Fences of different types in the country: the correct installation technology. Do-it-yourself fence in the country

fencing suburban area is built first. It defines the boundaries of the site and hides it from prying eyes. You can make it yourself or order it on a turnkey basis. Often they choose the first option, since it is not at all difficult to build a fence in the country with your own hands. How to make a simple and beautiful hedge will be described in this material.

Garden fencing options

Types of fences for summer cottages can be divided into three categories: light, heavy and combined. Lungs are fences made of wood, mesh, profiled sheet. Heavy is stone, brick. In combined, both light and heavy materials are used.

If the question arises of how to make a fence in the country house inexpensively and quickly, then preference should be given to light fences. Such structures do not require the preliminary manufacture of the foundation, and it is very easy to install them with your own hands.

Fig.1.

Heavy fences are also not difficult to make yourself, but the construction time and costs will greatly increase. For the reason that it is necessary to make a strip foundation for brick or masonry.

Fig.2.

Quite often, heavy fencing structures are installed on the facade of the site, and light ones are used to distinguish between neighboring sections. Combined views can be applied in both cases.

How to make a simple site fence

Having understood the types of hedges, you can proceed to the question of how to make a fence in the country with your own hands. Structurally, any fence consists of supporting pillars and spans. The entire construction process is divided into the installation of pillars and the assembly of spans. Depending on what materials will be used, the order of construction and design depends. The only thing that is common is the distance between adjacent pillars and is 2 - 2.5 m.

The simplest fence in the country can be made from a chain-link mesh. To do this, you need metal poles with a length of 2.5 - 3 m and a diameter of 50 mm. You can use an ordinary water pipe or purchase ready-made fence posts, the latter option is preferable. Under the pillars with a step of 2 m, they drill holes with a garden drill 1 m deep and 150 - 200 mm in diameter. Pillars are installed in them and covered with earth, carefully ramming it, this option is well suited for heaving soils (clay, loam). If the soil is not heaving, then the pillars can be sealed with concrete, which is easy to prepare on the spot from cement, sand and gravel in a ratio of 1: 3: 5-7.

Fig.3.

The mesh can be attached to the supports using special hooks (possibly if special poles are installed), or with clamps if a water pipe is used.

Another option is to purchase a ready-made mesh fencing kit. It includes poles, mesh and fasteners. Putting a fence in the country with your own hands using a ready-made kit will not be difficult.

The main disadvantage of such a fence is that it does not hide the site from prying eyes. To eliminate this drawback, a camouflage net is used for the fence in the country. It is stretched on supports over the top of the steel mesh. The camouflage net perfectly hides the area and does not stand out against the general background of vegetation.

Fig.4.

The disadvantage of the camouflage net is its low durability; cats and other animals will easily penetrate through it into the area. In it, they can even get stuck and die. Therefore, the facade mesh for the fence in the country is very popular, which has the same ease of installation, but is devoid of the disadvantages of camouflage. Given the variety of colors, it can be a wonderful decoration not only for the fence, but for the entire site.

How to make a fence from a profiled sheet

Another equally popular option is the fencing of a summer cottage from a profiled sheet. Making a fence in the country from corrugated board with your own hands is somewhat more difficult to make than from a grid. This is due to the fact that for this version of the fence, only supporting pillars are not enough, but horizontal crossbars are also needed, to which the profiled sheet will be fixed.

For fixing the profiled sheet, at least 2 cross bars are required. In order for the profiled sheet to hold the wind load well, it is advisable to install them at a distance of 1 m from each other. Therefore, for a 2-meter fence, it is desirable to install 3 cross bars. The first is installed at a distance of 20 - 30 cm from the ground level, the second in the middle of the supporting column, the third on the top of the pillars.

Fig.5.

A pipe is well suited as a transverse square section from 20x20 to 40x40 mm in size or a metal corner from 30x30 mm in size.

Transverse to the supporting pillars are traditionally attached by welding. If there is no welding, then you can fix them with bolts. Of course, such a connection will have less rigidity, and you will have to tinker a lot.

The profiled sheet is attached to assembled structure using self-tapping screws. For this purpose, it is good to use roofing fasteners. It is galvanized and equipped with rubber gaskets, which prolongs its service life and eliminates unpleasant sounds. Which can publish a profiled sheet in the wind. Before fixing the sheet, it is necessary to drill a hole, and then fix it with a self-tapping screw.

When installing a fence from a profiled sheet in the country, it is important to take into account one more point. It is not good if the profiled sheet touches the ground. From constant moisture, it will quickly rust and lose its appearance, but leaving a gap is also not good. Therefore, the profiled sheet is installed with a gap of 5–10 cm with the ground, and a rubber strip 15–20 cm wide is fixed to the lower edge of the profiled sheet. The rubber strip is buried in the ground. Thus, the profiled sheet does not rot, and there is no gap left.

How to build a wooden fence

A beautiful fence in the country can be made from boards. There are many options for wooden fences of the site, they can be divided into two types with vertical and horizontal fastening of the boards.

A wooden fence, as well as the previously considered types, is installed on support poles. However, in this case, not metal poles, but wooden ones can be used.

As wooden supports, a beam with a cross section of 80x80 mm is usually used. Before fixing the beam in the ground, it must be treated from decay, otherwise the fence will not last long.

Only the part that will be below ground level is subject to processing. The first stage is the treatment with an antiseptic, then the timber is covered with mastic and wrapped with roofing material. Only after that it can be installed in the ground.

Under wooden poles it is necessary to drill pits with a depth lower than the depth of soil freezing of about 1.2 -1.5 m. At the bottom of the pit, drainage is arranged from a layer of sand and gravel. After that, a wooden fence support is installed and poured with concrete.

Once all the pillars are installed, you can proceed to the lining of the spans. At this stage, it's time to think about how to decorate the fence in the country. The main decoration is a special order of fastening the facing board. There are many options, here are some of them.

We looked at what can be done cheap fence in the country. If you want to have a stronger, more durable and impregnable fence, then the only option left is to use brick or stone.

Brick fence on a strip foundation

Brick fences differ from the options considered earlier by the presence of a strip reinforced concrete foundation, on which brick or masonry is being erected. All the complexity and high cost of construction lies precisely in it.

Fig.12.

Strip foundation for a country hedge make also, as well as for the house. A shallow strip foundation is used. The depth of its occurrence is about 50 cm.

The order of its device is as follows:

  • A trench is dug along the perimeter of the site with a depth of 70 - 80 cm, a width of 20 cm.
  • A layer of sand 20 cm is poured at the bottom of the trench, then a layer of crushed stone 10 - 20 cm.
  • A formwork 10–20 cm high is erected above the trench.
  • The trench and formwork are laid with roofing material. It is necessary so that the concrete does not go into the ground.
  • They make a binding. Reinforcement of concrete is carried out with a bar 12 mm thick. The bar is installed 10 cm from the bottom of the trench and 10 cm from the top. Fasten it with wire or welding.
  • Pouring concrete. For 2-3 days, the formwork is removed and the foundation is left to dry and gain strength for another 30 days.
  • After the strip foundation has dried, you can lay stone or brick.

Fig.13.

An analogue of a strip foundation, but a simpler option is columnar foundation with grillage. This foundation consists of piles buried below the freezing depth of the soil (1.2 - 1.5 m). Piles can be steel pipes or special screw piles. The grillage is made of concrete. The advantage of a foundation with a grillage is that it is cheaper and less labor-intensive to manufacture.

As you can see, putting up a fence in the country is quite simple. It is important to decide on the design and purpose. If you do not want to spend a lot of effort on installing a fence, then preference should be given lightweight materials such as profiled sheet, mesh or wood. If you want to have a fundamental building, then you should consider building a fence made of brick or stone, or make a combined version.

Features of installing a fence in a summer cottage

The design of any fence includes load-bearing supports and sheathing. Bearing supports are often vertical pillars and horizontal spans, on which sheathing material is mounted, as well as gates and a gate.

Before creating a fence around your garden, you need to learn some rules and subtleties:

  1. According to building codes and rules, fences between two adjacent sections should not exceed 1.5 m in height, and should not be deaf. This means that a solid fence without gaps can only be built on those sides of the garden that face the street or adjoin the road.
  2. When choosing the type of country fence and building materials for its execution, you need to take into account the type of soil on the site. The density and other characteristics of the soil will determine its ability to hold the supports of the structure, which means that the foundation for the fence will also be selected taking into account this feature.
  3. Another important indicator- wind load on the fence. In an open and heavily blown area, the wind load on the fence will be significant, so the sheathing and supports must be strong and reliable. In such conditions, it is recommended to trim the fences sparsely, leaving gaps, and also to create a powerful and well-buried foundation.
  4. The style decision of the garden also plays a role when choosing a fence, because the fence must fit into overall design, emphasize its features and beauty.
  5. Sometimes the height of the fence closes the view and does not allow you to see what is happening outside. In this case, you should take care of installing a video surveillance system.

The choice of material for the construction of the fence

Many materials are suitable for the construction of a country fence with your own hands. Let us consider in more detail their characteristics, advantages and disadvantages.

Cheap, affordable and beautiful material is wood, we will talk about its positive characteristics below:

  1. Building a wooden fence is quite simple and you can do it yourself without resorting to the help of special equipment and craftsmen.
  2. Wood is relatively light in weight and does not require the creation of a massive foundation. Light weight also facilitates the installation process of such a skin.
  3. A deaf wooden fence protects the site well from dust, noise and prying eyes from the street.
  4. Wood is environmentally friendly, harmless, looks natural and aesthetically pleasing. It is easy to work with it, creating original decorative details.
  5. Solid sheathing perfectly protects from the wind, sparse - reduces the speed of the air flow.
  6. Wood can be combined with other materials: metal, brick, natural stone.

In addition to positive qualities, such a fence also has disadvantages:

Popular types of country fences are metal fences. As a sheathing, corrugated board or chain-link is often used. To positive qualities chain-link fences include:

  1. Ease of installation. It is easy to work with the grid, it weighs little, it can be cut into the necessary fragments without any problems. Making such a fence yourself is not difficult, besides, big square chain-link allows you to quickly fence a large area.
  2. Metal mesh is more durable than wood and will last at least 20 years.
  3. Such a fence transmits sunlight well, but prevents animals from entering the site.
  4. The metal does not burn, which can also be considered its plus.

Among the shortcomings of the chain-link are the following:

  1. The mesh does not protect the site from noise, dust, wind and prying eyes. But you can partially solve this problem if you plant with inside plant fence.
  2. A chain link will not protect your home from intruders.
  3. Over time, metal can rust, especially if it is not galvanized, painted or protected with a layer of PVC.
  4. Galvanized mesh is dangerous for environment, as the zinc layer is gradually washed away by rains and absorbed into the soil.
  5. A poor-quality PVC coating does not tolerate temperature fluctuations well and becomes unusable after a few seasons.

Another popular type of metal fence is sectional fencing. It has quite a few advantages, among which are:

  1. The duration of operation, which is at least 15-20 years.
  2. High strength, hardness, impact resistance, resistance to temperature fluctuations.
  3. Good light transmission, the ability to protect the site from animals and uninvited unauthorized persons.
  4. Fire safety.
  5. Variety of types, shapes, designs.

Sectional metal fences not without disadvantages:

  1. They do not protect the area from dust, noise, strong wind, are well viewed from the side of the street, so that anyone passing by can look into the courtyard.
  2. The metal needs to be treated as it is prone to corrosion when exposed to moisture and water.
  3. Installing such a fence is not an easy task, it requires welding skills and the availability of certain tools and fixtures.

prestigious and expensive view a metal fence is considered a wrought iron fence. It has almost the same performance characteristics as other metal fences: strength, long term service, hardness, light transmission, incombustibility, the ability to protect the site from animals and intruders. But the main advantage of a forged fence is its aesthetics and high decorative effect. Such a fence emphasizes the status and prestige of the owner of the house, his well-being. Such a fence is quite expensive, requires professional installation, does not protect the territory from noise and street dust, and also corrodes over time.

A stone fence is considered reliable and one of the most durable. It has such positive qualities:

  1. Durability, the service life of the stone fence exceeds 50 years.
  2. Good strength characteristics, since the stone is considered one of the hardest building materials. He is not afraid of frost and heat, easily tolerates temperature fluctuations.
  3. The stone is not destroyed by moisture, so it does not require any special protection.
  4. This material is environmentally friendly, safe for health, non-flammable.
  5. The variety of types and shades of stones is the reason for their high decorativeness. A stone fence can fit into almost any stylistic design of the garden, in addition, the material goes well with wood and metal.
  6. The stone fence will reliably protect the personal plot from noise, dust, wind. People passing by will not look into your yard, and even intruders are unlikely to overcome such protection.

Stone fences have some minor disadvantages:

  1. The severity of the material suggests that a powerful and deep foundation will have to be laid under such a fence.
  2. Installation work stone fence takes a long time, requires significant physical effort. Putting up such a fence alone is problematic.
  3. A stone fence will cost its owner not so cheap. A massive foundation, materials for the fence itself, the cost of transporting them and the possible help of hired workers will require a lot of money to be invested.

Wattle: the romance of a rustic style

Wattle wattle at their summer cottage looks very colorful, thanks to which last years he gained considerable popularity. Despite the apparent complexity, creating such a fence with your own hands is not only realistic, but also not too difficult. The structure of the wattle fence includes wooden supports, the space between which is filled with rods. Bars, trunks, thick branches can be used as supports. The diameter of the supports, as a rule, is 8-10 cm, and willow or willow vines, poplar or birch branches are used for weaving.

Those who have suitable trees on their site and prune them annually can use unnecessary rods to create a fence. But making wattle from freshly cut vines is still much better than from last year's branches.

The process of creating such a fence can be described in stages:

  1. First, measure the perimeter of your site where you intend to install the fence. Calculate how many support bars you will need for the fence, given that they need to be placed at a distance of about 50 cm from each other. This figure may be smaller or larger, depending on the thickness of the pillars. The larger the diameter of the beam and the stronger the wood, the greater the step between the supports can be.
  2. prepare required amount grounds, adding a small margin to them.
  3. All wood that will be used in the construction of the fence, process protective compounds. Antiseptics will extend the life of the material, protect it from insect attacks, mold and mildew, and partially protect it from moisture.
  4. Then the wattle tree needs to be tarred, giving Special attention those parts of the supports that will be dug into the ground. As a rule, the length of these segments is calculated depending on the height of the country fence. If the height of the fence is 1.5 m, then the stakes need to be deepened into the soil by 50 cm. For lower fences, 30 cm will be enough.
  5. Drive the support stakes into the ground at an equal distance from each other, but first mark the location of the supports on the site. Short pegs can be driven in with a hammer, for high beams it is better to pre-make recesses with a garden drill. The thicker the supports are and the deeper they are installed in the ground, the greater the wind loads the wattle fence can withstand.
  6. Using a building level or a simple rope, check the evenness of the stakes and trim them all to the same height.
  7. When weaving a fence, you need to consider some rules. First, the thickest rods should be placed at the bottom and top of the fence. A thinner vine is suitable for filling the middle spans. Secondly, the rods begin to be woven from the thick end. Thirdly, the thick and thin ends of the vine must be evenly spaced around the entire perimeter of the fence.
  8. Once you've weaved the first few rows of twigs between the supports, secure the bottom branch with a self-tapping screw or screw. This will keep your fence from sliding down the stakes.
  9. If the fence is planned to be made high, the upper row of rods must be strengthened on supports in the same way. So the design will be reliable and will not move anywhere. In addition, a high fence also needs to be additionally secured with wire. Stepping back from the top 20 cm, wrap the stakes with wire and twist it between the supports. Such protection will allow the hedge not to sag under the pressure of an elastic vine. The steel wire will subsequently be masked by further weaving.
  10. Place the final row of rods a few centimeters from the top of the supports and fix with screws. If in the process of work there are protruding segments of the rods, cut them off with a hacksaw.
  11. The finished wattle fence should be protected from moisture by covering it with a transparent varnish. Such processing will make the fence more beautiful and aesthetic.

The hedge can be decorated with live climbing plants, small planters with flowers and other accessories, such as clay pots, a straw hat, etc. At the bottom of the fence, you can lay out beautiful boulders that will decorate the structure and give it extra strength.

American style wooden fence

The so-called "ranch" fence, characteristic of American culture, can often be found in summer cottages in our country. A fence of this style is easy to do, the most milestone work is to pick quality material and process it properly. Let's take a closer look at the stages of creating an American fence:

finished fence in american style can be painted or varnished.

Country fence made of corrugated board

A fence made of corrugated board is good because it has an affordable cost and is mounted quickly enough. The material itself is characterized by good strength and long service life. The structural details of such a fence are metal pillars-supports and sheets of profiled metal. A corrugated fence is built in the following way:

  1. As in the cases described above, you first need to calculate the required amount of materials by measuring the perimeter of the territory and noting the places where the supports for the fence will be located. These points can be marked with small wooden pegs. The supporting elements must be equally spaced from each other, which can be 2-2.5 m. In the process of marking the territory, it is also necessary to designate those places where the gate and gate will subsequently be installed.
  2. As support pillars, it is best to use metal pipes with a section of 60x60 mm. Their length will depend on the expected height of the fence, taking into account the segment that will be dug into the ground. If the terrain in the summer cottage is uneven, has pits and elevations, you can use pipes different lengths. The main thing is that the top of the fence turned out to be even, all the pillars were at the same level.
  3. It is easiest to dig supports into the ground in pre-prepared pits, which can be done with a garden drill or a shovel. The depth of the pits should be at least 60 cm.
  4. After digging the recesses, they put pillars in them and fix them with temporary struts. The verticality of the supports is checked by the building level.
  5. The free space between the pillars and the soil is poured concrete mortar, once again check the verticality and leave the mixture to solidify completely. This will take at least 3 days.
  6. Cross bars are made from pipes of smaller diameter, welded to the support posts. If the height of the fence is not more than 1.5 m, then such runs are fixed only from above and below. For taller structures, you also need to make an intermediate beam in the center.
  7. After the construction of the frame, the metal elements are opened with a primer, dried and painted twice with enamel. This will protect the metal from corrosion.
  8. When the enamel dries, the fence can be sheathed with sheets of corrugated board. To do this, the sheets are adjusted to the desired size and screwed with screws to metal frame making a slight overlap. The step between the fasteners should be approximately 25-35 cm.

It is desirable to additionally strengthen the finished fence from corrugated board with the so-called drip - cornice plank U-shaped. Such a detail will give the structure additional strength and protect the fence from precipitation and moisture.

Picket fence in the country: simple, inexpensive and neat

Picket fence - one of the varieties of wooden or metal fence. This simple design it is easy to create with your own hands, the materials will be relatively cheap, and the installation process will be simple and quick. Both wooden beams and metal can be used as supporting elements for the picket fence. profile pipes 6x6 cm in size. We will describe the process of building the fence in stages:

  1. In pre-marked places, supports for fencing are buried in the ground. To do this, holes are made in the soil, bars or metal pipes are inserted into them, and the free space is concreted.
  2. After the concrete has hardened, they are attached to the supporting elements transverse joists. They are welded to metal pipes with an overlap. Then the structure is primed and covered with paint.
  3. In predetermined places, a gate and a gate are mounted on the support pillars.
  4. The upper parts of the pipes are closed with plugs so that water does not get inside, and the structure does not deteriorate.
  5. When the frame is completely ready, they begin to sheathe it with a picket fence. Fence elements can be metal or wood. They are screwed to the frame with self-tapping screws, keeping a distance of 30 mm between individual parts.
  6. The upper part of the fence is closed with a ridge-shaped bar, which gives the fence a great decorative effect.

Deaf fence on the site

Many people prefer to hide their life from prying eyes, so blind fences are installed as a country fence. Such fences are not blown by the wind, are not visible from the street, they protect well from noise, dust, uninvited animals and even from intruders.

One of the varieties of a blind fence is a log palisade, for which trunks are used. coniferous trees. The cost of such a fence is quite democratic, especially if a foundation is not used to create it. A log palisade looks great in those areas where a log house is built. The fence can be installed on a pre-created foundation, or you can simply dig the trunks into the ground to 1/3 of their height. Depending on the chosen method, the required length of logs should be determined.

In order for the palisade to look neat and stylish, the material must be of high quality. It is desirable that the logs have approximately the same diameter, belong to the same tree species, and have a smooth treated surface. The diameter of the bars can vary from 10 to 25 cm, but a stockade made of thick logs will be more reliable. To make it easier to drive the trunks into the ground, one of their ends is sharpened in the form of a cone, using an ax for this purpose. Working with any type of wood also provides for its mandatory treatment with anti-rotten antiseptics. The tree is impregnated with the necessary compounds even before the installation of the fence, after which it is thoroughly dried.

That fragment of the trunk, which will be in the ground, is additionally covered with resin or creosote. Before installing the palisade, a trench is dug around the perimeter of the site. Its depth should correspond to 1/3 of the length of the logs. Crushed stone is poured at the bottom of the trench with a layer of 10 to 15 cm. Then the bars are inserted into the crushed stone with a sharpened and tarred end, tightly joining them together. Having placed 3-4 logs in this way, the free space around them is filled with earth, moistened and rammed as carefully as possible. Then proceed to the installation of the next group of logs.

Having placed a palisade around the entire perimeter of the site, it is painted in the chosen color or simply covered with a transparent varnish to preserve the natural beauty of the wood.

Please note: it is not recommended to fill the pillars in the ground with concrete mortar. Under the influence of temperature and humidity, wood and concrete will change their dimensions, a gap may form between the materials, into which water will enter. Soaking into the logs, moisture will gradually begin to destroy them, so that the fence will become unusable in just a few years.

To make the palisade more durable and not move anywhere, it is desirable to strengthen the bars with transverse crossbars. Stepping back 20 cm from the top and bottom of the structure, the transverse planks are nailed to the wood.

Instead of digging logs into the ground 1/3 of the length, they can be installed on a pre-prepared foundation. In this case, the fence will last longer, since the material will not deteriorate from the moisture contained in the soil. In addition, in such a case, it will be possible to install logs not only vertically, but lay them horizontally, and this will look quite stylish.

A simple and cheap option - a chain-link fence

many owners personal plots to install a country fence, a chain-link mesh is used. This fencing option is considered the cheapest, although it is not very reliable. Nevertheless, the chain-link is able to protect the garden from the penetration of animals, and you can hide from the prying eyes of strangers with the help of a hedge planted along the perimeter of the fence.

Putting up a chain-link fence is very simple, the light weight of the material and the ease of working with it will allow you to do it in a short time. We will consider the installation process of the fence step by step:

  1. Along the perimeter of the garden, where the fence will be located, mark the places for future supporting elements.
  2. In these places, pits are dug and metal pipes are installed in them. Crushed stone and earth are poured around the pipes, they are carefully rammed. Hollow structures are closed from above with plugs so that water does not destroy them from the inside.
  3. Then between the spans tightly pull the chain-link. So that it does not sag, a thick wire is pulled in the upper and lower parts of the grid, which is fixed on the poles with anchors.

For a chain-link fence, a foundation is not needed, since the structure is very light in weight. In addition, the absence of welding work greatly simplifies the installation process.

Country fences, photo:

Country fence with their own hands. Video

People have been building fences for a very long time. AT old times they protected a person from predators, served as a barrier from enemies. Currently, fences allow you to mark the boundaries of your possessions, help to give the site a shape, protect from unnecessary looks.

In order for the fence to last as long as possible, it is necessary to prepare a high-quality foundation with a depth of at least 30 cm.

You can build a fence in the country, even without the special skills and abilities of a builder.

Depending on building skills, design ideas and financial capabilities, there are several options for how to make a fence in the country with your own hands.

Most often, cottage owners build fences from corrugated board, natural stone, metal mesh, concrete panels and tree. The main role is played by the desire to make both beautiful and reliable. Therefore, very often you can find fences that are made using natural materials made in original style. Fences using living plants (hedges) are very popular.

Thinking about which one with your own hands, you need to try to choose the option that will best harmonize with the design of the site and the house, which will create an atmosphere of unity with nature. For example, if there is a brick in the design of the house, then the fence containing brickwork, will create a harmonious architectural ensemble. About how to give, and will be discussed. Having considered the proposed options, you can easily determine for yourself, on your site.

Types of fences for a summer cottage

  1. A wooden fence for a summer residence does not require large material investments, it allows you to experiment with shape and color, the material for such a fence is easy to get. Disadvantages of a wooden fence: the need for regular maintenance, the fragility of the material.
  2. A brick fence for a summer residence will be strong, durable, will not require additional care, and will allow you to experiment with shape and color. Disadvantages - high labor intensity during construction (it will require the creation of a strip foundation) and the high cost of the material.
  3. The fence from a professional flooring strong, durable, does not demand additional leaving. Since the corrugated board has a low cost, the construction of such a fence will not require large material costs. In addition, a fence made of corrugated board will create additional sound insulation. Easy to install even for a novice construction work. However, such a fence requires the creation of a strip or pillar foundation, which increases the complexity of the process.
  4. A country fence made of chain-link mesh or metal mesh is quite strong and durable, does not require additional maintenance, is transparent (does not create shadows), and has a low cost. However, transparency in some cases can also serve as a disadvantage - such a fence will not hide from prying eyes.
  5. A PVC fence will be durable, allow you to experiment with shape, is inexpensive and does not require additional maintenance, it is not difficult to install it yourself, but this material is difficult to find.
  6. The hedge has a very attractive appearance, allows you to create a natural and harmonious fence, experiment with design. However, such a fence is short-lived, requires constant care, and serves only as a decorative fence. In addition, a professionally made hedge will be very expensive.
  7. The wattle fence at their summer cottage will have a very harmonious, natural and beautiful view, does not require large material investments (wattle can be made from natural material- willow or hazel), will allow you to recreate many design solutions. The disadvantages of that fence are fragility and only a decorative function.

Construction of the foundation for the fence

In order for the fence to exist for more than a dozen years, it is necessary to approach the construction thoroughly. A properly laid foundation will serve as a guarantee of the strength and reliability of the fence. Used foundations for the fence: pole and tape. They have the same fundamental differences as in the construction of the foundation for the house. The strip foundation is poured under heavy structures (for example, when building a brick fence), on heaving soils, if necessary, create a completely fenced, impenetrable area when it is necessary to exclude the penetration of wild animals. The strip foundation for the fence is the most reliable and durable.

Technology for the manufacture of a strip foundation for a fence

  1. They dig a trench 30-80 cm deep (if desired, for reliability, you can make a depth of up to 1.5 m).
  2. They make a sand cushion, which is then abundantly soaked with water.
  3. Knit armature.
  4. From boards or plywood, formwork is erected for the fence in such a way that the canvas of the future fence is located above the ground at a height of about 40 cm.
  5. The formwork is filled with concrete mortar.

The pillar foundation will be more economical, it is perfect for light building envelopes. A properly thought out and well-made fence on a pillar foundation will last no less time than on a strip foundation. When building wooden fences on a pillar foundation, it is necessary to treat all wooden parts with special compounds that will prevent decay.

The technology of erecting a pillar foundation for a fence

  1. With the help of a construction drill or a shovel, pits are dug under the pillars with a depth of 100-150 cm with a diameter 15-20 cm larger than the diameter of the pillars. The required distance between the pillars is 2-3 m. Its choice depends on the desired span width.
  2. They make a sand cushion - a layer of sand 20 cm thick is poured into the pits and watered abundantly.
  3. Pillars are installed, leveled, after which the pits are poured with concrete. Thus, the pillars are obtained - the basis for the fence. After that, spans can be attached to the pillars (for example, chain-link mesh structures).

How to make a fence with your own hands from corrugated board

The professional flooring is the most optimum and widespread material for construction of protections. Therefore, the technology of its installation should be considered a little more in detail. Before you start building, you need to make accurate calculations of the entire perimeter of the fence. The location of the fence is preliminarily marked, the place for the gate and the gate is determined, the places for installing the pillars are calculated (when creating the pillar foundation). After that, the height of the fence, the height of the gate and the gate are determined. Based on these calculations, you can easily determine how much material you need.

Tools and materials needed to make a corrugated fence

  1. Roulette, building level.
  2. Shovel (for digging trenches or holes under the foundation).
  3. Sand.
  4. Lake, water.
  5. Concrete solution.
  6. Pipes with a diameter of 80-90 mm.
  7. Welding machine.
  8. Steel profile.
  9. Primer.
  10. Sheets of corrugated board.
  11. Self-tapping screws for metal.
  12. Protective gloves.

Pipes with a diameter of at least 80-90 mm should be used as support pillars. The side of the post that will be directed upwards is welded (this will prevent moisture from entering the pipe). One third of the post should be buried in the ground. After about 3 days, when the foundation hardens, a transverse steel profile is installed, to which the corrugated board for the fence will be attached.

A profiled pipe with a section of 40x25 mm can be used as a profile. How many pipes are needed can be determined based on the height of the fence. With a height of up to 1.7 m, 2 parallel pipes fixed at a distance of 30-40 cm will suffice. With a fence height of 1.7 to 2 m, the pipes must be laid in 3 rows.

The profile and support posts are fixed by electric welding. After mounting the support poles and the steel profile, it is necessary to coat them with a primer to protect them from corrosion. The final stage is the fastening of corrugated board sheets to the frame. Usually this material is fastened with self-tapping screws at a distance of 500 mm from each other. Adjacent sheets must be overlapped with each other.

Gloves should be worn when handling as the material has sharp edges that can severely injure the skin. If scratches appeared on the corrugated board during installation, they can be easily hidden using a can of paint. To give such a fence a more aesthetic appearance, the supporting pillars are covered with brick or stone cladding.

So, suppose you already have a summer cottage. Having land, but having nothing else, it is necessary to start somewhere. The construction of a fence in the country is one of the most important issues and is solved in the first place. The work to achieve the ultimate goal in this aspect is quite complicated and in the proper economic situation it is better to use the services of professionals.

If, nevertheless, you decide to do everything yourself, you need to know a few points and features that will help in this matter. And below is all the necessary information so that you fully know how to make a fence in the country with your own hands.

There are several necessary factors that determine the feasibility of a particular building.

For barrier structures, these are:

  • The nature of the soil. There are several types of soil, and each of them has different properties that determine the reliability of fixing supporting structures. Given this parameter, the depth for the supports and the type of foundation are selected.
  • The load of air currents on the fence. With a different location of your summer cottage, a strong influence of winds on the fence and its sheathing is possible. This load parameter is taken into account to determine the required gaps between sheathed materials (to reduce the effect of air flow).
  • Site design. Your fence should be in harmony with the rest of the structures. Aesthetic principles must be observed at least through plantings as close as possible to the fence from the inside.

The options for building a fence for a summer residence are quite diverse, and before you build a fence in the country with your own hands, you need to know: the materials from which the structures are mounted, their cost and the complexity of the construction process. When buying material, try to do it at one time, otherwise it may vary in size and shade. When organizing a live fence, make sure that organic material has not reached its expiration date.

Living fence made of pine needles

In order to ensure that no one interferes with your peace, perhaps a design made of brick, concrete or wood is suitable. For lovers original solutions a wrought iron or hedge fence is suitable. In addition to the fact that such a fence has a pleasant appearance, its main functions are protection from intrusion and protection from robbery, which should also not be forgotten.

Separately, I would like to focus on the supports during construction, as they are a guarantee of a long service life of the fence.

With a brick version of the barrier structure, ordinary pipes with a large diameter of about 100-150 mm are suitable for supports.

Scheme of masonry stobl brick barrier

The construction of a fence made of corrugated board requires a smaller pipe diameter - about 60x60 mm. For a fence made of wood, it is used accordingly wooden bars as supports or logs of a certain thickness, depending on the height of the building you choose.

The organization of supports is a rather painstaking process. The beginning of the installation is the correct marking and installation of pegs in the places of future posts. The distance between the supports should be the same and directly proportional to the height of the fence. The depth to which the supports are buried must be greater than the depth of freezing of the earth. Wooden supports are treated with a special antiseptic before being immersed in the ground. When placing supports, observe one line; for this, a construction plumb line or an ordinary cord will come to your aid.

Scheme of the construction of a wooden fence

Fixation of supporting structures is described in the paragraphs below. Before starting work, prepare shovels, drills, a cord, measuring tools (rulers, tape measures), an electric drill (if necessary) or a hammer, rammer and building materials.

The foundation, like the supports, is an important element of the building. If you follow all the instructions for organizing the foundation, your fence will serve you for many years. There are two main types of foundation: strip and pillar.

Strip foundation

The foundation of this type is very strong and is usually used for buildings of a heavy nature. The strip foundation is especially effective if buildings need to be made in places with problematic soil, for example, on heaving.

Strip foundation scheme

Manufacturing technology

  • First of all, dig a hole about 30-80 cm. With the necessary tolerance and time, for greater strength of the future fence, it is better to go deeper to 150 cm.
  • Organize a layer of sand, after filling it with water.
  • Reinforcing cells should not have big size, knitting reinforcement is the next important step.
  • Make the formwork for the fence so that the material from which it is made does not touch the ground (was raised by 30-50 cm).
  • After, the formwork is poured with concrete, if the supports are mounted in the foundation, this must be done at this stage, observing the level as described earlier.

Pillar foundation

This kind supporting structure differs from the previous one in that it serves for lighter erections. It has a huge plus - sufficient efficiency during construction. If you stick technological process, then the fence standing on this foundation will serve you no less than a fence on a strip foundation.

Scheme of the pillar foundation for supports

Manufacturing technology

  • With a shovel or drill, make holes for supports 1-1.5 meters deep. The pit should be 15-30 cm wider than the support immersed in it.
  • We make a layer of crushed stone and sand, which we fill with water (the thickness of the layer is approximately 20 cm).
  • After leveling the pillars, pour sand concrete into the pit and add crushed stone for greater strength.

The foundation is ready. As you can see, the process is not at all complicated and is suitable for fences of various variations.

wooden fence

Wooden fences for summer cottages can be mounted with your own hands.

Option to build a wooden fence

This operation is quite simple and can be carried out in several steps:

  • Determine the perimeter of the building.
  • We dig trenches for support pillars (depth 25-30 cm, distance from each other 2 or 2.5 meters).
  • We expose the columns evenly using the building level.
  • We fix the posts in the ground by pouring concrete or cement into the trench.
  • For cladding, we fasten wooden bars or nail them (the average size of a bar is from 50x50 mm)
  • We mount the crossbars
  • We attach pre-prepared boards to the resulting structure, with a gap of 1.5-2 cm (choose the size of the boards yourself depending on aesthetic needs, the recommended size is 85x145 mm)
  • We carry out finishing work in the form of painting the resulting structure

Remember: for a long service life of a wooden fence, all boards must be treated with drying oil before construction, and more than once.

Pros: the material is quite affordable and inexpensive.

Minuses: wooden fences for giving have a short service life and the need for constant monitoring of the condition (paint, process, etc.).

brick fence

Pros: great strength and service life (50 years or more), aesthetic appearance.

brick fence

Cons: High price and the need to build a strong foundation

Corrugated fence

You can make such a fence yourself with minimal effort.

To get started, purchase sheets of metal, choosing the desired design and looking at the price, after calculating the required amount of material. After that, you need to make a markup and complete a few more points to get a finished barrier structure:

  • Dig holes 1-1.2m deep around the entire perimeter.
  • In each hole, organize a pillow of crushed stone or gravel 20-25cm thick
  • As in the case of a wooden fence, we set the posts evenly, use a level, and then concrete them for strength.
  • The next stage is welding, weld the logs from the pipe across, keeping the same distance between them.
  • Using self-tapping screws, screw sheets of metal onto the resulting structure (self-tapping screws can be replaced with metal rivets for better security).
Corrugated fence

Pros: a large selection of material and its aesthetic parameters, practicality and ease of installation, relatively low price, durability.

Cons: not refined enough general form(this is what brick extensions are usually made for)

Concrete fence (in the form of slabs)

Pros: Durable material (stronger even than brick buildings), long service life, no need for maintenance, different choice decorative performance.

Concrete slab fence

Cons: Very difficult to build with your own hands (you need to use the services of specialists)

Metal fence (forged)

With a sufficient budget of the owner, it is possible to install a wrought iron fence. This view is very in harmony with large buildings and has many positive characteristics.

Pros: forged metal fences for summer cottages have a service life of over 50 years, can take various forms while maintaining strength, aesthetics, such structures are refractory.

Wrought Iron Fence

Cons: they are not a barrier to wind and dust, let noise through, high cost, rust, require maintenance.

Metal fence (in sections)

Elements of sections of this type are connected by welding. The fence has a good visual appearance and has many different models.

Pros: Impact resistance, bending ability, fire safety, gives high level illumination.

Sectional metal fence

Minuses: sectional fences for summer cottages they do not retain wind and dust, do not protect from visual contact with passers-by, and are not suitable for self-installation.

Metal fence (in the form of a grid)

The fence is suitable for small summer cottages. And it can be erected as a temporary replacement for a more powerful fence, as well as for a permanent one. long term services.

Self-installation, if you decide on this, begins, like everyone else, with markup. It is necessary to calculate not only the perimeter and vertical position of the main pillars, but also to allocate space for intermediate supports. Usually, the installation of some pillars is carried out with a distance of 3 meters from each other, and the next after 9. The diameter of the required pipes is indicated in the paragraph on supports, and their installation in the paragraph on the foundation.

Metal mesh fence

The dug-in poles are connected by supports from metal corners. This can be done by welding or screwing bolts. For additional security, the wire rod is passed between the posts on different height by pre-drilling holes in them. This is done so that a possible attacker could not bend the mesh of your fence.

The last step is stretching the mesh. You can fix it with bolts, after passing a wire rod through it. The mesh roll begins to unwind near the support posts, gradually, making sure that the bent ends of the mesh are on top.

Pros: the design is quite reliable and lasts a long time, does not cast a shadow.

Cons: Does not provide the necessary comfort due to its visible design.

Slab fence

In general, slab is a waste product resulting from sawmill work. The construction of a slab fence is quite economical, although according to some experts it does not have a special aesthetic appearance. If you need to save your budget - this is an ideal option.

Slab fence

If we build a fence in the country with our own hands from a slab, then it is necessary to follow the correct sequence of work.

For lovers non-standard solutions Wattle fence is best. This design is easily in harmony with any design of a summer cottage and at the same time is cheaper than any other options for building a fence. The main disadvantage is short term service, about 3-5 years. You can use willow or hazel branches or birch branches to make the sheathing. As in other structures, you can not do without supports. As usual, there are two versions - supports made of wood or metal (the process of their installation is described above).

Weaving requires branches of the appropriate length (at least 1.5 meters) and thickness (at least 30 mm). Before starting work, the rods are randomly checked. The branches should not be too dry, as this will cause the fence to break. If you break the twig, its middle should not have a red-brown tint - this is an indicator of excessive dryness.

Remove the bark from the branches and leave them in plain water for a week or two. In the process of soaking, use any weight that presses the rods. After, you can start the process of weaving, it is customary to braid from the bottom up. Copper wire is used as an additional fastening material. For a tight arrangement of the rods relative to each other, a rubber hammer is used. The ends of the supports are covered to avoid the influence of precipitation. You can close the end surface with galvanized caps or clay caps.

Decoration of a standard fence

Installing a fence in a country house is a very common question, but there is another equally interesting one - how to decorate an existing fence, which has nothing to do with design solutions. The answer is very simple - climbing plants, different kinds grapes or ivy will help you ennoble your building. It is possible to paint the fence or use it as one of the walls of the adjacent gazebo. Plantings in the form of elevated flower beds along the fence are also welcome.

The solution to decor issues depends on you and your imagination. Building a fence with your own hands is possible with its subsequent decoration in conditions of awareness options execution of both. Having read the material presented above, you are taking a big step towards meeting new opportunities.

Below is a gallery of photos of fences for giving, so that you can see the variety of performance suburban fences and could choose the most suitable for you, which will satisfy all your requirements, ranging from appearance to safety. All images are enlarged to full size by clicking on them.

Building a fence is one of the tasks that sooner or later, but will definitely face the owner. land plot. As a house begins with a porch, so the site begins with a fence. Therefore, the issue of fencing is recommended to be given due attention. To build a structure on your own or with the involvement of specialists - the answer to this question is individual in each case, but many are trying to build the cheapest fence. When building a fence on your own, it turns out to significantly save on the wages of employees and, no less important, get useful experience. Of course, when embarking on such a large-scale work, it should be understood that this is not a matter of one day and there will be a lot of trouble, but if everything is done according to the rules, then the new fence will please its owner for a long time.

The choice of material for a cheap fence

First you need to decide which material to choose for construction in order to get a cheap fence. Fences are divided into two types: solid (capital) and with gaps. A solid fence will securely enclose the site from the eyes of strangers with a blank wall, creating an atmosphere of isolation and reliability. In this case, it is recommended to choose materials such as brick, metal profile, concrete plates, boards. A fence with gaps will allow you to protect the site from the adjacent territory, but at the same time visually increase the space. The gaze will not stop at a blank wall, which will provide psychological comfort. The construction of such light fencing will require other materials: a lattice, a chain-link mesh will do here. You can also build a low wooden fence. Or you can do something radically different and use it as a fence hedge. This will be the cheapest fence.

Despite the fact that the main task of the fence is to protect and reliably protect the territory from outside interference, the fence also has a purely decorative function. Therefore, its appearance is very important.

In order not to make a mistake when choosing a material for the construction of a fence, you should clearly understand the advantages and disadvantages of each of them.

board fence

This is practically the cheapest fence for giving.

Consider its advantages:

  • natural material;
  • democratic price.

There are also disadvantages:

  • short service life;
  • regular care is needed: the fence cracks, paint peels off it.

Wooden boards are one of the easiest materials to work with. Building such a cheap wooden fence on your own will be easy even for beginners in carpentry. Purchased should be finalized (trimmed, sanded, varnished or painted).

If you don’t want to mess around with the erection of a fence yourself, you can purchase finished structure. But this option will be several times more expensive.

The cheapest fences (photos of their construction options can be seen in the article) for giving - a palisade of stakes. You can also make a wicker fence from branches.

brick fence

This is not the cheapest fence to give.

  • long service life;
  • high strength, not afraid of vandals;
  • representative look.
  • the fence will be expensive;
  • you can not do without a solid foundation, which implies additional costs.

Metal profile fence

Immediately find out what advantages and disadvantages this fence has.

  • factory production provides a variety of appearance: any color, wave size, coating is available;
  • simple installation;
  • affordable price;
  • practicality;
  • durability: the service life is more than one dozen years.
  • primitive appearance.

In order for the fence made of metal profiles (corrugated board) to look better, it is appropriate to combine it with bricks. Such a fence turns out to be very strong, but not as expensive as a completely brick one. Therefore, this approach is very popular.

Concrete slab fencing

Consider the advantages of such a fence:

  • extremely high strength: in this indicator, concrete exceeds brick several times;
  • high durability - up to 100 years;
  • a wide variety of forms.
  • such a fence cannot be built completely on its own; the help of qualified specialists and equipment will be required.

Wire mesh fencing

A cheap do-it-yourself fence can be built from a chain-link mesh.

  • reliability: modern chain-link mesh is not subject to corrosion due to galvanization and polymer coating;
  • long service life - at least 30 years;
  • does not obscure the site, visually increases the space.
  • like any fence with gaps, it does not protect from prying eyes.

Cheap DIY fence made of wood

Consider the main stages of the construction of a wooden fence:

  • It is necessary to mark the boundaries of the land.
  • Pillars are inserted into pre-dug holes 25-30 cm deep - the main load-bearing elements of the structure. Poles should be located at a distance of no more than 2.5 m from each other. Verticality is checked with a plumb bob. To prevent the pillars from tilting, they can be concreted.
  • A square wooden beam 50x50 mm or larger is attached to the posts.
  • Mounted transverse bearing bars.
  • Attached to cross bars edged boards. The gap between the boards should be 1.5-2 cm.
  • Covering the entire structure with varnish or painting with facade paint.

Before installation, all boards must be treated with anti-rotting agents.

Cheap fences for summer cottages from metal profiles: self-construction

It is not difficult to build a fence from corrugated board if you follow the following sequence of actions:

  • The boundaries of the land plot are marked.
  • Holes 1-1.2 m deep are drilled along the border line.
  • Crushed stone or gravel (20-25 cm) is poured into the holes.
  • Metal poles with a cross section of at least 50 x 50 mm are stuck into the recesses. Verticality is checked by a plumb or level.
  • To prevent the roll of the pillars, they should be concreted.
  • Transverse carriers (2-3 pcs.) Of metal pipe rectangular shape.
  • Attached to cross bars

Often, metal profile sheets are fastened with self-tapping screws, but this way installation has several disadvantages. Firstly, rust may form at the attachment points, so only special self-tapping screws with an EPDM gasket should be used. Secondly, self-tapping screws are easily unscrewed, which thieves successfully use to steal corrugated sheets. To prevent similar situations it is recommended to use special riveting for metal.

Important Points

1. In order for a cheap fence to stand for as long as possible, the strongest supports should be used. Most reliably they can be used even for wooden fences, which will significantly extend the service life.

2. An important element of any fence is the gate. You should decide in advance on their type and method of attachment. Gates are of different types: sectional, swing, folding. First, a rectangular frame of the desired size is welded. It can be sheathed with the same material from which the fence is made.

3. Handles are attached to the gate door on both sides, if necessary, a deadbolt is installed. The gates are mounted on a supporting frame with strong steel canopies.

When using a padlock on the gate, you will need to attach metal hinges for it. For mortise lock it is necessary to make recesses for the lock and tongue.

If you follow these simple rules and recommendations, the work of building a fence on your own will not seem difficult, and the result will please you for a long time. Do not forget that cheap fences for summer cottages, like any building structure require periodic maintenance and minor repairs.
