How to attach blinds to the mount. How to hang blinds on plastic windows

Does not require any special skills. Moreover, for this, in general, simple work, sometimes you have to pay quite a lot of money to professional installers.

Therefore, it would be most advisable to mount the blinds to the ceiling with your own hands. To do this, you can make do with improvised tools that are available in the arsenal of any home craftsman.

Aesthetics and practicality

More recently, blinds were perceived as nothing more than some kind of foreign exotica. But quickly enough our fellow citizens, accustomed to traditional curtains and drapes, were able to appreciate the practicality of use and the aesthetic beauty of these structures.

From then on, the “triumphant march” of these light-protective devices, invented back in the 18th century in the USA, began through apartments and offices in our country. Today they are no longer perceived by us as something unusual - more and more owners of residential and office premises prefer these easy-to-use lattice structures.

The only negative that can be pointed out is the higher price of blinds compared to classic fabric curtains. However, the overall cost of the structure can be reduced if you install it on the windows yourself.

Design features of blinds

Vertical blinds

Today there are several types of blinds on our market, differing from each other in the features of their design. Depending on their type, the methods of attaching blinds also differ:

  1. Horizontal blinds. The slats (or so-called “slats”) in this design are located one above the other. The access of light into the room here is regulated by rotating the lamellas around their axis, as a result of which they either press tightly against each other or form a gap. As a rule, such structures must be installed directly on window frames.
  2. Vertical blinds. They differ from the first option in the arrangement of lamellas hanging from top to bottom. In this case, adjusting the access of light can be done either by turning the slats or by moving them to the side, as with conventional fabric curtains. In this case, the fasteners for the blinds are located directly above the window - on the wall above window opening or on the ceiling.
  3. "Roman blind". It is one of the types of horizontal devices. Only the access of light here is regulated not by turning the slats, but by lifting the entire structure: the curtain goes up, rolling up into a roll. Fasteners for blinds of this type are also located either on the wall, above the window, or on the ceiling.

The materials from which devices can be made are very different - aluminum, wood, fabric. But this in no way affects the installation features of the blind mounts. As a result, we have two main types of fastening:

  • directly onto the window frame (for horizontal type devices);
  • on the wall or ceiling (mounts for vertical blinds).

If some damage is caused to the blinds during the work, it will no longer be possible to exchange them for others. Damage caused by self-installation is not covered by the warranty.

Installing blinds on a wall or ceiling

Blinds mounting diagram

The main device with which vertical blinds are attached is the cornice. Rotating and sliding mechanisms are installed in it, and slats hanging down are attached to it.

Preparatory work

To attach the cornice of a vertical device to a wall or ceiling, you will need the following tools:

  • impact drill or hammer drill;
  • screwdriver;
  • roulette;
  • building level;
  • pencil.

Before you begin installing the cornice, you should take all the necessary measurements. The height of the cornice must be installed in such a way that the slats hang at least 5 - 10 cm below the window or window sill.

At the required height on the wall, mark a point and, using a pencil level, draw a strip along which the cornice will be attached. On this line, mark a point that exactly coincides with the middle of the window.

Installation of cornice

Next, we will need to determine the points for installing fasteners - dowels and nails. To do this, we apply the cornice from the blinds kit to the line so that its center corresponds to the mark of the center of the window.

If the part already has holes for fastening elements, then we place points in these places on the wall or ceiling, depending on where you intend to attach the cornice. If ready-made technical holes are not provided, then you will have to make them yourself using a drill, stepping back a few centimeters from the edge of the cornice.

Then, using a hammer drill or impact drill We drill the wall (ceiling) and hammer a plastic dowel into the hole.

We put the cornice back in place so that the mounting holes in the cornice coincide with the dowels installed in the wall or ceiling, and use self-tapping screws to secure it in the desired position.

In the case of a significant width of the cornice or the overall massiveness of the structure, it is recommended to additionally secure the cornice in the center in one or two places.

Installing blinds on window frames

This installation method is used mainly for horizontal devices. Unlike attaching a cornice to a wall or ceiling, this method is difficult for many home craftsmen.

Many people do not quite understand how to attach the structure to the frame of plastic windows. Meanwhile, the same self-tapping screws or self-tapping screws are used for this.

In this case, when drilling an aluminum or polyvinyl chloride frame with a self-tapping screw, the tightness of the window does not suffer at all.

To do this, as in the first case, we make markings in such a way that the blinds evenly protrude beyond the edges of the glazing on both the right and left. In this case, we take into account that all preliminary measurements were made before purchasing the blinds, and they exactly match the size of your window. We install the blind holders directly on the window frame, using metal screws (for aluminum frames) or ordinary screws (for PVC frames) for fastening. For more information about installing blinds, watch this video:

We snap or screw the supporting cornice onto the holders - depending on design features devices. We sequentially install rotary mechanisms with control cords on the cornice. It is also possible to install blinds of this type in the inter-frame space if you have double wooden frames at home.

The light protection device is mounted on the inner frame on the side facing the outer frame. To control the blinds in this case, a hole is drilled in the upper part of the frame through which the cords of the rotating system are threaded. To learn how to install blinds without screws, watch this video:

As you can see, installing any type of blinds on windows can be easily done with your own hands. This will allow you to significantly save on calling a team of professional installers. To carry out the work, it is enough to have only a standard set of household items. construction tools and necessary mounting hardware.

Residential buildings and restaurants. The products are designed to preserve the intimacy of the atmosphere, protect against sun rays. In order for them to look harmonious in window opening, they must be installed correctly. You can watch how various blinds are attached to plastic windows in the corresponding video or read the instructions. Depending on the shape of the product, the types of fasteners will differ. Next, we will talk about the main installation methods.

Blind installation options

The installation method is influenced by various factors, but the main role is played by the presence of a flat surface. If the walls are curved, they must be leveled to avoid complications during installation. The following options exist:

  • Ceiling mount;
  • Installation on walls;
  • Placement inside a window opening;
  • Installation of blinds to each double-glazed window.

When choosing a method, you should focus on the design. The sequence of the work itself will differ little.

There are several options for attaching blinds to a window opening, both with and without drilling

Installation stages

The versatility of blinds implies a similar procedure for in various ways fastenings The differences will only be in the details.

  1. First of all, it is necessary to measure the window opening. If the owner decides to secure the products in a third way (in the window opening), then a couple of cm will need to be subtracted from the received data. This will avoid the awkward situation when the blinds drag along the window sill. If the user decides to install it with an overlap, then, on the contrary, an extra cm will be required. To reliably close the window, 4-5 cm on the wide side will be enough. The length can even be up to the floor. Here you need to focus on own feeling taste. If the owner chooses the 4th installation method, then measurements of each sash will be required. In case of detected curvature, it is recommended to adjust the measurements as for the correct figure.
  2. Marking. This refers to the marking of fasteners, which must be located symmetrically and accurately. Geometry is important, since the reliability of the blind design itself will depend on it. Already during marking, it is necessary to check the possibility of opening and closing the window. The product should not interfere with the owner’s ability to ventilate the room. It is also important to determine the location for the cord, since this is where the point of greatest pressure will be. In particular, it is recommended to provide additional fastening.
  3. Installation. Self-tapping screws are installed directly into walls or ceilings. After they are screwed, a curtain rod is hung on them to secure the blinds. Then you can test the product itself.

Nuances of installation depending on the type of plastic products

In order not to damage plastic windows when installing blinds, it is necessary to carry out the work extremely carefully. Let's consider the intricacies of installation for different types products:

  • Vertical blinds. This type is in greatest demand because it allows the designer to experiment with color and shape. The range of blinds is extremely wide. For installation, not much is required: a cornice, blind slats, a chain with runners. The latter must be of sufficient length so as not to limit the operation of the device itself. This is especially true if the window has a non-standard shape.

The products can be mounted on a ceiling or wall mount. In the first case, you should focus on the width of the lamella in order to determine the area where the cornice will be placed, that is, the distance from the wall. Mounting to the wall implies the possibility of placing the cornice both under the ceiling and above the window itself. After installing the brackets, runners for hanging slats are installed on the mounted cornice.

Various options for installing blinds on a window

Since vertical products do not function without weights, they will need to be hung on both sides of the blind somewhere below.

  • Horizontal blinds. Often these products are installed in the second or fourth way. Installation on the wall is required when the owner wants to completely close the window opening. And installation on each sash allows you to maintain functionality plastic double glazing. Installation work imply going through the same stages as in the case of vertical products.

Installation of blinds with and without drilling

There are two main options for attaching the cornice. The first method involves the use of self-tapping screws, and the second - L-shaped fasteners.

Self-tapping screws allow the owner to install horizontal products directly onto the window profile.

Attention! The latter will not experience significant damage, since the holes can always be sealed with white sealant.

Before drilling, markings are made. To do this, install the blinds in the cornice and open them completely, after which they bring them to the window. Visual assessment should make it clear how accurately all measurements were taken, since next it will be necessary to transfer the markings of the brackets to the profile. There should be no distortions.

Properly attached blinds will decorate the room and serve the owner for a long time

After the drilling operation, the following actions are performed:

  1. The cornice is screwed using brackets;
  2. The fastenings are closed;
  3. A hook with a cane and a tip is installed in the control unit;
  4. The bell is secured with a knot;
  5. Then, using a cord, the product is lowered to the end to fix the blinds at the bottom.

L-shaped brackets are attached without drilling, which will need to be purchased separately. The simple snap-on method greatly simplifies the maintenance of windows and blinds. These brackets cling to the top of each sash, unless it is blind. This type of fastening is considered the most suitable for installing the product inside a window opening. The use of the same adhesive tape does not guarantee the same degree of reliability that special brackets can provide. At the same time, they maintain integrity window profile, which is important.

Following these recommendations, the user can install blinds on plastic windows independently. Depending on the shape of the product and the features of the window, you will need to choose the best way fastenings He considers the method without drilling to be the best.

Horizontal blinds are made of wood, plastic or aluminum. They are highly resistant to sunlight. Depending on the type of fastening, horizontal blinds can be interframe, attic or regular. The rich color range of products will allow you to harmoniously decorate any home, apartment or office space.

Aluminum blinds are considered the most convenient of all horizontal ones. These “light-protective devices” have one very important advantage- the ability to be installed in places where curtains or blinds of other types cannot be used for a number of reasons. Aluminum blinds made from aluminum tape with high strength characteristics and coated with a special composition.

Advantages of horizontal blinds

Blinds are compact, reliable and affordable - this is why they have long been firmly established in our everyday life. They are installed not only in offices or the kitchen, but also in the living room, children's room and even in the bath! After all, their moisture resistance is beyond praise! Aluminum products provide sufficient light and sun protection for a comfortable stay indoors, and also reliably protect from prying eyes.

And also blinds:

  • do not absorb dirt and dust;
  • are not deformed;
  • easy to care for;
  • do not accumulate static electricity.

Interesting! "Standard" aluminum horizontal blinds is a basic combination of functionality, reliability and elegance. This optimal choice for kitchen, office.

Wood effect horizontal blinds allow you to successfully combine availability and reliability aluminum construction with a “natural” interior dominated by wood tones.

Perforated blinds , having the effect of “dense tulle” are suitable for connoisseurs of soft diffused light. They are good for the living room, nursery, bedroom.

But in order for the products to truly serve your home faithfully, it is very important to know how to install horizontal blinds correctly.

Instructions for installing horizontal blinds

Horizontal blinds can be mounted to the ceiling, to the wall, or into the opening.

Measuring horizontal blinds

  1. Determine the overall dimensions (height and width) of the product based on the design features of the window opening. If horizontal blinds will be installed directly into the opening, it is advisable to subtract one or two centimeters from the estimated width of the product (adjustment for uneven slopes).
  2. Determine the optimal location of the controls - on the right or left.
  3. Determine what type of fastening will be used - standard twist brackets, fastening to tilt-and-turn sashes with or without drilling.
  4. Determine the length of the control handle: standard - 2/3 of the height of the product.

Pay attention! The minimum possible width of the products is 22 centimeters. As for its maximum, it is 220 centimeters with a guarantee of trouble-free operation. You can be tempted by 300 - but then no one will give you a guarantee.

Maximum height: 250 centimeters - if with a guarantee, 300 - if without.

Installation of horizontal blinds - step by step

Installation on twist brackets

  1. Based on overall dimensions light protection device, mark the installation locations of the brackets. The distance between them should be at least sixty centimeters. The brackets must not interfere with the control mechanism, rope clamp, or caliper.
  2. Attach the brackets to the window sash, ceiling or wall.
  3. Turn the bracket latches until they stop (counterclockwise).
  4. Insert the upper cornice of the product into the brackets, turn the latches clockwise until they stop.

Experts note that when self-installation horizontal blinds video instructions from professionals are often not superfluous.

Installation on inclined windows with drilling

  1. Install the twist brackets on top part doors; Install corners (lower plastic brackets) on its lower part.
  2. Secure the cables in special bushings; Install the bushings through the springs into the holes along the edges of the upper cornice.
  3. Pass the cable through the holes along the edges of the slats.
  4. Insert the second pair of bushings into the holes in the lower brackets, thread the cable through them and secure it with a screw.
  5. Attach the handle hook to the control mechanism.
  6. Install the handle holder on the plate onto the sash.
  7. Make sure the entire structure is working properly.

Installation on inclined windows without drilling - on hinged brackets

  1. Mark the installation locations for the brackets.
  2. Secure the twist brackets using the screws supplied on the flip top brackets.
  3. Install the “structures” on the top of the sash and secure them with a special key.
  4. Install the drop-down bottom brackets onto the bottom of the sash.
  5. Secure the cables in the bushings; Install the latter through springs into the holes along the edges of the upper cornice.
  6. Secure the cornice to the twist brackets.
  7. Thread the cable.
  8. Integrate the plastic bushings into the holes in the bottom brackets.
  9. Secure the cable in the bushings with screws.
  10. Attach the handle hook to the control mechanism.
  11. Install the pen holder.
  12. Check the functionality of all structural elements.

The mounting scheme for horizontal blinds, if you look carefully, is quite simple.

Installation of horizontal blinds: video instructions for installation on a plastic window

Detailed instructions for installing horizontal blinds are presented in this video.

Horizontal aluminum light-shielding devices, of course, do not require any extra care. However, this does not mean that they can be “left to their own devices.”

They need to be cleaned of dust about once a week. For this purpose, you can use a vacuum cleaner with a soft fluffy attachment. Manipulating with an ordinary dry soft cloth is also not prohibited.

If, for a number of reasons, blinds require a thorough “big wash” (often these are structures on balcony or kitchen windows), then you should do this:

  • dismantle the structure;
  • wash the slats warm water using detergent (soap, shampoo, a little washing powder). Boiling water is “contraindicated”!;
  • rinse them thoroughly with water and wipe dry;
  • return the blinds to their place for final drying;
  • remove dried water stains with a rag. And voila - your blinds are shining again!

Please note - under no circumstances should water get onto the upper cornice with mechanisms. And one more point: if your blinds white try to avoid detergents, which includes ammonia- this can cause yellow spots to appear on individual lamellas.

Installing blinds is more practical way to close or decorate windows than to buy bulky multi-level curtains. The advantage of this option is that it is much easier to clean the blinds from dust or household dirt - they weigh less than a cornice with curtains, and are much cheaper. The editors of the publication suggest that you familiarize yourself with all the nuances of installing blinds before purchasing.

Instructions for installing blinds

The practicality and ease of use of blinds is evident even at the stage of choosing a mounting option.

There are several ways to close a window using blinds:

  • Installing blinds directly in the window opening (only if the window of the room is recessed into the wall)
Installation of blinds in beige color in the interior from Metro Cabinet Company Alternative to conventional blinds from Shelly’s Interior Concepts

In this case, choose blinds that are smaller in width than the window opening (on average 3-4 cm from the total width of the opening). The difference is needed to place fasteners on both sides of the window. The height of the structure is chosen arbitrarily. To ensure that nothing interferes with the free opening of the window, measure the blinds system in the raised state and step back the same amount from the top of the opening up to the ceiling.

  • Installing blinds above the window opening (if the window is slightly recessed into the wall)

By choosing this installation option, you can block not only the window, but also part of the wall near the window opening, darkening the room even more. The width is chosen arbitrarily, however, the minimum margin of width for overlap should be at least 10 cm (5 cm for each side of the window).

It is important to choose the right height of the structure: it should be equal to the height of the window opening +10 cm. When installing the blinds, take into account the possibility of swinging the window open when the structure is fully raised.

  • Installation of blinds in window sashes

This option will require two systems instead of one. They are installed on window sashes so that each element can be used separately. With this installation option, you can simultaneously leave one section of the window for ventilation without lifting them from the second section or partially illuminate the room.

IMPORTANT! With this installation option, the system should not overlap the window handle.

  • Installing blinds above a window opening if the window is mounted flush with the walls of the house

Since in this option installation, the window handle protrudes deep into the room, the structure must be mounted on special brackets that provide the required distance from the wall. The width in this case should be no less than the width of the window.

IMPORTANT! Since there is a gap between the wall and the blinds, more light enters the room. To darken the room more, the windows are +10 cm wide on each side. The height of the blinds should be 10 cm higher than the height of the window.

According to the materials used:

  • fabric: the most common slats are made of polyester - a durable material that does not fade in the sun and is easy to clean.
  • cotton: eco-style is becoming more and more popular every year. True, such models can cost more. Typically, cotton blinds get dirty quickly and do not tolerate moisture well.
  • wooden: they are made from light but durable wood, so they need frequent cleaning (they are often vacuumed once a week).
  • bamboo: most often found only in a horizontal version. Thanks to its pliability source material can be painted in colors from light wood to rich red, while maintaining their natural properties.
  • made of fiberglass: ideal for the kitchen, since fiberglass has increased fire safety characteristics.
  • plastic: they are rarely used in apartments due to appearance. More common cases of using such structures on office windows in premises.
  • aluminum: they are most often covered with multi-colored enamel.

Installation horizontal system must be done in accordance with the following sequence:

  • assembly of parts and mechanisms:The brackets are assembled, the bracket is attached to the bracket using a screw and nut;
  • cornice assembly: inserted required quantity sliders (equal to the number of slats) and a mechanism for controlling the position of the blinds (if the position can be controlled from both sides, then there will be two control mechanisms);
  • securing the brackets to the wall: the markings for the dowels or screws securing the brackets must be level. Quantitybrackets is determined by the length of the cornice and the material of which the wall is composed. If the wall is concrete, then 1 bracket is needed per 1 meter of cornice; if from lessdurable material, it is necessary to reduce the distance between the brackets; from plasterboard - brackets are placed every 60-80 cm;
  • fixing the cornice on brackets: the front groove of the front side of the cornice is installed in the front protrusion of the latch (bracket) of the wall cornice, and its back side is fixed to the back side staples.
  • Attaching the lamellas to the runners of the cornice: comes down to alternately snapping the “ear” of the lamella holder into the lock of the runner. At the same stage, the bottom of the blinds is connected by two chains (weights are fastened on both sides with lower chains);
  • The operation of the control mechanism is checked: system adjustment.

How to install plastic blinds: step-by-step instructions

Installing blinds yourself will not take much time. The main thing is to hang the structure evenly and think about the location of the adjusting cord (to the left or right side from the window). It will take no more than an hour to complete all the installation work yourself.

IMPORTANT! Before attaching the structure, check the horizontalness of the wall marks using a level.

Installation of blinds. Step 1 - Mark the location for installing the blinds

Having completed the markings, we place the mount on the wall. It is necessary to install the blinds mount on the wall. Attach the cornice to the fastening, lower the blinds to their full length (you can use an adjusting cord), level them and mark the fastening points on the structure. Installation of blinds. Step 3 - Attach the bracket to the wall Installation of blinds. Step 4 - View of the mounted fasteners

Insert the cornice into the prepared fasteners and close them. We place the hook in the control mechanism, and the cane in the installed hook.

Installation of blinds. Step 5 - Install the blinds

The tip is on the installed cane. We thread the adjusting cord through a plastic bell, securing it to a knot. If the selected model is equipped with lower fastening elements, you need to install them. Lower the blinds to the required length and attach the lower fastening element.

Installation of blinds. Step 7 - Mounted blinds

An installation diagram for blinds should be included with each product, so there should be no problems with installation.

If you still don’t have enough inspiration to install the structure, you can always turn to a specialist for help:

  • Kyiv - from 35 to 140 UAH.
  • Moscow - from 200 to 500 rubles.

Installation of protective roller shutters: 10% of the cost of the product (cost of roller shutters = $120).

(regardless of the type of their design), in most cases, is not a very complex operation. Typically included of this subject interior, in addition to the details of the blinds themselves, there is a detailed step by step instructions on installation. But installation difficulties may arise for the following reasons:

  • When attaching blinds to walls using screws, you will have to make holes in the wall. This is not a big drawback, but if it is necessary to dismantle the blinds, these holes will have to be sealed (either with mortar or new wallpaper).
  • The condition of the wall has a direct impact on the complexity of the installation process. It is extremely difficult to drill the necessary holes for fastening elements in a solid wall. Excessively worn walls make a poor base for attaching blinds (for example, old shell rock walls). In this case, it would be preferable to attach the blinds to window frame.
  • Any violation of the integrity of the window frame structure when drilling holes for fastening blinds (no matter how well the work is done) leads to a decrease in strength, thermal insulation and airtight characteristics. Therefore, when installing the fastening mechanism on a window profile, it is preferable to use special brackets.

As you can see, the screw type of fastening blinds to plastic windows has certain disadvantages. But along with them, it has one undeniable advantage: currently, fastening blinds with screws is still one of the most reliable types of fastening. One important detail should be noted: the longer the screw, the stronger the fastening will be. Combined with the sufficient strength and density of the wall structure, the blinds installed on it will function for a very long period of time without sagging.

Design options

Currently, according to the characteristics of their design, blinds are divided into the following types:

  • Horizontal window blinds. The main feature that determines the name of this type is the horizontal lamellas (strips), assembled into a single web using a system of fishing lines.
  • Vertical window blinds. A special feature of this type is the long and wide vertical slats. The size of these blinds exceeds the similar size of structures of the first type.
  • Roller blinds. A solid canvas made of special fabric or bamboo fibers serves as a light filter.
  • Cassette blinds. A “cassette” is a special box into which the blinds are retracted when rolled up.

Horizontal window blinds

Rice. 2. Horizontal window blinds.

Horizontal window blinds, however, like plastic windows, are produced in various sizes. Therefore, to simplify the installation process of this structure as much as possible, careful measurements of the window dimensions (width and height) should be taken. It should be noted that in order to maintain convenience during window operation, it is advisable to install small blinds on each double-glazed window, rather than using one mechanism that covers the window completely. In the case of using large horizontal blinds that completely cover the window opening, it becomes impossible to open the sash with the slats lowered. Horizontal blinds are attached to the window frame using brackets or, in extreme cases, screws.

Vertical window blinds

Rice. 3. Vertical window blinds.

Vertical window blinds, due to large size the entire structure, it is impossible to attach to the window profile. Their base (resembling a cornice of classic curtains) is mounted on a section of the wall that is located above the window opening. In this case, it is necessary to use strong screws optimal size(too short ones won’t work in this case). One of the disadvantages of vertical window blinds is the difficulty of opening the sashes, which can touch and cause mechanical damage to the slat system. Among the advantages are ease of maintenance and operation, pleasant external design, a wide range of materials for lamellas and a bright color palette.

Roller window blinds

Rice. 4. Roller window blinds with wall mounting.

Roller blinds for plastic windows are currently one of the most simple types these interior elements. Small dimensions, light weight and simplified design allow the use of roller blinds on windows of almost any size.

The design of roller blinds (they are also called “roller blinds”) consists of the following elements:

  • Canvas made of fabric or bamboo fiber. Fabric goes through processing during production special liquid for impregnation, which increases its dust-repellent properties. This impregnation also prevents the fabric from creasing.
  • Control mechanism. This could be a chain or a spring mechanism.
  • The shaft on which the fabric is wound.
  • The box in which the shaft is placed. In the open type of roller blinds there is no box.

Cassette window blinds

Rice. 5. Horizontal cassette blinds with sash mounting.

A special feature of cassette blinds for plastic windows is a special cassette (or box) into which the blinds' slats are assembled when closed. The materials used for their manufacture are in most cases plastic and aluminum. Less commonly – wood and bamboo. Cassette blinds can be combined with almost any interior design style (you just need to choose a design made from suitable material). This type is one of the most suitable for combination with plastic windows (they can be mounted directly on the window profile of each sash). The position of the slats is adjusted using a special chain.

Methods of attaching blinds to windows

Window blinds, depending on their type, can be mounted in three different ways:

  • Installation of blinds using drilling.
  • Installation of blinds without drilling.
  • Installation of window blind mounts on the wall.

Each method of attaching blinds to plastic windows has both undeniable advantages and some disadvantages, which we will look at in more detail in the following paragraphs of this article. It should be noted that the disadvantages of each of these fastening methods can be reduced to almost a minimum with proper installation(which it is advisable to entrust to specialists).

Installation of blinds using drilling

Rice. 6. Installation of blinds using drilling.

As a rule, drilling is used to fasten relatively heavy blinds, the installation of which is not possible in two other ways. This applies, first of all, to vertical blinds.

Installation using this method occurs according to the following scheme:

  • The distance between the fastening elements of the blinds is carefully measured.
  • Points are marked on the walls or window frame to indicate the location of future holes.
  • Drilling is done using a drill.
  • Blinds are attached to the wall or window frame using screws and dowels.

This is good reliable way fastenings, with high-quality work, the blinds will function normally for a very long time.

Installation of blinds without drilling

Rice. 7. Installation of roller blinds without drilling.

As a rule, this method installation applies primarily to roller blinds. Thanks to the compact size and extremely low weight of the entire structure, there is no need to use screws or drill into walls and window frames. The main fastening element in this case is double-sided adhesive tape, which is located on the back surface of the box (if closed type roller blinds), or on the bar behind the shaft (for open type). To install, you need to remove the protective film from the double-sided adhesive tape, then firmly press the structure to the window profile.

Installation of window blind mounts on the wall

Rice. 8. Installation of window blind mounts on the wall.

To install window blind mounts on the wall, you will need the following tools and components:

  • Drill
  • Drill of the required diameter
  • Dowels
  • Screws
  • Screwdriver (manual or electric)
  • Hammer (wooden)

The first operation that precedes the installation of window blind fastenings on the wall is measuring the length of the blinds and the distance between the fastening elements. Then, using a drill, holes of sufficient depth are drilled, into which the pieces are carefully hammered using wooden hammer. Then the fasteners are screwed in with screws.

Features of fastening blinds

Rice. 9. Blinds with fastening to the sash.

Features of fastening blinds for plastic windows depend, first of all, on the type of their design. As mentioned earlier, vertical window blinds cannot be attached to a profile. Cassette and roller blinds do not need to be attached to the wall (especially since this may be unprofitable from the point of view of their design features). Horizontal blinds can be attached to the wall (samples large sizes), and to the window profile (for each sash). The last option allows you to use swivel mechanism plastic windows without raising the blinds, so it is more rational to choose it.

Roller window blinds

Rice. 10. Roller blinds with fastening to the sash.

Rice. 11. Roller blinds with wall mounting.

Attaching roller window blinds is the simplest procedure among all other types of blinds. The small dimensions and light weight of the structure make it possible to do without drilling and screws. Roller blinds in most cases are mounted on the window frame, but there are also cases of mounting on the wall. In this case, you should pay attention to its condition. If the wall is plastered, you need to check how firmly it holds. To do this, simply knock on the wall. If the sound is dull, this indicates that the layer of plaster is coming away from the wall. Therefore, before installing roller blinds on the wall, all defects should be eliminated.

Horizontal window blinds

Rice. 12. Horizontal blinds with sash mounting.

Rice. 13. Horizontal blinds with wall mounting.

Horizontal window blinds, as mentioned in previous paragraphs, can be attached both to the window profile and to the wall. When installing on a frame using self-tapping screws, one thing should be taken into account: important feature. Drilling is unacceptable in cases where it is necessary to preserve the heat-insulating and sealing characteristics of the profile (this applies to warm aluminum profiles and energy-saving double-glazed windows with an increased coefficient of heat transfer resistance). In this case, it is preferable to opt for attaching horizontal blinds to the window frame using double-sided adhesive tape (the thickness of the adhesive layer should be 1 mm).

Vertical window blinds

Rice. 14. Vertical window blinds with wall mounting.

Rice. 15. Vertical blinds with ceiling mounting.

Vertical window blinds can be mounted both on the wall and on the ceiling. The second option requires a more responsible approach. Light vertical blinds, the cornices and slats of which are made of plastic or fabric, are more suitable for it. First of all, it is necessary to ensure good adhesion between the dowels and the walls of the holes in the ceiling. To do this, a special adhesive solution can be applied to the dowel, which, after drying, will provide a fairly reliable adhesion. When attaching vertical blinds to walls, they must be inspected for structural damage and, if necessary, removed.

Cassette window blinds

Rice. 16. Cassette blinds.

Before installing cassette window blinds on the profile, it is necessary to mark the place where the cassette is attached (the box into which the blinds are assembled when closed). Next, you need to attach the blinds (on the back of the cassette there is double-sided adhesive tape, from which you must first remove protective film). Then, if necessary, you can finally secure the cassette to the window profile using self-tapping screws (not acceptable if the plastic window profiles are heat-saving - drilling can reduce this characteristic).

Dismantling blinds

For the most part, the process of dismantling blinds for plastic windows does not have relatively strong distinctive features. The differences mainly concern the dismantling of those structures that were attached in different ways(for example, with and without drilling, using double-sided adhesive tape). Otherwise, the process of dismantling blinds for plastic windows is approximately the same and does not require too much effort. We will look at the process of dismantling each individual type of blinds and some of the features of this procedure in more detail in the following paragraphs of this article.

Roller window blinds

Rice. 17. Dismantling roller blinds.

Before dismantling the roller blinds, the following operations must be performed:

  • Roll up the fabric.
  • Disconnect the line.
  • Remove the side plugs from the bottom rod (which is the weight).
  • Disconnect the roller with the rolled web.
  • Using a screwdriver, if necessary, disconnect the brackets by unscrewing the screws attaching them to the window frame.

It should be noted that these operations must be performed with extreme caution to avoid damaging some fragile structural elements roller blinds(fishing line, roller and bracket fastenings, canvas, window profile).

Horizontal window blinds

Rice. 18. Dismantling horizontal blinds.

One thing you need to pay attention to is important detail: It is much easier to dismantle small blinds that cover one window sash than large blinds that cover the entire window opening. In this case, it will be extremely difficult to dismantle it on your own, so the help of another person is needed.

Removal of horizontal blinds occurs according to the following scheme:

  • Detaching the blind rod from the brackets that hold it.
  • Removing the side plugs
  • Removing the block of slats (care must be taken to ensure that the window handle does not get caught on them and cause mechanical damage).
  • Disconnecting brackets from a window profile or wall using a screwdriver.

Vertical window blinds

Rice. 19. Disconnecting the slats of vertical blinds.

The main feature of dismantling vertical window blinds is to disconnect the slats from the cornice. Due to their large size and mobility, it is not possible to remove the entire block of lamellas at one time. Therefore, each strip will have to be disconnected one by one. In this case, it is necessary to straighten all the lamellas so that they form an even sheet and face the same direction. Before dismantling the slats, you need to remove the side plug on the cornice, then pull out the weights from the bottom of the blinds and disconnect the chain. And only then can you begin to remove the slats. The cornice is dismantled at the very last resort. One last reminder: carefully carry the removed slats through the door - they may get caught on the door handle.

Cassette window blinds

Rice. 20. Structure and installation stages of cassette blinds.

Cassette window blinds are dismantled in almost the same way as their open roller counterparts. First of all, you need to assemble the blinds into a box. Then the guide strips along which the blinds move are disconnected. Then you should disconnect the cassette from the brackets holding it using a screwdriver (unscrewing should be done strictly one by one to avoid possible mechanical damage to the structure and window profile when the load on one bracket sharply increases in the case of unscrewing all the screws on only one side).

For easy installation and dismantling, purchase blinds only from those manufacturers who guarantee the high quality of their products.
