How best to attach blinds. How to attach blinds to plastic windows without drilling. Installation of horizontal type systems

Consumers have only now begun to appreciate all the advantages of blinds and have realized that the use of this subject perhaps not only in office premises. Fastening blinds to plastic windows provides good protection from sunlight, without interfering with the opening of window sashes and ventilation of the room.

Design options

Blinds are divided into the following types:

  • horizontal;
  • vertical;
  • roll;
  • pleated.

The slats for them are made from the following materials:

  • plastic;
  • metal;
  • fabrics;
  • wood;
  • bamboo

Horizontal blinds They are, of course, horizontally located and fixed to each other lamellas. They rotate around an axis and rise up when opened. The mobility of such a curtain is carried out using a chain.

Vertical work similarly to horizontal ones. Move according to your wishes: to the right, left or from the center in different directions.

Roller blinds They cover the entire window area and are a single sheet that can always be rolled up.

Pleated blinds have an unusual texture. Curtains that have been corrugated and impregnated with a special compound for strength can be horizontal or vertical. They are assembled with an accordion and can be mounted on a window opening or on a frame. The structure is controlled using a cord or chain.

Which ones to choose for the balcony?

Since in the summer all rooms are always ventilated, it is worth thinking about whether it is necessary to install blinds on plastic windows for a balcony or loggia? Will they interfere with the constant opening and closing of the doors? The answer is clear - you need blinds on the balcony. Especially when the balcony is turned into a separate room.

When choosing of this element decor for the balcony, carefully study the features of fastening the blinds. Of course, you should not forget about personal preferences and tastes. Thanks to the variety of configurations, materials and color shades, you can choose light filters for any interior, but follow several rules when choosing:

  • balcony windows often open, so blinds must be practical;
  • their fastenings must be reliable and functional;
  • for a balcony it is better to choose fabric or plastic models, since wooden and metal ones make a lot of noise;
  • not all types of blinds fastening are suitable for balcony windows , in particular for sliding and aluminum ones.

Tip: Plastic blinds will be the most the best option for balconies and loggias. They do not fade in the sun, are light in weight, easy to use, easy to clean and maintain a decent quality for a long time. appearance.

How to decide on your own sizes

Those who decide to install blinds with their own hands need to know that measuring the window requires special accuracy. Get the most exact result can be done using a steel tape measure. An important condition This process is carried out with precision down to the millimeter. Not a single window (window opening) has an ideal rectangular shape, so any parameter is measured in several places.

Before taking measurements, you need to decide on the installation method, that is, how to attach the blinds to plastic windows:

  • into the opening;
  • on the wall;
  • on the sash.

Measuring rules for each type of fastening

  1. Measurements for fastening blinds to the opening are made according to the width and length of the window opening. Their length is equal to the height of the glass with a margin of 1 cm and taking into account the sealing rubber bands. To determine the width of the blinds, add the width of one sealing rubber to the width of the window glass. It is necessary to ensure that the curtain rod does not rest against the hinges and slopes. The length of the blind chain should be 2/3 the height of the window. The chain is usually located on the loop side. It is also necessary to take into account that when assembled, the blinds do not interfere with the opening of the window.
  2. When attaching blinds to the wall their height is determined independently. They can completely cover the window opening or be slightly higher than the window sill. Their width should be 10 cm greater than the width of the window opening. In this case, it is also necessary to take into account that the curtain rod will take up approximately 5 cm from the top.
  3. When attaching blinds to PVC windows on the sash The distance between two vertical beads is measured. To determine the length of the blinds, the length of the window is measured. If you do not plan to leave a side gap, then you need to add 30 mm to the width of the blinds.

Advice: If you are afraid of making a mistake in your calculations, seek the help of specialists who will correctly measure your blinds.

Mounting methods

Before hanging the blinds, you need to decide whether you need a window sill to place, for example, flowers. Blinds are attached in two ways: without drilling or by drilling. The cornice is the basis of any blinds. It is the cornice that is attached to the ceiling, to the wall, in window opening or to the sash. Special brackets can serve as support for the cornice.

Installation of blinds using drilling

If the curtains are hung on each window sash, then fastening is carried out using self-tapping screws. The top bar of the blinds is applied to the top edge of the double-glazed window, where the attachment points are marked with particular precision. For more accurate fastening, you can pre-drill small holes. Then the brackets are applied to the marked places under the very top of the double-glazed window frame and securely fastened with self-tapping screws using a screwdriver, after which the blinds are installed on them.

Next, a fishing line is attached to hold the slats. To do this, two holes are made on the frame under the lower glazing beads of each sash. The holes are drilled exactly under the corresponding line exits located on the top bar of the blinds. The lower ends of the fishing line threaded into the blind system are threaded into the plugs. The plugs, in turn, are threaded into the holes made, and the fishing line is stretched.

This fastening method is used to install roller or horizontal blinds. Vertical curtains are attached to the upper slope of the window, to the wall or to the ceiling also by drilling. First, holes are drilled in the ceiling or wall using a hammer drill into which dowels are inserted. The curtain rod is screwed on with screws.

Installation of blinds without drilling

If you have to remove and put away the blinds in the future, the holes will become a big drawback to the appearance of the window. Therefore, to install blinds on a window sash, you can use brackets, which can be attached to the frame in the following ways:

  • fastening for top part profile if the sash opens;
  • using double-sided tape.

Using magnets on the flap (bottom), the blinds are held parallel to the window when it is opened.

These methods are more gentle and safer in terms of damage to the metal-plastic frame. Attaching blinds to windows without drilling is quite reliable. And you can remove them for cleaning, for example, with almost one movement of your hand.

All blinds have the correct geometric shape, so the markings for attaching the top strip of the blinds must be done with extreme precision. The slightest distortion will ruin general view windows, and will also impede the operation of the moving filter mechanisms.

Mounting features

Rolled

Roller blinds are best installed directly onto the window sash. This method is associated with ease of installation and subsequent operation. Blinds installed in other ways do not allow the window to be opened when closed curtains. The parts of roller blinds are made of plastic, so the structures require careful handling during installation.

It may also be useful to you in landscaping. You will find instructions for installing it on a balcony here.

Horizontal

An important feature of horizontal blinds is the ability to be installed in places where installation and operation of other types of blinds is impossible for a number of reasons. They can completely close the window, or be installed on each sash, and it is also possible to place horizontal blinds between the frames.

Vertical

Blinds of this type are attached in three ways:

  • to the upper slope of the window;
  • on the wall;
  • on the ceiling.

Attached only by drilling. Particular care must be taken when drilling a slope with a hammer drill, otherwise part of the wall may break off.

How to remove blinds

We have looked at options for installing blinds on a window, but there comes a time when these curtains, even the most reliable and durable ones, need to be cleaned or washed. To do this, they must be removed. How to remove blinds and how is this process performed depending on their type?

How to remove vertical

  • Open the slats and assemble them together.
  • Remove the chain from the weights, pull out the weights.
  • Remove each lamella: the elongated part of the slider clip is moved to the side, the lamella is raised up, then moved to the side.

How to remove horizontal

  • Unfasten the cornice from the brackets.
  • If there is a decorative cover, remove it.
  • Lift the slats up and find the tabs of the clamps on the top edge.
  • Pull the lock first towards you and then to the right.
  • Pull the curtains forward and down.
  • Remove the entire structure.

How to remove roll

  • The tongue located on the bracket is bent with a screwdriver.
  • The shaft is removed from the bracket by moving towards you or downwards.

Instructions for installing blinds

This section demonstrates video instructions on how to install blinds on metal-plastic windows. Installation is carried out using self-tapping screws on the window sash.

Interior design often involves choosing window decor. Today, horizontal blinds are increasingly used for such purposes. Designs of this type are easy to control and long term operation. Installing blinds requires special skills, so a beginner cannot always solve this problem. If you do not know how to install horizontal blinds on plastic windows, be sure to consult a specialist.

Advantages

Horizontal blinds are several thin plates that are connected to each other by a thread. This allows you to control their location in different planes. Such designs come in several types, each of which differs in the material of the lamellas.

The most common modifications are blinds made of aluminum plates. This product has many advantages:

  1. The metal perfectly withstands temperature changes and is also not susceptible to destruction under the influence of ultraviolet radiation.
  2. The lamellas are light in weight, but at the same time have a fairly large margin of safety. They resist deflections well.
  3. They don't burn.
  4. The material does not accumulate dust, grease and odors. Perfect for both a modern office and a home kitchen.
  5. The service life can reach 20-30 years (with proper care).
  6. Relatively simple and quick installation.
  7. Easy to care for. To clean the surface, simply wipe the surface with a damp sponge periodically.
  8. The design takes up little space, which allows you to install them in almost any interior.

Another popular type of horizontal blinds are wooden products. This product has the following advantages:

  1. The material protects the room very well from light penetration.
  2. The wood does not heat up.
  3. The products are environmentally friendly. They do not accumulate dust, which allows them to be used in the bedroom or nursery.
  4. Unique design. Lamels are made from various wood species. This allows you to choose a design at your discretion.

It should be understood that wood is afraid of moisture, so it is not recommended to use such blinds in the kitchen or other wet rooms.

Lamels today are also made from polymer materials. Plastic blinds have the following features:

  1. The quality of light protection is the best among all the models reviewed.
  2. Cleaning the plastic is quite easy. In this case, you can use almost all household detergents.
  3. The material tolerates moisture well.
  4. The service life is practically unlimited.
  5. The plastic construction is lightweight and small in size.
  6. Plastic tolerates high temperatures well. This allows you to install blinds even in swimming pools and bathrooms.
  7. Ease of use.
  8. Relatively low price.

But plastic is not universal material. Blinds should not be installed near any heat sources. This can lead to deformation of the plates. Also, the polymer quickly fades in the sun and gradually turns yellow.

Mounting methods

Horizontal blinds are available in various sizes and modifications, which can be adapted to the specific characteristics of the window. Such systems can be mounted in various places:

  1. To the ceiling. This type of placement is only possible for solid foundations.
  2. On the sash. Fixation occurs directly on the window frame itself. Often, such options are found when small-sized blinds are used for each individual glass.
  3. To the wall. One of the most popular installation methods. It is used for structures that completely cover the entire surface of the window.
  4. In the window opening. Here, installation can be carried out directly on the base of the frame or on the ceiling of the slopes.

When choosing the location of blinds, you should take into account their functionality and design features. All these characteristics must be qualitatively combined with each other.

Preparation for installation and measurements

Installation of horizontal blinds is technically possible without specific experience. The procedure for marking the fasteners begins. To do this, the structure is applied to the future location and the locations of the brackets are marked. It is important that the system is positioned strictly horizontally.

If the products were sold disassembled, then the blinds should be assembled before marking. All such operations should be performed only on the basis of the manufacturer’s instructions. This will avoid distortion and possible damage to the elements during operation.

When marking, it is important to consider the location of the product. The mechanism should not interfere with the opening of the valves, unless, of course, it is mounted directly on top of it.

Installation methods

No drilling

Many manufacturers have simplified the installation method for horizontal blinds as much as possible. You can attach this structure yourself using the following fasteners:

  • Double sided tape. Fastening can be done either directly using adhesive tape or using special brackets. The last option involves fixing the fasteners using this tape. Please note that this installation option is only possible on the window sash itself. To obtain a reliable fixation, it is important to pre-degrease its surface. After this, marking is done. It is necessary that the canvas be positioned strictly parallel to the plumb line. If there is a misalignment, then this will lead to rapid wear of the control mechanism. When the entire system is aligned, you can fix the structure on the window.
  • Clamps. Similar option Can only be used for opening sashes. The installation process involves fixing the clamps directly to the cornice. To do this, you just need to put them on. After this, the sash is opened and these fasteners are hung on it. This is quite simple to do, as you just need to press the mechanism a little and it will click into place.

With drilling

A more universal way to install blinds is to use special metal brackets. With their help, you can mount products both on the wall or ceiling, and directly on plastic sash windows.

This operation consists of the following sequential steps:

  1. Initially, the location of the cornice is selected and markings are made.
  2. Forming holes. Please note that if you mark the places for them incorrectly, this will lead to skew. Since there is no need for extra holes in the wall, everything should be done carefully.
  3. Attaching the brackets. To do this, use special screws or anchors, which are often included in the kit.
  4. Installation of cornice. This element is fixed with special latches. This operation does not require significant effort.
  5. Installation of canvas.

It should be noted that this method of fastening does not depend on the location of the cornice. The only difference here is the type of bracket and the location of the latches on the surface of the blind frame.

How to hang it on a window opening?

The algorithm for installing blinds on a wall consists of several sequential steps:

  1. First of all, you need to determine whether all components are available. If the blinds have a width of more than 2 m, then they must be supplemented with intermediate fastening. This eliminates sagging of the cornice.
  2. The next step is marking. To do this, the blinds are placed above the window in the right place. Then they retreat from the ends by about 3 cm and mark the locations of the brackets.
  3. When all the marks have been made, use a drill to drill holes for the dowels. It is important to choose the correct hole diameter in order to form a strong connection between the fastener and the wall. If the structure is wide, then you need to drill a hole in the middle in a similar way for an additional dowel. Please note that for heavy aluminum or wooden blinds, the distance of the end screws must be at least 10 cm from the edge of the cornice.
  4. When the brackets are screwed, the cornice is hung on them. It can be fixed in several ways. The most convenient mechanism is considered to be self-latching locks. More simple products need to be screwed to the frame using self-tapping screws or self-tapping screws.

The process of installing blinds in the opening itself can be described by the following sequential actions:

  1. Initially, the technical equipment of the product is checked. Pay attention to the size of the cornice. The method of attaching it depends on this.
  2. Assembly of blinds. The process is carried out in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.
  3. Marking. To do this, the cornice is installed on the plastic window sash. Sometimes installation is possible on the ceiling of the opening or on the wall that is formed above the frame frame. When taking measurements, it is important to check whether the blinds do not interfere with the movement of the opening sashes. The mounting locations for the brackets are also marked on the base.
  4. After this, holes are drilled and fasteners are attached. You should not drill deeply, as you can make a through hole. If fixation occurs directly on plastic, special screws should be used.
  5. The process ends with hanging the cornice and canvas. This process is similar to that described in the previous section.

There are many types of light-protective sheets, but they have common features. All of them consist of a metal tube-roller, or rod, on which fabric is wound: bamboo or cotton material. The length is adjusted using a chain that is attached to a rotating mechanism on one side of the roll.

Usually at the bottom of the curtain there is a steel or wooden weight bar that protects it from deformation, allows it to hang evenly and fit tightly to the glass. The latter is achieved using a pair of small magnets that are glued to the bottom of the frame and attract the weighting material, if it is metal.

You can take a more complicated route and thread a fishing line through the guides, which will hold the roller shutter during wind fluctuations and opening in the “window” mode. It must first be threaded into the upper fasteners several times so that when tensioned it does not pull out. Unwind it all the way and insert it into the special eyelet on the weight bar. At the bottom of the frame, attach small corners with holes for fishing line. Pull it there, tie it, cut off the excess.

Sometimes manufacturers install a spring inside the shaft. In this case, there is no need to fiddle with the cord with your hands to open or close it. It is enough to pull the plumb line located on the bottom bar with a little effort.

Dimensions

They are different. The length can reach 1.5 m. Standard width- 50 cm, but there are models 30 cm, and 150, and more. Very small roller blinds, designed literally for one double-glazed window, are called “mini”. Sometimes they are hung together with ordinary curtains, especially if you need to combine two tasks: to shade the room as much as possible.

Species

Open

They are also called classic. The shaft on which the roll is wound is visible to everyone, but this does not spoil the interior. Moreover, there is a significant plus. The crossbar can be shortened if available suitable tools. The canvas itself can also be adjusted to fit the opening if you made a mistake with the dimensions or simply didn’t find the perfect one in the store suitable option.

Open structures are most often installed on small ones. Those that can be hung without drilling the frame have PVC clips on both sides of the top edge; they have holes into which both ends of the metal rod are then inserted. These clamps are held on fasteners that are pre-drilled to the wall with screws.

Models that require mounting directly on the frame can be mounted either with self-tapping screws or Velcro. The first option is the most reliable, but it’s not suitable for everyone: the warranty on double-glazed windows expires or you don’t want holes to remain on the crossbar after removing the decor. The second method is especially good for “mini” type products, which, due to their low weight, can be held for years on corner clamps that are placed on the open sash.

Cassette

They, like open analogues, can be different sizes, including “standard” and “mini”. You can also fix them using self-tapping screws or double-sided tape. They differ from the previous category in appearance: the textile roller is hidden in a compact plastic box located on the frame. And they are not attached to the wall above the opening - it’s clean. They cost more than the first type, but they look neater.

Cassette varieties, both with and without a spring, are mounted only on glazing beads, and not on the entire opening. They are particularly demanding in terms of measurement accuracy. Otherwise, the cassette will not fit or the rod will not be enough to “catch” the opposite edges of the sash. Please note that when unfolded they cover about half of the window sill. Therefore, if it is occupied by flowers or other decor, it is better to choose a system that is installed above the opening. Otherwise, it will not be possible to fully expand it.

Degree of transparency

The material for making roller shutters is most often dense fabric. It can be cotton, synthetics or mixed materials. The degree of transparency varies depending on the fabric. Based on this feature, three types of roller shutters are distinguished; they are presented in the table.

Relatively recently, an interesting variety has appeared, with the ability to regulate the degree of illumination of the room. It is called a day/night or zebra roller blind. These are two panels, each of which is assembled from strips of transparent and light-proof fabric. The strips move one relative to the other, either completely darkening the room or allowing access to the sun's rays.

The materials for making roller shutters are impregnated with special compounds, so they repel dirt, do not attract dust, and do not become electrified. The finishing of the panels can be very different. Photo printing has been especially popular lately, which allows you to create very interesting solutions for interior decoration.

Roller blinds for plastic windows

Installation sequence:

  1. We outline the locations of the fasteners.
  2. We drill holes, put the side clamps in place, and secure them with self-tapping screws.
  3. We put the roller with the cloth in place and close the plugs.
  4. We prepare the guides for installation, remove the protective tape from the self-adhesive layer. Lower the curtain by 20-25 cm.
  5. We place the canvas under the guides and carefully glue them in place.
  6. We install limiters on the chain mechanism or a decorative weight on the weight bar. We check the functionality.

Installation of cassette models

  1. First apply the markings.
  2. Using a level, adjust the “horizon” of the location of the roller shutter.
  3. Drill holes at the marked points.
  4. Using self-tapping screws at the top of the glass unit, screw the box with the roll rolled up inside it.
  5. If you don't want to make holes, use tape at least a millimeter thick. But first, work some magic on the markings so that the box hangs evenly.

Fastening roller shutters “mix”

Models that can be opened not only from the bottom, but also from the top are becoming very popular. We'll tell you how to hang them. Measurements are taken along the outer edges of the beads: both in width and height. This will be the perimeter of the fabric cut, and the whole product will be 26 mm wider due to the box. The package includes a fishing line that needs to be cut in half.

Installation sequence

  1. We stretch the end of the fishing line into the hole of each fastening and tie it with a double knot.
  2. Using self-tapping screws, we fix all four fastenings (a pair of lower and upper ones) to the glazing beads.
  3. We insert the line first into the lower bar, then into the upper one.
  4. We thread the free ends of the cable into the holes of both upper fasteners.
  5. Tighten the fastening clamp with a screwdriver, slightly tensioning the fishing line.
  6. We stretch the fishing line to the lower fastenings and fix it there.
  7. Trim off the excess cord.

That's it, the fabric cassette can move up and down, revealing the panorama of the street the way you want. The box can also be made motionless by screwing it to the frame through special holes. Whatever installation option you choose, remember that the control chain needs to be moved away from children’s hands if there is a child in the house. Install the holder for it at such a height that the baby cannot reach it. We invite you to watch a video on how to secure roll

Roller shutters are a good solution for any interior. They are practical, beautiful and allow you to effectively regulate the level of illumination in the room. Especially good for this roller blinds night/day. For those who do not want to give up traditional curtains, we can advise using them in combination with rolls. The result is very interesting and functional combinations.

  • Material prepared by: Natalya Utochkina

Installing blinds solves many problems with window decoration. Curtains, drapes, tulles, no matter what fabric they are made from, require frequent washing, as dust and dirt accumulate on them. The thickness of the curtains determines how well they transmit or block light.

Blinds are much more convenient than curtains in many aspects.

Depending on the angle at which the lamellas are located, they completely open access to natural light into the room, partially block it, gently diffuse it, or completely isolate the room not only from light, but also from thermal radiation. They do not require special care, and installing blinds yourself is not difficult.

Varieties

Horizontal

The light-protective design with horizontal lamellas has become familiar, almost classic for window design.

Advantages:

  • Compactness. Installed directly on the window, leaving the window sill free. This saves space and allows you to place greenery on the window in favorable conditions;
  • Light weight structure;
  • Strength and rigidity of the lamellas, preventing deformation;
  • Fire safety;
  • Simple control mechanism;
  • Special coating or impregnation against dust, dirt, odors and grease;
  • Resistance to humidity and temperature changes;
  • Various materials for the manufacture of lamellas: wood, plastic, aluminum, less often fabric;
  • Easy installation;
  • Affordable price.

Some disadvantages are worth mentioning:

  • When mounted on a frame, the angle of inclination of window sashes when opening is limited;
  • The slats produce a characteristic knocking or ringing sound when the wind blows. To avoid this, you need to purchase lower fasteners, which are not included in the kit and quickly become unusable;
  • The structure is subject to repair if several slats are severely deformed, but it will cost the same as new blinds;
  • Not suitable for balconies and loggias with sliding windows.

Vertical

They are distinguished from horizontal ones by:

  • More aesthetic appearance. Horizontal blinds are more likely to be functional, while vertical blinds are decorative;
  • Possibility to cover large area one cornice. Horizontal blinds typically consist of narrow slats and are designed for minimalist decor. Not large windows. Vertical models have different widths and easily cover the area of large windows, arches and doorways.
  • Variety of materials. They can be made of wood fibers, wood, aluminum, bamboo, plastic, woven and non-woven fabric, mirror, blackout, thread. The abundance of materials provides another advantage - variability of colors and textures;
  • Modern and original design windows that open up more design possibilities;
  • Simplicity of control mechanisms. Both mechanical and electrical are possible;
  • The ability to place photo printing on the “curtains” due to the larger surface and best characteristics material;
  • Practicality. Larger slats are easier to wipe when necessary, which does not arise often. If, in the event of severe contamination, for example, in a children's room, the slats still need to be subjected to hygienic procedures, this will not take much time - they can be washed by hand and in a washing machine;
  • Possibility of installation on non-standard windows(triangle, trapezoid, arch, bay window);
  • The structure is subject to repair. To replace this or that part, you do not need to call a specialist; it is simple enough to do it yourself. You can replace the slats one at a time without having to dismantle the entire structure.

Vertical blinds, as the name suggests, are a simple and convenient light-protection structure consisting of longitudinal vertical plates.

Rolled

Roller blinds and roller shutters are solid fabrics, often made of textiles, but other materials are also possible, which, like horizontal blinds, are rolled up. The height can be adjusted by fixing the curtain with a weighting agent on the bottom strip of the canvas.

There are different types of roller shutters: with an open drum (for mounting directly on the window) and with a decorative cornice; “mini” for installation on each frame separately and “roll-cassette” for covering the entire window.

There is an opinion that roller blinds are the most budget-friendly and practical option for window design, but this is not entirely true. Of course Roller shutters have their advantages: variety of natural and synthetic fabrics, colors and patterns, ease of care (allowed wet cleaning) and operation, the ability to fix the curtain at the desired height, special impregnations against dust, moisture, high temperatures and glare, compatibility with other types of curtains. It is convenient if you need to hide a room from the sun, or decorate a window with beautiful tulle so that from the street you cannot see what is happening inside.

But with so many advantages, they also have significant disadvantages.:

  • Budget price– this is a misconception. Yes, a medium-sized curtain made from a common material will not cost much, but it will look boring. In order for the window design to be complete, it is necessary to consider additional decor, and this increases the cost several times;
  • Roller blinds in the bedroom, office and rooms with high windows need electrical control. Electric drive designs are expensive, and some manufacturers also produce noise;
  • Impossible make a custom curtain from a specific textile. You can only choose specific products of a specific brand, since the range of fabrics for the production of roller blinds is very limited: translucent, textured, reflective, perforated, blackout and that’s all, perhaps;
  • Maximum width roller blinds – 280-300cm, that is, cover a large area with one curtain rod, for example, panoramic window or the balcony will not work;
  • They can There will be problems with installation not on the wall, but in the window opening, since the bobbin is wider in width than the curtain itself. On the sides window openings There will inevitably be gaps. Ceiling or wall mounting is preferable.

Pleated

This type of blinds is similar to both horizontal and roller blinds. The design consists of a control mechanism (chain or electric drive), weights, and pleated fabric that resembles accordion bellows.

The range of materials, colors and textures is very diverse.

Peculiarities:

  • They close from top to bottom, like classic canvases, from bottom to top, or from both sides at the same time. In this case, the degree of density of the “accordion” can be adjusted, thus closing either the upper, lower, or central part of the window;
  • Suitable for covering irregularly shaped windows;
  • Optimal solution for attic, attic, ceiling and inclined windows;
  • “Opening”, the canvas is compactly folded and hidden inside the cornice;
  • Convenient for installation on all types of windows;
  • Various ways fastenings and control mechanisms (manual and electric);
  • The woven fabric is washable;
  • The curtain fabric can be made of two types of fabric at the same time, which makes it possible to regulate the degree of transparency, darkness, and sun protection;
  • Easy installation can be done by yourself.

Types of pleated:

  • Classic. In appearance they are most similar to horizontal blinds, but they can also be vertical. Made from fabric, paper or plastic. Designed to darken the room, protect against heating sun rays, zoning the interior space of the room.

  • Corrugated. This type is a vertical and horizontal double pleat. As a result, the folds look smoother, neater and denser. Corrugation made of plastic and paper in this design absorbs a significant part of the heat and protects from bright light.

  • Inclined. A type of pleated specifically for windows that are located at an angle in the attic or ceiling. Their peculiarity is in a specific assembly system, which does not allow the canvas of any material to sag when at an angle. Mostly inclined models are produced with electronic control.

  • Arched. The most flexible canvases that take any shape, like a paper fan. A good solution for rooms with non-standard window shapes (arches, trapezoids, triangles, sloping windows).

  • "Day-Night". The fabric of such blinds consists of two layers of fabric: light fabric that transmits a large amount of light for daytime use and dense, dark fabric for protection from bright sun during the day and prying eyes in the evening.

Cassette

Such systems involve either the use of horizontal slats or a solid fabric, but are not horizontal blinds or roller blinds. They differ in the types of cassettes (angular, round, flat), controls ( various types mechanical and remote), materials used (plastic, textiles, bamboo, aluminum).

Their main feature consists in a design whose special structure makes it possible to fix the blinds at a minimum distance from the window glass. This prevents deformation, sagging, wrinkles and unevenness, and completely opens the window sill.

Advantages:

  • Compactness. Cassette blinds take up a minimum of space, leaving owners the opportunity to use their imagination and organize additional window decoration or leave the window sill as a functional surface;
  • Simple and clear type of control;
  • Long term services. Special impregnation protects the canvas from dust, grease, dirt, moisture, abrasion;
  • Ease of hygiene procedures. Cassette systems do not require special care. It is enough to wipe their small surface area with a damp sponge and soapy water once every few months;
  • Variety of designs for interiors in any style;
  • The tight fit of the canvas to the surface of the glass protects equally well from heat and cold;
  • Possibility to install the system yourself;
  • A variety of materials - from light window decoration to total blackout protection;
  • Possibility to combine blinds with curtains, tulle, lambrequin.

Mounting methods

There are three types of fastening blinds: to the wall, to the ceiling, directly to the frame, and two ways - with and without drilling.

The universal basis of any fastening is the cornice, which is attached to the wall, frame or ceiling in different ways.

With drilling

This is done using self-tapping screws, brackets on which the cornice and fishing line are installed. Additionally, you will need a pencil, ruler, drill, and screwdriver.

First you need to make markings in the places where the brackets will be located.

For reliability and accuracy, it is necessary to drill holes for the clamps in the marked places. Then, applying the brackets one by one to the PVC frame, use a screwdriver to secure them to the markings. Next, the cornice is installed and the entire structure is assembled.

No drilling

If you plan to replace blinds or other window decoration options in the future, it is not recommended to damage plastic windows. The holes from the screws will remain in the frame forever and will significantly spoil the appearance of the windows. In this case, it is easier to turn to a method that does not require drilling.

In this case, the brackets are attached in two ways:

  • by the upper part of the PVC profile on the opening doors (you can simply hang it like a hook);
  • on double sided tape, which can be glued without fear of leaving marks.

Mounting blinds on the balcony requires a special approach. Plays an important role here balcony design. The type of glazing determines the possibility of choosing certain blinds and the method of their fastening. In general, almost all options are available for balconies. Special attention In this case, you should pay attention to the type of blinds, since not all of them are universal for different types windows For example, horizontal blinds are not suitable for a balcony with sliding windows, as they can become deformed during use or from strong winds.

Measurements and markings

The final result depends on how correctly the measurements are taken.

Even expensive ones beautiful models will not look good on the window if there are gaps in the opening or the edges of the slats constantly ride up against the wall.

It is important to pay attention to the following points:

  • For the most accurate indicators, a steel tape measure is used;
  • The obtained figures cannot be rounded; accuracy must be maintained to the nearest millimeter;
  • When ordering blinds, the width parameter is indicated first, length – second;
  • Not a single window opening has absolutely perfect geometric shapes, therefore measurements in height and width must be made at least at two points.

Horizontal

If you plan to attach blinds to the movable half of the window, you will need to measure the gap between the glazing beads and add 30 mm or more, which will prevent gaps from appearing in the structure. The height of the blinds is equal to the height of the window sash.

For installation inside a window opening, measurements are required at three points in height and width, since openings are not always absolutely proportional.

The width is identical to the wide side of the glass plus the thickness of the rubber seal. The length is identical to the height of the window (including elastic bands) and has a margin of 1cm. To install the cornice, you will need an additional 30-40 cm to the slopes and hinges. The control chain is 2/3 of the window height.

When choosing to fix the cornice on the wall, the width parameter increases by 10 cm, the height is measured from the point of attachment of the brackets to the floor at random.

Vertical

When installing in a window opening, you need to determine the width at the top of the arch and subtract 20 mm. To determine the height, compare the height of the left and right side arches, subtract 1cm from the smaller value.

For wall mounting, you need to add at least 10 cm to the wide side of the slope. The length of the slats can be any, but it is recommended to retreat 2 cm from the edge of the blinds to the floor.

Ceiling installation involves determining the height (to the floor or window sill) minus 2 cm, it is recommended to increase the width of the arch by 100+ mm.

Rolled

To install canvases to the wall, only one measurement is required - from the edge of the window sill to the markings for the brackets, and the width can be up to 300 cm.

In the window arch, roller blinds are installed after measuring the width, from which you need to subtract 4 centimeters, and the length of the curtain is equal to the height of the window minus 15 mm.

Pleated curtains similarly do not require a professional approach to taking measurements and installation.

Installation of vertical models

Vertical blinds are the most convenient way window decoration for independent execution. They are attached in three ways: to the ceiling, to the frame with drilling, to the frame without drilling.

In all cases, the fastener is a cornice with decorative facade or without it.

The brackets on which the structure is supported are fastened with self-tapping screws, hung or glued with double-sided tape. The special tape, despite its seeming impracticality, is fixed very firmly, so it is important to correctly apply the markings for installing the brackets. Once they are glued, moving them will be very problematic.

The procedure for installing vertical blinds:

  1. Preparing tools. You will need a stepladder, a set of screws from the kit, a building level and drawing supplies, a drill, and a screwdriver.
  2. Applying pencil markings for installing brackets. For reliable fixation fasteners, it is recommended to drill holes for self-tapping screws at the same stage.
  3. Attaching the brackets in a suitable way(with or without drilling).
  4. Installation of cornice.
  5. Installation of slats. To do this, you need to pull the control cord on which the fastenings for the slats are located so that they fit into desired position. Then fix all the slats on the hooks of the fasteners.

Installation of horizontal

For installation you will need a set of tools: drill, Phillips screwdriver, screwdriver, drawing supplies.

The instructions for installing horizontal blinds on windows contain a list of items that are carried out step by step:

  1. Draw a marking line for installing brackets. It must take into account the distance between the clamps and the control mechanism, between the brackets (from 60 cm) and to the extreme areas on the blinds (25 cm). At large width For blinds and significant weight, it is recommended to use intermediate fastenings.
  2. Drill holes for installing dowels on the surface to which you plan to attach the brackets. It is possible to use blinds on plastic windows without drilling.
  3. Profile installation.
  4. Fixing the top rod of the blinds on the brackets. It is important to remember that the blinds at this stage are already assembled.

Working with horizontal models on inclined surfaces requires a little more effort and skill.

How to hang roller blinds?

Like other types, roller blinds or shutters are attached in several ways: they can be hung, glued, or attached to a frame.

First way– the simplest and most accessible for do-it-yourself installation is a fastening without drilling based on double-sided adhesive tape. Suitable for tilt-and-turn mechanisms on windows. Performed step by step:

  1. Degreasing the areas of the frame and fasteners that will be connected with adhesive tape.
  2. Marking the fastening of roller shutters.
  3. Installation of roller blinds. The chain mechanism can be installed on any convenient side.
  4. Assembly of brackets.
  5. Marking for fastening brackets. To do this, you need to install them on the assembled roller blind, install it on the window without fastening, mark with a pencil the places for the adhesive tape, and remove the curtain.
  6. Applying adhesive tape to the back surface of the brackets, mounting on a window.
  7. Installing the guide string against sagging. It is attached to the “ear” of the top bracket and the weighting of the curtain, and at the bottom it is fixed in the tensioner, which is installed on the frame.

The second method involves attaching to a stationary frame (not opening):

  • First of all you need to mount the roller blind, assemble the brackets and install them on the reel. Then this structure must be fixed on the window in order to mark for fastening.
  • Second step– fastening the brackets with adhesive tape in the upper part of the frame and the string tensioner in the lower part. It is not necessary to pre-attach them with tape, but it is advisable to eliminate problems with subsequent drilling of holes for the screws. After installing the guide string, the curtain itself is mounted into the mechanisms.

How to secure cassette tapes?

You can also install cassette blinds yourself. Before installation, you must read the instructions, make sure that everything is complete, and prepare all the necessary tools: a screwdriver, drawing tools, a screwdriver, a drill, cotton pads or a small piece of cloth, and a degreaser.

When everything you need has been collected, you can proceed to the first stage - degreasing the glazing beads. Then you need to remove the side covers of the box, lift it to the top of the frame, focusing on the guide protrusions, drill holes for fastenings, and secure with screws. You can use a screwdriver for this purpose, or you can perform the process manually using a Phillips screwdriver.

Once the box is installed, you need to secure the covers to the sides. After this, you can glue the guide strips to the degreased frame. The guides should be several centimeters below the corner of the bead.

Important nuances

Installation work window design requires certain skills and experience, but if you want to try it yourself, you need to take into account some of the nuances and features of this work.

Installation of blinds begins long before preparation work surface and a set of tools.

The first step of this process– an informed decision regarding the type and variety of blinds, material, color and texture, depending on the functionality of the room. Thus, it is more advisable to choose vertical blinds for the living room that let in light, for the bedroom automatic roller blinds with electric drive made of blackout fabric, and for the kitchen, where the smells of cooking and combustion products of food are constantly in the air. plastic blinds that do not absorb grease and dirt.

Second important point - this is the correct marking. A lot depends on it, including how easy the installation process will be. If all the architectural features of window openings are taken into account by specialists when ordering blinds from them, everything will go easily and smoothly without the help of professional installers.

It is also important to consider whether it will be possible to open the window after installation, how the light protection devices will work, and whether there is a risk of their deformation.

The installation of blinds must be carried out exactly with the markings and subsequent verification of the functionality of the structure. The most important point here is the choice between fastening - with or without drilling.

It is also necessary to provide for the type of control. For low windows, an excellent solution is one of the types of mechanical direction. Magnetic, automatic (electric) control with an electric drive is suitable for roof and inclined windows, windows in the bedroom.

After installation metal-plastic windows I don’t want to spoil them by drilling holes for the headset. And it's not just about maintaining the integrity of the structure. Blinds for plastic windows without drilling It makes sense to install it because if you want to change the design, you will need new fastenings, and the window will be damaged.

In addition to the aesthetic reasons, there are other, more practical ones:

  1. Tightness is maintained. IN winter time no need to seal the holes with putty.
  2. In the event of a defect, the manufacturer replaces the window, but if it is broken, this will not be possible.
  3. In the absence professional tools install blinds on windows you can do without them. There is a large selection of devices on the market - both heavy and light models.
  4. Living in a rented apartment does not allow you to arrange your home at your own discretion.

Vertical or placed in order to protect the room from prying eyes, excessively bright sunlight, and reduce heating in the summer.

Using conventional fasteners you can hang:

  • rolls of any models;
  • horizontal - plastic or aluminum;
  • accordion curtains - pleated.

It is quite possible to select fasteners that can withstand the weight of the structure. You just need to consider all the available options.

Types of fastenings without drilling

It should be noted that fastenings without drilling less reliable than those secured with self-tapping screws. If you can’t make holes in the frame, then you’ll have to adapt and look for reliable options from the available ones.

Weight plays a role blinds. When the purpose of the installation is to reduce the amount of light, and not just decorative, then it is better to choose a lighter model. People living in an apartment temporarily don’t care what color the product is on the windows, as long as it doesn’t shine in their eyes in the morning.

Mount for blinds, which does not need to be drilled, can be picked up in any construction supermarket, because these types are most on sale. They are invisible and easy to install, but each type has nuances that you need to know.

Double sided tape

You can use tape attach the blinds lightweight design. To make them last longer, before gluing you need:

  • degrease surfaces with alcohol;
  • make sure that the frame is warm (in winter it is better to use a hair dryer during installation).

Important! The disadvantage of adhesive tape is that it will not support bulky products.

Light models with plastic slats have been in use for three years. If everything is done correctly, the curtains will be replaced due to old age, and not because they fell and became wrinkled.

You will have to carefully clean the plates, do not pull them by the bottom. To clean, use a weak vacuum cleaner mode or special brushes with long soft bristles to remove dust onto the windowsill, and from there with a rag.

When installed with double-sided tape, the lower part of the blinds touches objects on the windowsill - for example, flowers. If there is an animal in the apartment, it can catch the hanging part and the blinds will fall. Cats love to sit on the windowsill, so the bottom of the product will also have to be strengthened.

Are there any marks left after removing the tape? They remain, but can be removed with a cloth dampened vegetable oil. If that doesn’t help, then there is a special solution designed to clean parts from rust, called WD-40. You can buy it at a car store - craftsmen use it when disassembling car components. It will cope with marks on plastic.

Magnets on double-sided tape

Neodymium magnets are used. They are 10 times more powerful than ordinary ones, therefore they can withstand any model of curtains. They are used for the upper and lower cornices.

If you install the fasteners only on the tilting part of the window, then the lower part sags when opening, which is not very convenient when there are some objects on the window sill.

The best option is to place the upper part on the cornices, and the lower part on magnets and tape. In this case, the lower part will last longer, as it will not sag and interfere with cleaning.

Brackets

The brackets will be selected from metal or plastic, depending on the severity of the blinds. This part is an L-shaped hook. The part is put on the upper part of the window in open position. Holders are inserted into special grooves and blinds are hung on them. Attaching horizontal blinds to plastic windows with the help of plastic brackets it is possible with a small weight of the product. For larger models, metal parts are needed.

Advice! The price of metal brackets is higher, but they are more reliable.

If the fastening becomes loose over time, it can be tightened. Metal fastenings visible on a white plastic window because they differ in color. But they are used constantly, changing only the blinds. For regular use, it is recommended to sacrifice design for durability.

Blinds can fall off, fall and lose their attractive appearance. They absolutely cannot be washed. You will have to change it, and this is an extra cost.

Often used universal bracket for PVC windows without drilling. The advantage of this part is that it can be screwed to walls or ceilings without damaging the window plastic.

It is easier to repair the wall by covering it with plaster and painting it if necessary. The part has 4 holes, two of which are used for the wall, two for the ceiling. If you don’t want to risk curtains and you can’t drill a window, then there is only one way out - a universal bracket.
