To the bottom of the legs of all, without exception, fixed steps and portable benches, rubber gaskets must be attached in some way.
Instead of self-tapping screws, wooden dowels and pins or dowels are used as reliable fasteners for boardwalk, which are driven into the holes drilled for them. If nothing could be found except for self-tapping screws, then it is advisable to screw them in from the back so that the metal fragments do not burn the skin of those steaming in the bath (metal is much stronger and heats up faster than wood).
