obtain big harvest remove the central flower on the plant, formed from the first branch. The air temperature in protected ground during cultivation should be maintained at 18-20 degrees. Shoots appear as germinated seeds on the fourth day, and not germinated on the ninth day after sowing. Seedlings are fed mainly with mineral fertilizers - superphosphate, potassium chloride, etc. With normal heating of the soil in early June, seedlings are planted in prepared holes. Approximate width 15-18cm. Five days later, the first loops of peppers appear. Seedlings should be placed under a lamp or on a windowsill so that the sprouts receive enough light and do not stretch. For example, take 2 g wood ash per 1 liter of water (the mixture should stand for a day with frequent stirring). Then the seeds are folded into gauze bags and lowered into the nutrient mixture for 3 hours. After that, rinse and dry everything. It should be understood that if you want to grow seedlings of pepper, which will subsequently give a good harvest, you need to do right choice containers for planting seeds. It is best carried out in small cups or special cassettes, but a box or low pot will adversely affect growth. It is worth remembering that peppers do not really like picks. Planting it big company into a common bowl with subsequent picking will lead to a delay in the development of seedlings for about a week or two. Therefore, it is best that pepper seeds are planted in small containers.
When correct formation plants should have 3-4 shoots with five to six fruits. The fruits should be evenly spaced. The remaining flowers and ovaries should be removed. Water the plant 2-3 times during the growth period of the crop to maintain sufficient moisture, without waterlogging and dryness of the soil, thereby preventing a decrease in yield. The fruits are harvested at the end of summer, the color of the fruit should be purple, and the length is 15-20 cm. After a day, you can observe how small roots hatch. Germinated seeds can be planted in the substrate. The soil mixture should be prepared a few days before planting. The soil must be warmed up room temperature. You can also mix the substrate yourself, which will require the following components in equal proportions: lowland peat, manure humus and soddy land. Pepper is a valuable vegetable crop, it contains vitamin C. Pepper is demanding on heat, and therefore it must be placed in a well-heated and wind-protected area. Pepper loves fertile and loamy soils. During the period of growth and development, a sufficient amount of sunlight is needed, about 8 hours a day. At the age of seedlings, pepper loves frequent watering with water at room temperature. Demanding for potash fertilizers. Prefers warm soil and air, but does not tolerate low temperatures(at -1). I immediately put them on the rack under the lamp and after a few hours the peppers turned green merrily. By the way, I no longer put any seedlings in the dark. Let it not be so warm, but they will not, only after hatching, stretch upwards with all their might. Planting parthenocapic cucumbers March There is another method of seed germination, which is considered more effective - this is bubbling, which involves the processing of planting material in oxygen-saturated water. This method of processing pepper seeds allows you to accelerate the emergence of seedlings. This method is good 1-2 weeks before planting seedlings. Everyone strives to use their greenhouse to the fullest. But in order to get a return on such plantings, you still need to listen to the advice of experts and not violate the rules developed over many years of practice: when to sow pepper, how to place seedlings. As a rule, pepper is grown in greenhouses, tunnels, greenhouses or open beds. But the best option, of course, there remains a greenhouse. Pepper roots do not tolerate damage. Peppers do not tolerate transplanting, especially in early age. Does not like soil hyperacidity. Does not tolerate manure and peat, increased doses of mineral and nitrogen fertilizers, sudden changes in temperature, watering pepper cold water not desirable, direct sunlight does not have a very good effect on the development and cultivation of pepper.
On the fifth day, the peppers looked already quite well done and I decided that it was time to dive them so that they could continue to grow and develop. They were very cramped in the buckets. When to plant pepper seeds for seedlings, we figured it out. In order to get a good harvest in the summer, you need to grow strong seedlings. First we prepare the seeds. We disinfect in a weak potassium permanganate solution for half an hour. Then we wash in water and soak for a day in an ash solution. An ash solution is prepared in the following way: dilute 1 teaspoon of wood ash in 1 liter of water. Then we spray the seeds with water and wrap them in a damp cloth bag. After a few days, the seeds will hatch and they can be planted in the ground. Excessive watering of seedlings can lead to such a dangerous disease as black leg, which leads to the death of plants. Therefore, watering should be regular (it is advisable to install an automatic drip irrigation system). 7 8
3, 27, 30,31 17, 30 April To do this, it is recommended to prepare a three-liter jar and fill it with water at a temperature of 20 ° C by two thirds. Lower the jar to the bottom and turn on the compressor. After the appearance of bubbles, lower the seeds into a jar for a day. After that, take it out and dry it.
Before planting seedlings, it must be hardened off. This must be done in order to accustom the plant to the sun, wind, daily temperature fluctuations, in general, to fresh air. Hardening begins a few weeks before planting such a heat-loving crop as pepper in the ground. What is the best preparation method? Graduality is important here. Seedlings are taken out to the balcony, to the street. You can even just open the window, increasing the ventilation time every day. But it should be borne in mind that the temperature outside must be at least +13, otherwise the seedlings may freeze. Pepper varieties Picking seedlings of peppers Fill a small container with soil for seedlings. We make grooves 1 cm deep and plant the seeds. There should be a distance of at least 5 cm between the grooves, and 3 cm between the seeds. Lightly sprinkle the seeds with earth and moisten the soil with water. After germination, the first week we keep the seedlings in a room with good lighting, where the temperature is kept within 14 degrees Celsius. Then gradually increase the temperature to 25 degrees. As the soil dries, we water it with water (1 time per week is enough).
In order for the seedlings not to stretch and be more prepared for open ground conditions, you should monitor the illumination of the room in which it is located. Lack of light leads to fragility of the processes. To do this, put all the seedlings on the southeast side. If in your apartment, all windows face north side, and there is no sun, then it is necessary to additionally illuminate the seedlings early in the morning and in the evening. Using fluorescent lamps to illuminate seedlings is extremely impractical in cramped conditions. There are powerful LEDs designed specifically for plants. Celery root 3, 29, 30

And the last method used in the treatment of seeds is hardening. With its help, plants will be able to safely endure the vagaries of nature. After carrying out the necessary disinfection, it is recommended to soak the pepper seeds in warm water and leave them to swell. Then immediately put on the bottom shelf of the refrigerator for 24 hours. Then let them dry. You can start sowing pepper seeds for seedlings.

In the absence of a greenhouse, the planting of pepper seeds has to be planned for the month of February, so that by the time of transplantation, the seedlings are about 100 days old. It is not recommended to pamper your seedlings with excessive watering, as this can lead to a disease, popularly referred to as the black leg. But you should not allow the soil to dry out either.

Pepper varieties are divided into sweet and hot. Sweet peppers are suitable for fresh, stuffed, canned consumption, and hot peppers are used as a seasoning for other vegetables.

Before transplanting, be sure to thoroughly water the seedlings so that the clod of earth is wet. Dry earth falls apart and can tear thin roots.

About a month after planting the seeds (in the phase of two true leaves), the seedlings are picked. Water the seedlings abundantly 1-2 hours before picking. We take cups with a volume of 0.5 liters with a drainage hole, fill 2/3 with fertile soil, make a recess in the center and transplant the seedlings. Deepen plants to cotyledon leaves. We pour water.

The use of LEDs makes possible cultivation seedlings not on the windowsill (you cannot plant a large number of seedlings of vegetables and flowers on the windowsill), but in a separate rack, home mini-greenhouse, greenhouse. Lamps are installed on each tier of the rack, and LEDs do not consume much electricity.

Only under these conditions can we say that this is the correct seedlings of pepper. It is worth abandoning the one on which there are flowers or fruits. This is a guarantee that there will be no harvest. In dry weather, the plant requires abundant watering. Otherwise, due to lack of moisture, the fruit may be bitter, and the flesh will be thin and dry. Pepper is a lover of warm soil, which means that it is best to plant it in soil warmed up to +15 degrees. Pale greens and slow fruit growth may indicate a lack of proper nutrition. You can feed the plants with mullein or compost tea.

During the period of growing seedlings, it will need to be fed a couple of times. Proper seedling seeds will have to receive the first dressing two weeks after the first shoots appear. The second is carried out a few days before planting the plants in the ground. The composition of the nutrient mixture includes: urea - 5 g, superphosphates - 30 g, potash fertilizers - 10 g (per 10 liters of water). A good top dressing is obtained from a mixture of wood ash and nettle infusion in a ratio of 1:10. It is worth remembering that potassium chloride is contraindicated for pepper.

Pepper prefers frequent but moderate watering with warm water. After each, the earth must be plowed, remembering that root system culture is very close to the surface. Therefore, the procedure is carried out very carefully, trying not to damage the roots of the plant.
Since peppers and eggplants do not like picking, I immediately put them in cups. And in order not to waste dishes, a place on the windowsill, I plant only the most viable ones, that is, already with sprouts

The most optimal time for planting pepper seeds for seedlings is the end of February and the beginning of March. Of course, you can plant pepper seeds earlier, provided that your greenhouse is very good. The latest date when you can sow pepper seedlings is mid-March. Thus, the gardener always has almost a month in stock - from mid-February to mid-March. Usually delayed with landing by the first spring month in low sunlight. If you realized it too late, there is no point in planting, because the pepper will not bear full fruit. After all, it will be necessary to transplant seedlings from the greenhouse already when the soil warms up well, that is, in May.
Weight useful properties has hot peppers, not to say about which it would be simply a sin. Oddly enough, it is popular not only in the preparation of individual dishes or in conservation, but also as a strengthening agent for hair, as well as warming for colds and inflammatory diseases.

I always plant dry in a cake box, it turns out a greenhouse with high humidity, so I don’t see the point in sprouting. I plant seeds in excess, so even with poor germination I will get as much as I need

And gently knead the soil around the stem.

In February, I started planting peppers and want to take a detailed look at all the stages of working on growing my strong and healthy seedlings of peppers.

When is the best time to plant pepper seeds for seedlings?

In January, it is too early to plant pepper seeds, as this winter month there is still too little light, as a result, the peppers will be sluggish and weak, and as a result, you will not get a good harvest from such plants. Before sowing pepper seeds, check the planting dates indicated on the seed package.

Keep in mind that pepper is only suitable seedling method cultivation due to the long growing season of 120-150 days.

The first sowing of seeds must be carried out already from mid-February. Pepper seeds do not always germinate well, if, for example, they were overdried by the manufacturer, then the germination time can increase up to several weeks.

The seeds of their peppers usually germinate much faster than purchased ones, usually after 1 week. Purchased pepper seeds will take 10-14 days before the first sprouts appear. This fact can be explained by the fact that purchased seeds are subjected to machining and are often overdried by the manufacturer to increase shelf life.

So, 2 and 3 decades of February the ideal time for planting pepper seeds for seedlings. The latest landing date is mid-March. If you plant the seeds later, then you will not have to count on full-fledged fruits this year.

Experienced gardeners advise against soaking pepper seeds before planting, as this procedure will speed up seed germination by only a few days. The soil before sowing the seeds must be moistened so that it is easier for the seeds to shed the shell from the seeds during germination.

If you make the soil yourself, you can add humus, in this case, additional feeding is not needed.

Seeds are planted in prepared soil to a depth no more than 2-3 cm. After that, the containers must be covered with polyethylene and placed in a room with a temperature 22-26 degrees.

Check sprouts periodically. It is important not to miss this moment, since at the first shoots it is necessary to remove the film from the boxes with seedlings.

After germination, move the seedling boxes to a cooler room with a temperature of about 20 degrees. Pepper seedlings are very fond of light, so be sure to organize additional lighting seedlings, especially on cloudy days.

Pepper doesn't like pick and transplant, because their root system is easily damaged and then restored for a long time. Best used for sowing pepper seeds peat cups, which, after landing in the ground, will simply turn into humus.

If you could not find such cups or you do not like working with them, then sow the peppers in containers at a distance of 2-3 cm from each other.

Seedlings should not be watered often, preferably with water at room temperature, or you can warm it up a little. It is enough to spray pepper seedlings once a month.

Monitor the condition of the seedlings constantly. Pepper does not tolerate drying out of the soil, so increase watering if necessary.

Stocky and powerful seedlings can be planted in open ground at the age of 60-80 days. At this age, the first buds are already appearing on the bushes.

The time of planting seedlings must be determined based on the weather. Usually this is the beginning of June, when the risk of frost returning is practically eliminated.

Almost every owner of a personal plot grows tasty and healthy peppers in his garden. Since these heat-loving vegetables grow and ripen for a long time, their seeds are sown for seedlings in February or March. Before planting in the ground, seedlings should grow and develop at home for at least two months. So that friendly seedlings appear, and grow good seedling, many gardeners plant pepper seeds according to the lunar calendar on certain dates and take care of the plants according to all the rules. We will describe in detail the timing of planting in 2019 and the nuances of caring for seedlings of vegetables in our article. Follow the dedicated link and you can find out when and how to plant and grow these vegetables and flowers.

Ground yielding seeds should be sown during the waxing moon. Since peppers are precisely such plants, it is not recommended to sow them on the days of the Full Moon and New Moon.

According to the lunar calendar, planting peppers for seedlings in 2019 should be carried out on the following dates:

  1. January: 10th, 11th, 18th, 31st.
  2. February: 1, 2, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 15, 24 (these are the most favorable days). Just favorable days for landing - February 13, 14, 16, 17, 18.
  3. March: 3, 4, 10 to 14, 17, 26.
  4. April: 2, 3, 4, 9, 13, 16, 25.

You should refrain from sowing on the following days:

  • January: 6, 21;
  • February: 3 to 5, 19 and 20;
  • March: 5, 6, 21 and 31;
  • April; 5, 19.

How to plant peppers?

Before planting peppers for seedlings, it is necessary to prepare seeds and soil.

seed processing

Experienced summer residents advise soaking the seeds before sowing, as this procedure speeds up the emergence of seedlings.

Soaking Pepper Seeds:

  1. Planting material is placed for 5-6 hours in water with a temperature of +50 degrees. Seeds should swell in warm water.
  2. After that, the seeds are wrapped in gauze or a cloth, soaked for 2-3 days in water with a temperature of about +20 degrees.
  3. When the seeds hatch, they can be used for sowing.

Soil preparation

Soil for seedlings can be bought at a specialized store or prepared independently. For this you need to prepare:

  • garden humus - 2 parts;
  • garden soil - 1 part;
  • sand - 1 part;
  • a few tablespoons of wood ash.

All ingredients are thoroughly mixed. To destroy fungal spores and pest larvae in the soil, it is recommended to sterilize it in a microwave or oven before use. The hot soil mixture is laid out in seedlings and allowed to cool.

Sowing seeds

Pepper seeds should be planted to a depth of 1.5-2 cm with a distance of 5 cm from each other. Crops are watered with warm water from a spray bottle and covered with film or glass from above. Seedling boxes are placed in a warm place where the air temperature is not lower than +21 degrees.

Since pepper seedlings do not tolerate a pick, many gardeners plant seeds in peat or disposable small cups.

Growing seedlings of pepper

At home, the emerging shoots are placed in a well-lit place without direct sunlight. The air temperature should be around +26…+28 degrees during the day. At night, plants need colder conditions and temperatures within + 10 ... + 15 degrees.

The soil in the seedlings should be moderately moist at all times. In no case should it be allowed to dry out, otherwise the still small and weak seedlings will wither. However, the soil should not be too wet. In dampness, plants often get sick with a "black leg" and quickly die. For irrigation, only settled warm water is used.

So that the seedlings do not stretch, she may need additional artificial lighting. Light day for peppers should last from 7 am to 9 pm.

In a room with dry air, young plants can be affected by pests. To prevent this, seedlings are recommended to be sprayed daily with settled water.

Picking should be done when two true leaves appear on the shoots. From seedling boxes, plants are transplanted into disposable containers (cups) or peat pots. The size of the cups should be approximately 8x8 cm.

The seedlings are pre-watered and after about an hour, with the help of a fork or a special small spatula, together with a clod of earth, they are transferred to a pot. Seedlings should be buried to the cotyledon leaves. Plants are watered and exposed to a dark place from the sun.

At correct transplant and care, seedlings quickly take root in a new container and grow well. Two weeks after picking, peppers are fed with special fertilizers for seedlings. You can use Fertika Lux, Krepysh, Mortar, Agricola. Re-feeding is carried out two weeks after the first.

10-14 days before planting peppers in open ground, plants begin to harden. To do this, they are taken out every day to outdoor balcony or garden area. The air temperature should not be lower than +13 degrees. Seedlings should not stand in a draft and should not be exposed to direct Sun rays. On the first day, the duration of the plants in the fresh air should be no more than an hour. Every day, the time the seedlings stay in the new conditions increases.

Planting peppers in a greenhouse

If your site has a greenhouse or greenhouse, and you have grown greenhouse varieties of peppers, then when the seedlings reach the age of at least 55 days and grow to a height of 25 cm, they can be planted. At this time, each plant should already have at least 12 leaves and formed buds in their axils.

When to plant peppers in a greenhouse? The landing time depends on weather conditions. Land for planting should warm up to a temperature of +15 degrees. Therefore, in Siberia, the Urals and other not very warm regions, vegetables are planted in a greenhouse no earlier than May 15th.

The soil before planting is fertilized with potash-phosphorus fertilizers and watered abundantly.

Planting scheme for peppers:

  1. Row spacing should be 35 to 60 cm.
  2. Undersized early ripe varieties planted at a distance of 15 cm from each other.
  3. The distance between medium-sized plants should be 25 cm.
  4. Vigorous bushes are planted with a distance of 35 cm from each other.

Plantings are watered, and the soil around them is compacted and sprinkled with peat.

Planting pepper in the ground

Many summer residents grow varieties of peppers that grow well in open ground. They are planted in the ground when the weather is warm outside and frosts have passed. This usually happens in late May - early June.

You can plant peppers after cucumbers, pumpkins, onions, carrots, zucchini, green manure. After physalis, pepper, tomato, potato and eggplant, peppers cannot be grown.

Bed preparation:

  1. In autumn, when digging into the garden, they bring organic fertilizers(5 kg per 1 sq. m) and potassium with phosphorus (50 g per 1 sq. m).
  2. In spring, the soil is fertilized with ammonium nitrate (40 g per 1 sq. M).
  3. A few days before planting, the soil is disinfected blue vitriol(1 tablespoon per bucket of water).

Holes for planting peppers are made with a distance of 40 to 50 cm. The distance between rows should be at least 60 cm. A spoonful of mineral fertilizer is added to each hole, which is mixed with the soil.

Watered plants, together with a clod of earth, are taken out of pots and placed in prepared holes. If the seedling grew in peat pots, then everything is placed in the hole together. The roots are covered with earth and watered well. It is necessary to ensure that the root neck of the plants is on the same level with the surface of the earth. The soil around the plantings is covered with mulch in the form of peat.

In some regions, at night until mid-June, the temperature can be below +13 degrees. Peppers like higher temperatures, so it is recommended to cover them at night.

Now you know how and when to plant peppers for seedlings. From correct sowing, planting and caring for seedlings depends on the future harvest of healthy and tasty sweet peppers.

Rhubarb can not be found in every garden plot. It's a pity. This plant is a storehouse of vitamins and can be widely used in cooking. What is not prepared from rhubarb: soups and cabbage soup, salads, delicious jam, kvass, compotes and juices, candied fruits and marmalade, and even wine. But that's not all! A large green or red rosette of plant leaves, reminiscent of burdock, acts as a beautiful backdrop for annuals. Not surprisingly, rhubarb can also be seen in flower beds.

3 delicious sandwiches - cucumber sandwich, chicken sandwich, cabbage and meat sandwich - a great idea for a quick snack or for a picnic in nature. Only fresh vegetables, juicy chicken and cream cheese and some spices. There is no onion in these sandwiches, if you wish, you can add an onion marinated in balsamic vinegar to any of the sandwiches, this will not spoil the taste. Having quickly prepared snacks, it remains to collect a picnic basket and go to the nearest green lawn.

Depending on the variety group, the age of seedlings suitable for planting in open ground is: for early tomatoes - 45-50 days, medium ripening - 55-60 and late terms - at least 70 days. When planting seedlings of tomatoes at a younger age, the period of its adaptation to new conditions is significantly extended. But success in obtaining a high-quality crop of tomatoes also depends on the careful implementation of the basic rules for planting seedlings in open ground.

unpretentious plants The “second plan” of sansevieria does not seem boring to those who appreciate minimalism. They are better than other indoor decorative foliage stars for collections that require minimal maintenance. The stable decorative effect and extreme endurance of only one type of sansevieria are also combined with compactness and very fast growth - Khan's rosette sansevieria. The squat rosettes of their stiff leaves create striking clusters and patterns.

One of the brightest months garden calendar pleasantly surprises with the balance of the distribution of favorable and unsuccessful days for working with plants according to the lunar calendar. Gardening and gardening in June can be done throughout the month, while the unfavorable periods are very short and still allow you to do useful work. There will be their optimal days for sowing with plantings, and for pruning, and for a pond, and even for construction work.

Meat with mushrooms in a pan is an inexpensive hot dish that is suitable for a regular lunch and for a festive menu. Pork will cook quickly, veal and chicken too, so this meat is preferable for the recipe. Mushrooms - fresh champignons, in my opinion, the best choice for homemade stew. Forest gold - mushrooms, boletus and other goodies are best harvested for the winter. Boiled rice or mashed potatoes are ideal as a side dish.

I love ornamental shrubs, especially unpretentious and with an interesting, non-trivial foliage color. I have different Japanese spireas, Thunberg barberries, black elderberry ... And there is one special shrub that I will talk about in this article - the viburnum vesicle. To make my dream of a low maintenance garden come true, it's probably the perfect fit. At the same time, it is able to diversify the picture in the garden very much, moreover, from spring to autumn.

June is not accidentally one of the favorite months of gardeners. The first harvest, new crops in the vacant places, the rapid growth of plants - all this cannot but rejoice. But the main enemies of gardeners and gardeners - pests and weeds - also this month use every opportunity to spread. Planting work is on the wane this month, and seedling planting is at its peak. The lunar calendar in June for vegetables is balanced.

Many owners of cottages, equipping the territory, think about creating a lawn. Imagination draws, as a rule, magical pictures - a smooth carpet of green grass, a hammock, a deck chair, a barbecue and lovely trees and shrubs around the perimeter ... But, faced with the breakdown of the lawn in practice, many are surprised to learn that it is not so easy to create a beautiful, even lawn. And, it would seem, everything is done correctly, but here and there incomprehensible bumps appear or weeds sprout.

June chart garden work able to surprise anyone with its richness. In June, even lawns and ponds require attention. Alone ornamental plants have already completed flowering and need pruning, others are just getting ready for the upcoming show. And donate ornamental garden in order to take better care of the ripening crop - the idea is not the best. In the June lunar calendar, there is time to plant new perennials and potted compositions.

Cold pork leg terrine is a meat appetizer from the category of budget recipes, because pork legs are one of the cheapest parts of the carcass. Despite the modesty of the ingredients, appearance The food and taste is top notch! Translated from French, this “game dish” is a cross between a pate and a casserole. Since there were fewer game hunters in times of technological progress, terrine is made more often from livestock meat, fish, vegetables, and cold terrines are also made.

In pretty pots or trendy florariums, on walls, tables and window sills, succulents can last weeks without watering. They do not change their character and do not perceive conditions that are comfortable for most capricious indoor plants. And their diversity will allow everyone to find their favorite. Similar either to stones, or to bizarre flowers, or to extravagant sticks or lace, fashionable succulents have long been not limited to cacti and fat women.

Trifle with strawberries is a light dessert common in England, the USA and Scotland. I think this dish is prepared everywhere, only called differently. Trifle consists of 3-4 layers: fresh fruit or fruit jelly, biscuit biscuit or biscuit, whipped cream. Usually they prepare custard for a layer, but for a light dessert they prefer to do without it, whipped cream is enough. This dessert is prepared in a deep transparent salad bowl so that the layers are visible.

Weeds are bad. They stop growing cultivated plants. Some wild herbs and shrubs are poisonous or may cause allergies. At the same time, many weeds can be of great benefit. They are used and how medicinal herbs, and as an excellent mulch or green manure component, and as a deterrent harmful insects and rodents. But in order to properly fight or use this or that plant for the good, it must be identified.

Good day everyone!

Our today's gardening theme is dedicated to such a popular garden plant like a pepper.

It belongs to the type of vegetables that any self-respecting gardener will definitely plant in his summer cottage.

Pepper came to us from Central America back in the 15th century and is still an indispensable crop for any garden. To date, there are about 2 thousand varieties of pepper, but they can all be divided into two groups such as sweet and bitter.

Most often, we plant sweet varieties of pepper, such as the bell pepper we all know. This is an annual with simple leaves and flowers collected in a bunch, having a white or purple corolla. The fruit of the pepper is a berry, false hollow, three or four-celled. Takovo botanical description pepper.

Growing peppers in most gardeners begins with the acquisition of seeds and planting them for seedlings.

When to plant (sow) pepper for seedlings in 2019 according to the lunar calendar

In most cases, while planting any horticultural crops, we focus on data lunar calendar. Determining favorable days from it, we begin to conduct certain work.

As for pepper specifically, it is best to plant seeds for seedlings in February and March. These are the most favorable months for such work. Moreover, late varieties are best planted in early February, and early varieties at the end.

However, for the northern regions of the country, pepper planting for seedlings is carried out already at the end of January, beginning of February. And below I will explain why this happens.

The most favorable days for planting pepper according to the lunar calendar:

  • in February 2019 - 6th, 11th, 12th, 17th
  • in March - 7, 12, 15
  • in April - 7, 12, 18

During the new moon, which falls on February 5, March 6, April 5, it is not recommended to work with plants. As for the full moon, in February 2019 it will be February 19, and this day is also not very favorable for landings.

March is the most favorable month for working with pepper, and indeed, for growing any seedlings. Here the daylight hours are already lengthening, and the sun pleases more and more every day.

  • Most good days days for planting work will be: March 7, 12 and 15. During the period of the new moon from March 6, as well as on the full moon of March 21, work is not recommended. These are the worst days.

Peppers are planted for seedlings in April. good days I have already indicated above, and on the full moon on April 19, and on the new moon on the 5th, it is better not to carry out any landings.

When planting seeds in planting containers, it is necessary to take into account such a moment that the age of pepper seedlings by the time it is transplanted into the ground should be from 50 to 70 days.

So, for example, if you plant it on March 7, then it will be necessary to transplant it into the ground on May 19 (70 days), seedlings on March 12 - into the ground - May 10 (age 60 days) and seedlings on March 15, then we plant in the ground on May 25 (the age is also 70 days, which is the most successful).

How to plant pepper seeds for seedlings

Before starting planting work, it is necessary to determine the timing. For pepper, early planting in open ground is not typical. The longer it grows seedlings, the better and stronger the plants will be later.

This is especially true of the northern regions of our country. In apartments in winter, as a rule, it is quite cool, especially on the windowsill, where our seedlings stand. And there are almost no sunny days. In this regard, the development of the plant is slow. For good growth and the development of sprouts needs an air temperature of 20 - 30 degrees, and bright sunlight. In winter, neither one nor the other is in the apartment. Therefore, more time is needed for growth and development.

Therefore, many gardeners in the northern regions of our country sow seeds already in late January or early February. In the southern regions, they are sown in late February or early March.

However, if you have good greenhouse, in which pepper can be planted already in April, then the seeds can be planted a little earlier.

What is the best way to grow

This question worries many gardeners. Let's deal with it.

Pepper seeds can be grown in individual pots, or in shared boxes. Growing in a separate container is considered ideal. Pepper is very sensitive to various kinds of transplants, and it takes a long time to get used to new conditions. For a while, it may even stop growing.

But how much space do you need for this? a large number pots?! But you still need to comply with all the conditions for each of the plants. Keep them warm in cold weather, provide access to light. Therefore, seeds are sown, as a rule, in a common container, and then they dive.

Someone thinks that growing seedlings in peat pots is considered the most optimal. But some gardeners have a completely different opinion. And they believe that moisture evaporates strongly through the walls of such pots and the earth dries up. If you start watering more often, then the rapid growth of the root system will begin. The roots will begin to penetrate the walls of the pot and get stuck there.

When you plant plants in the ground, the pots need to be removed. And this procedure will definitely damage their roots. It is believed that seedlings can be planted directly in peat pots, and that they allegedly rot in the soil. Maybe so, but the time for this action takes much longer than the roots of the plant grow. And this means that the walls of the pot simply will not allow the roots to develop.

Therefore, it is ideal to sow the seeds in polyethylene cylinders, or glasses. Often used kefir bags, or cylinders made of plastic bottles. But do not forget that it is necessary to make holes at the bottom to drain excess water.

What land to use

To grow good seedlings, you need good fertile soil. Peppers love just such a land - nutritious, loose and airy.

The best soil is, of course, your own garden land. You can prepare in advance the so-called turf land. Then mix it with garden soil. And the proportions will be like this.

  • bucket of garden seedlings
  • half a bucket of sod land
  • two handfuls of peat
  • manure humus

And someone adds a little more sand.

In addition, based on 10 kg of the mixture, you can add a glass of ash and a teaspoon of fertilizer (mainly superphosphate) to it.

If the land is taken from your garden, then it is considered environmentally friendly. And cooked in the proportions that we indicated above, it is also alive. The smallest organisms that are useful for the further development of the plant live in it.

In this regard, such land should not be steamed, doused with boiling water, or fried before planting seeds.

If the land for seedlings is taken from a greenhouse, or from a garden bed, then they can live in it. various pests and pathogens. Such land must be cultivated before planting. It is steamed in a water bath, or treated with manganese.

And you can use ready-made purchased soil mixture. Many of them are prepared on the basis of biohumus created with the help of earthworms. And they, as you know, secrete active substances in the course of their life that kill all pathogenic microbes.

Seed preparation

So, the soil mixture was prepared, the container for seedlings was taken out. Let's get to the seeds. Many use the seeds of their already grown vegetables. But if you purchased them in a store, then you must first sort them out, removing the bad ones.

Some gardeners sow the seeds immediately into the soil, that is, dry, and some sprouted. There is no big difference in the method of sowing. Both of them germinate, as well as give a harvest. It's just a matter of habit here. Let's consider different ways.

1. Select the largest, and therefore viable seeds. Prepare a saturated solution of potassium permanganate and soak the seeds in it for 20 minutes. Then rinse them under running water. Put in a damp cloth and leave for a day or two in a warm place.

2. And there is another way in which you need to melt the snow in a glass and place the seeds there. The temperature of the water must be at room temperature. Leave for a day. Transfer to a damp cloth and place the seeds in a plastic bag. Tie off, but leave a small hole for air flow.

Suspend from the battery and leave for 4 - 7 days, until the time when the seeds hatch.

3. This method similar to the previous one, with only one difference. Soak the seeds for a day in a solution of microfertilizers. After that, transfer them to a damp cloth, and place them in a plastic bag. Put or hang in a warm place for 4 - 7 days until the seeds hatch.

3. You can soak the seeds in an ash solution. Ash must be from woody plants. Let's look at how to prepare such a solution.

  • dilute a tablespoon of ash in a half-liter jar.
  • let it brew for 24 hours, with occasional stirring of the solution
  • drain the water
  • soak the seeds in water for a day (and someone can withstand two days)
  • drain water through a sieve
  • plant seeds for seedlings

4. A very controversial method, but nonetheless existing - increasing the plant's resistance to frost.

Sprouted seeds are placed in a damp cloth and in a bag, then put in the refrigerator under freezer where the air temperature is + 1 degree. Leave for a week. Then plant in the ground.

Planting seeds

Well, the seeds are ready. Now it's time to think about how we will sow them. To do this, we determine whether we will sow in separate containers, or in common boxes. We prepare both the containers and the ground in advance.

When the time comes to plant the hatched seeds, we take the prepared soil and scatter it in pots or prepared containers. The soil should be warm, so water it with warm water.

If planting in a common container, the distance between the seeds should be about three centimeters. If in separate, then either one at a time - two, but not more than three seeds. They should be sown to a depth of 4 cm.

To do this, you need to compact and moisten the soil, after that, sow the seeds. Then sprinkle them on top of the ground, just on these same 4 cm. Place the planting container in a warm and well-lit place and wait for the sprouts to sprout. Do not forget to cover the seedlings with foil. We do not remove the film until germination.

As a rule, seeds germinate 10-14 days after sowing.

How to care for plant seedlings

After planting the seeds, they should be watered only as needed - when the earth begins to dry out. Watering is carried out with warm water 20 -25 degrees. It is advisable to defend it for 2 - 3 days.

If under the film is kept optimum temperature at 24-26 degrees, the seeds will sprout in 10 days. Moreover, the temperature in the room should not be lower than 25 degrees, at least preferably.

If it gets cold at night, then the seedlings should be covered with a film.

Peppers have a control germination period of 14 days. If during this time the seeds did not sprout, you can throw them out.

Light

After two or three days, the film from the planting material will need to be removed for ventilation. early seedling, ascended in February, needs additional highlighting from 8 am to 8 pm. To do this, it is better to use fluorescent lamps, which are hung at a distance of 10 cm from the plants. If it's cloudy outside, we turn on the lights for the whole day.

This mode should be maintained in the first seven days of emerging seedlings of plants. Then the temperature should be slightly increased, during the day up to 23-25°C if it is sunny, and up to 19-22°C if it is cloudy. At night, the temperature should be around 17°C.

In addition, boxes with seedlings can be periodically turned one side to the light, then the other.

Watering

Now, as for watering. The first few days you can only slightly moisten the soil. Peppers are watered more abundantly about once every 4 days and, preferably, in the morning.

When the seedlings have the first leaves, and this will happen on the 35th day, we already water the seedlings more moderately - no more than 1 time per week. Water for irrigation should be sufficiently warm and separated.

picking

After the appearance of the first two leaves, you can start picking seedlings. At the same time, each plant is transplanted into an individual pot.

Before picking, we feed the seedlings with a solution of calcium nitrate based on 10 liters of water - 1 tbsp. l. fertilizers. We also water the seedlings three hours before picking.

As containers, it is best to take small plastic pots, or plastic glasses, polyethylene cylinders from bottles, made independently. Used containers from kefir are also suitable. Do not forget that all of them must have a hole to drain excess water.

We use the same land in which the seedlings grew before picking. After filling the containers with earth, it is necessary to water it. You can use mixtures such as Effekton, or Agricola Forward. Now we plant the plant almost to the very cotyledon leaves. Feed the seedlings again after three weeks.

Many gardeners do not like to dive peppers due to the fact that the roots are weak and easily torn. Therefore, you can grow pepper without picking. But for this, it is advisable to sow one seed at a time in a pot.

top dressing

And another important point is the feeding of seedlings. As for watering, after picking, we water every 5 days.

For top dressing, which, moreover, will always be at hand, already used tea leaves are well suited. By the way, many use it for indoor plants.

In 3 liters of water we insist 1 cup of tea leaves for six days. After that, we drain the solution and water the seedlings with it.

You can also use bird droppings at the rate of 20 grams per liter of water. Or a mineral fertilizer like Kemira-universal. There is such a calculation, it will be necessary to add 2-3 grams per liter of water.

Plants need to be fed while watering. That is, the ground must be moist.
