We make cardboard furniture with our own hands. Cardboard furniture: unusual options

This article is for those who cannot fight the creative impulses bursting through it. Yes, what kind of furniture is there to order, here are the hands, there are boxes, there are boxes, go ahead! Express yourself!

Cardboard furniture- a new trend in the recycling movement, that is, in the transformation of the unnecessary into the necessary. Craftsmen from all over the world make ordinary cardboard boxes full-fledged furniture, and today we will see which one.

I am sure that the question has repeatedly occurred to you about how you can use cardboard boxes, especially from appliances such as refrigerators and TVs. They are so new, beautiful, durable. It's a pity to throw it away! A little, very little work - and you get great cardboard furniture.

____________
Cardboard furniture looks exactly like ordinary furniture- for example, in the photo on the right you see a rack of ordinary cardboard boxes inserted one into the other, pasted over at the ends with paper tape and painted with waterproof paint in White color. This rack cost the owners the cost of a liter can of paint, but it looks very dignified. As you can see, if you paint over the cardboard well, then the furniture becomes completely water-repellent and you can put as many flower vases as you like.

Pay attention to the photo above and the photo on the left that this cardboard furniture is easy to disassemble - the boxes are not glued, but connected with plastic clips, such as those used in outdoor cafes, so that the wind does not blow the tablecloths off the tables.

You probably have doubts that cardboard furniture is strong enough. I had them too. But I was convinced that if you take two boxes from under the equipment (one slightly smaller than the other) made of thick corrugated cardboard and insert one box into the other, then the resulting “double” box turns out to be quite a rigid structure.

Cardboard furniture is not designed for heavy loads, but it is quite possible to put books or accessories into it, as in the photo on the right. As you can see in the photo, cardboard does not sag under the weight of books, and cardboard furniture looks like a full-fledged purchased rack.

Of course, cardboard furniture must be made carefully - carefully cut off the “closers” of the boxes, insert one box into another, if necessary, if the smaller box is too small, and there is an empty space between its walls and the walls of the large box, lay this space with other sheets of cardboard . Cut the boxes so that their cut (the ends of the “shelves”) is even. Glue this cut with paper tape (you can putty it first so that it is a flat surface). Sand the area where the tape and cardboard meet. And paint neatly.

However, you can not paint furniture made of cardboard, but paste over the remnants of wallpaper:

Cardboard furniture can be upholstered inside beautiful cloth, as in the photo on the left, and then attach all sorts of accessories to this fabric on pins - photos, notes, reminders, etc. In the photo on the left, however, not furniture made of cardboard, but furniture made from wine boxes, but the essence is the same.

To upholster cardboard furniture with fabric, use ordinary pushpins, pressing the fabric well with them.

Gathering together a lot of cardboard boxes and painting them in different colors, you will get excellent furniture for the nursery. Such cardboard furniture can really help you out for the period between the move and the final repair.

Such an improvised rack will include a lot of children's things, and it will cost you about 500 rubles (a can of white paint and several colors).

But it is especially important in cardboard furniture that the baby himself can participate in its manufacture, and this will be very good.

If you are going to make cardboard furniture not for reasons of economy, but for creative reasons - use different colors, fabrics, wallpaper residues, pieces of self-adhesive film, etc. A motley combination can be very beautiful if you carefully choose the colors!

Cardboard furniture, as I mentioned above, - perfect solution for children. Firstly, it is very cheap, so you can relax about its damage. Secondly, you can make it anything you like, and this stimulates your and your child's imagination.

It's hard to believe, but the table on the left in the photo is also made of cardboard. Cardboard boxes re-inserted one inside the other. They are glued together and glued self-adhesive film under the tree. What acts as a countertop, I didn’t really understand - perhaps a chipboard board, or maybe also several layers of cardboard.

Cardboard furniture has become so popular in the West that there is a company in Australia that makes it in industrial scale. In the photo on the right is a table made of cardboard, completely made from recycled materials, that is, cardboard boxes that no one needs. All cardboard furniture is very durable and can be used as regular furniture.

To make it easier to see that the furniture is made of cardboard, the manufacturer does not paint it.

______________________

Well, in order not to get up twice, I’ll tell you more in this article about furniture from boxes that are used by retail chains for transporting and storing food.

In the West, everyone is just crazy about such furniture, and on sites that tell how to make furniture from cardboard or from boxes, they even write: “If you are lucky enough to find boxes of fruit or wine ...” Why lucky - because retailers , as a rule, they treat their property very reverently and try to squeeze the maximum possible out of the container, the boxes are used until they are completely worn out, so it is not easy to find boxes in good condition.

But sometimes they can be received as a gift when buying wine in large volumes.

And then the Europeans, who have seized upon creativity, are completely delighted with making either the same shelving as cardboard furniture in the photo above, or other interesting things.

It is considered special chic not to paint the boxes, but to leave them in their original form - with all the scratches, stamps of the former owner and stains. The boxes are only sanded to avoid splinters, and their appearance remains the same.

It comes to the point that eminent designers, creating interiors in an ecological style, make custom-made furniture that imitates furniture from boxes, as in the photo above.

It is very fashionable to fasten wheels to the box and get a bed for a doll, as in the photo on the right, a mobile bedside table or a flower box, as in the photo below.

It is clear that such a box on wheels can have many applications - for example, in this way you can do serving table if you put the boxes on their side.

Furniture from drawers can be almost anything - for example, someone made for his living room and coffee table, and a rack of identical boxes, painted with white paint.

For my taste, it is rude, but it is obvious that the owner was trying to achieve this effect. In general, such an uneven, rough coloring, or the complete absence of such, as in the photo above, is now in great fashion.

It's funny, but you can even make furniture from plastic boxes that are used to transport bottles, as in the photo on the right. Attach legs from below, and a pillow from above, and now you have a wonderful funny ottoman. Of course, it will not suit every interior.

You probably noticed in all the photos in this article that furniture made of cardboard and boxes is not universal - it only suits interiors with a high degree of humor, built on the disregard of the owners for everything expensive and glamorous and on their love for everything funny, homemade.

For example, one Spaniard made this bedside table from two plywood boxes, screwing an old shelf to them on top and painting it on his own acrylic paint. Nothing special, but the manufacturing process itself delivers pleasure. Plus, it costs nothing, but it still pleases the eye.

Excellent wall shelves can be made from plywood or wooden boxes. It's very simple - saw the box, sand it and cover it with varnish or paint to your liking. Pastoral, cute, funny.

In order to creatively decorate the premises of the apartment, as well as add individuality to it, you can make cardboard furniture with your own hands, patterns and diagrams are so simple that even a beginner can make products. A variety of options will allow you to choose the right piece of furniture and make it, involving all family members in the process.

Cardboard furniture will be durable and practical if you follow the sequence of work and recommendations for using tools.

To select an option for self-manufacturing furniture product There are a few suggestions to consider:

  1. Toy furniture made of cardboard - it is profitable and creative to make furniture for dolls on your own. If the children require the purchase of a new house for Barbie with all related accessories, the output will be the production of such an option with their own hands;
  2. Shelves for books - are considered one of the most simple products from cardboard. It does not take much time to make them, and books do not put a lot of stress on cardboard;
  3. The original table - it will not dinner table, on which dishes are constantly located, and a small coffee or coffee table. On such a piece of furniture, a child can perform developmental tasks, because it is designed for a small load;
  4. Chest of drawers - it is convenient to fold documents or papers into such furniture, children's accessories will also fit here. It is easier to make a chest of drawers from cardboard boxes from large appliances, such as a refrigerator;
  5. Shoe rack - original stand under shoes in the form of triangular cells it will be appropriate to fit into any hallway. Entering the room, all guests will be surprised how convenient and practical the rack turned out to be;
  6. A small chair for children - since cardboard is not designed for heavy loads, furniture for children is what you need. A small chair for the baby will become his favorite subject, where he can draw or play.

Necessary materials and tools

No matter what type of furniture will be chosen for self-produced, the list of materials will remain unchanged. This necessarily includes the main raw material - cardboard.

To make the products durable, it is worth giving preference to three-layer cardboard. The quality of the material can be checked on the cut.

If a single-layer analogue was bought in advance, do not be upset. From this option, the production is good dollhouse and furniture for dolls. If you use it for work on real furniture, you need to glue several layers of cardboard to give greater strength.

List of materials and tools for work:

  • Scotch tape - it is better to purchase paper, plain and double-sided;
  • Stationery or sharp construction knife;
  • Scissors;
  • Roulette and a long ruler;
  • Pencil and stationery gum;
  • Sandpaper - for cleaning cuts;
  • Kraft paper;
  • Glue - depending on the type of cardboard, you may need PVA, hot glue or Moment.

If all the listed materials and fixtures are prepared, it is worth moving on to the manufacture of the selected furniture. Experienced craftsmen on cardboard, it is recommended that beginners choose simple work to start, for example, shelves or a table.

In order for furniture made by oneself at home to turn out not only beautiful, but durable, a number of rules should be followed. They will help to make high-quality products that will appeal to all household members:

  1. Gluing layers - when working with single-layer cardboard or to strengthen furniture, it is necessary to glue the material. When gluing cardboard together, try to lay the layers perpendicular to each other - this is how they give increased rigidity;
  2. The choice of glue - people who have already made furniture from this material, it is advised to use Moment glue. It does not get wet after application and instantly fastens the details of products. You can also purchase a glue gun and thermal sticks, which melt when heated, creating a glue trail;
  3. Why kraft paper is needed - kraft paper is used to paste over the edges and joints of furniture. With the help of such a move, the furniture looks neater. Before pasting, the joints are cleaned with sandpaper. It must be remembered that paper cannot be cut - it must be torn with your hands. So the layers will become smooth, without transitions;
  4. Features of cutting - during the manufacture of cardboard furniture, special attention is paid to cutting the material. Usually a clerical knife is used - it is important that it is always sharp, because the accuracy of the details depends on it. If thick cardboard cannot be cut, a jigsaw can be used.

Using a jigsaw, the work goes much faster. It is important to carefully cut the details and avoid mistakes, because the tool is too powerful for cardboard.

Step-by-step instruction

So that the production goes quickly and is not accompanied by problems, there is step-by-step instruction, a master class of cardboard furniture consists of step by step description every action. It begins with the creation of a drawing, then comes the formation of parts, their strengthening. Finishing stage furniture assembly is considered. Each of the stages must be considered separately.

Creating a drawing

The first thing to do is to draw a furniture drawing. To begin with, it is drawn on regular sheet A4 size for a smaller version. In such a sketch, it is important to prescribe all dimensions and observe scaling. If you have experience in special programs that allow you to develop product models - it is worth using them.

The first drawing should have an image of the product in a general three-dimensional view. Next, you need to draw a projection of the furniture with a top, side, back view separately. The next step will be the image of the details of the product: each detail must be drawn separately.

When the drawing is ready, it must be transferred to sheets of cardboard:

  • Using a tape measure and a long ruler, draw on the surface of the raw material with a pencil, measuring the required dimensions;
  • For work, you may need a square so that the corners of future furniture are even in the figure;
  • When drawing on thin cardboard, try not to leave scratches with a pencil, and when making furniture from corrugated cardboard, draw clear and deep lines;
  • It is necessary to cut the parts in compliance with all indents and possible margins of distance.

You can use ready-made patterns or come up with your own product that meets specific sizes and preferences.

Shaping parts

It is worth noting that when cutting out parts there should be no visible bends. If the work is done on a box from household appliances, it is better to cut on even edges. From six-layer cardboard, you can make do-it-yourself furniture with increased strength, for example, a bookcase for shoes or books.

Details of the product are formed using a sharp clerical knife. Masters advise using a construction knife if it is supposed to work with multilayer raw materials. As the knife becomes dull, its blade is changed. A dull knife will not be able to cut the necessary part evenly and along the contour - you will have to redo the pattern.

Depending on the type of furniture assembly, parts can be:

  • Plug-in;
  • glued;
  • Stackable.

The latter option involves the gradual build-up of cardboard to achieve optimum thickness. Such a move will further strengthen the model, preventing it from sagging under loads. It is advantageous to use cardboard sleeves in the design - special tubes with high density. They are suitable for the production of legs for furniture, as well as for the assembly of structures in the original style. For example, a chair made of cardboard tubes looks creative and can support the weight of a person.

Plug-in

Building

Strengthening structures

Each detail after cutting with a knife must be processed. This happens in the following way:

  1. Cleanup. The cut edges of the module must be sanded. This technique will give them smoothness and prepare for further processing;
  2. Pasting. For this, kraft paper is used. It must be torn with your hands, after which, using PVA glue, carefully paste over the edges. You can apply paper to the entire surface, which creates additional hardening.

Furniture assembled with grooves will be durable and reliable. In the photo below you can see the principle of manufacturing such furniture: in the process of patterning, oblong holes are additionally outlined, which are subsequently cut out. An additional structure is inserted into the grooves, which fastens the frame on both sides. Thanks to this, the furniture becomes stronger.

Often, stiffeners are used, which additionally fix the base of the furniture. With the help of them, you can independently strengthen the cardboard tabletop, shoe rack, bookcase. Stiffeners and grooves must be coated with glue. Having strengthened the structure, in the future you will not have to worry about the durability of the furniture.

Sand the surface

Wrap the surface with kraft paper

Assembly process

All prepared parts are glued with glue gun or glue Moment. If the assembly is carried out using grooves, they are also glued for strength. It is recommended to repair all irregularities on the surface of thick cardboard with putty - it will not leave marks, and the excess will hide under the finish.

Parts requiring gluing in layers must be placed under the press. Books or other heavy objects work well for this. After gluing, they are left for several hours, and preferably for the whole day, until complete drying. All resulting ribs must be masked with kraft paper. Gently glue the resulting corners to give them roundness. Then it's up to the small - decoration. There are several options:

  • Decoupage - pasting with napkins;
  • Acrylic painting;
  • Wallpapering;
  • Use of self-adhesive film;
  • Decorating with mixtures.

Finished furniture can be used for its intended purpose within a day after production. Everyone can make cardboard furniture with their own hands, how to find patterns and patterns will be discussed below.

Quote message Furniture from cardboard boxes

Rack - bookshelves made of cardboard boxes

Comfortable, lightweight and easy to make DIY bookshelf from waste cardboard boxes.

As a result of furniture origami, you will get such an original cabinet:

The whole construction consists of separate square blocks, connected by the example of a jigsaw puzzle. The material used is ordinary thick cardboard from boxes.

To create one block of a bookcase, you need to arm yourself with scissors, a ruler, a pencil and attention, draw on corrugated cardboard the details of the size you want and cut out the following parts:

First, it is better to practice on a small piece of cardboard or paper in order to determine the size and assembly method before finishing work. Unfortunately, the original source does not give the dimensions of each part or drawings, so you will have to experiment with the aspect ratio of the rack yourself.

Just assemble the finished blocks as a constructor, and you have the opportunity to create any shape with your own hands bookshelves- pyramid, ladder, rectangle, square. If desired, the rack can be decorated, for example, pasted over with wallpaper or colored paper, painted or applied with various patterns and patterns. Do not limit your imagination!

Cardboard rack for magazines and newspapers

The original corrugated cardboard creation was submitted for the CEDIM competition by students from the Mexican University of Design. Made from cardboard sheets table - rack for newspapers and magazines looks unusual, and, at the same time, elegant. The very idea of the table is quite simple and realizable. do it yourself.

The design is built on the principle of turning and twisting a stack of sheets, players often like to make similar figures with a deck of cards. A dozen sheets of corrugated cardboard have a rectangular cutout. Stacked together with other solid sheets, they result in shelves for magazines along the entire "leg" of the table - racks. The main thing when creating such a cardboard miracle with your own hands is to properly balance the center of gravity so that in the end the asymmetric table does not collapse.

LeafBed Cardboard Bed: Spartan Furniture

Architectural structures, household items and furniture in the context of emergency events are back in the spotlight after the earthquake and tsunami in Japan. And many designers in new collections think not only about an interesting concept, aesthetics and appearance, but also consider the model from the side of safety, health and benefit requirements.

The French designers of the company NOCC created leaf bed- a patented bed for temporary camps for refugees and victims, made exclusively from cardboard- material available everywhere in any quantities.

This is a modest sleeping area made up of modular cardboard blocks that can be easily assembled. do it yourself in bed at the site of a natural disaster, in a camp, in nature, or immediately after moving to new apartment while there is no furniture yet. Minimum necessary tools for installation and fastening are included in the package.

Design cardboard furniture can be adapted to specific needs. So, 4 modules form a bed for adults, 3 modules - a bed for children, 2 modules - for a table, 1 module - for a chair.

The blocks are assembled in such a way that in the mode bed the bed flexes slightly in the middle rather than at the edges, conforming to the shape of the human body.

In addition, a compartment in each block allows you to store your things.

Wall decor from cardboard rolls

Cardboard rolls that remain after using paper towels or toilet paper, can be used for original DIY wall decor. From rolls cut into pieces, you can lay out floral ornament, a geometric pattern or even a full-fledged picture on the wall - there would be a sufficient amount of material, space and imagination!

For such an installation in the form of a flower branch, you will need several rolls of cardboard, scissors, glue, paints as desired. Press the cardboard roll lightly against the table with your hands so that it acquires an oval shape with pointed tops. Then cut it into equal pieces. The larger the width of the details, the more voluminous the composition will be. You can also experiment with different width details, thus giving more volume to certain parts of the installation.

Lay out all the details on the surface and estimate the shape of the future decor on the wall. Temporarily, it will be convenient to fasten the leaves together with paper clips or clothespins. Having decided on appearance, start carefully gluing the details into shapes, and then the shapes into the overall composition. To make the glue stick better, secure the newly glued surfaces with clothespins.

Oh yes! If you want a color composition, then you can paint the details at any stage: either paint the cardboard still in rolls, or at the cutting stage, or slightly tint the already glued figures.

Look for decor ideas in any unnecessary things and rubbish, because it can turn out to be a very nice composition!

Making furniture out of cardboard is a fashionable activity today, it has long been widespread in the West, so on the Internet you can find master classes in photos and videos, “patterns” for furniture, as well as blog stories of those who are already realizing their fantasies with might and main, and lots of great examples for inspiration. And in bookstores - books that tell in detail about the process.

Cardboard furniture is made using a certain technology, so that it is strong enough to serve its intended purpose (tables, chairs, chests of drawers, shelves), and not just stand in the corner as proof of your creative usefulness.

The endless possibilities for creating shapes and decorating the surface - painting, painting, decoupage, voluminous decoupage, covering with fabric and God knows what else - allow you to realize the most fantastic ideas, the embodiment of which you will never see in furniture stores. The technology is not particularly expensive, the materials are inexpensive, and almost anyone can try their hand at this kind of applied art.

In addition, I think that after acquiring the necessary skills, experience and own experience, you can try to organize a business for the production of cardboard furniture.

You will need raw material, that is, ordinary packaging cardboard. If you have recently purchased household appliances or furniture and have not yet thrown away the boxes - let's put them into action. If nothing suitable was found at home, take a walk to the nearest store and ask them to give you the packaging.

Necessary tools and materials:

1. Brown and white wrapping paper (for pasting outside and inside)
2. Stationery knife for cutting cardboard (change the blades regularly so that the cut quality is clean) or a scalpel, electric jigsaw
3. Hot glue gun and sticks of glue to it, be careful when using it, because. hot glue (works instantly)
4. PVA glue
5. Liquid glue "Moment" (fast acting), used to apply glue on large surfaces, the cardboard does not get wet and there is no need to use a load
6. Fast acting wood glue (5 min.)
7. Wallpaper glue universal
8. Parquet varnish to make furniture waterproof
9. Protective tape, paper for gluing the "ribs" and a damp sponge
10. Tracing paper or craft paper
11. Metal ruler 50 cm, where zero gradation is equal to the beginning of the ruler, metal ruler 80 cm or 1 m (used for cutting)
12. Centimeter
13. Pencil, eraser, brushes (for glue)
14. Sandpaper for processing (grinding) slices

Types of cardboard

In the manufacture of cardboard furniture, packaging cardboard is used, which can be found in furniture stores, electrical household appliances, and car garages.
Big role plays the thickness of the cardboard, which is measured in layers. A layer of cardboard is the small waves of which it consists. As a rule, the more such layers, the stronger the cardboard. Depending on the type of furniture and / or part of the model, one-, two- and three-layer cardboard is used in the manufacture of furniture.

Single-layer cardboard is most often used to fill the inner walls of models with rounded, curved shapes; to fill the inner walls of models with straight lines, it is preferable to use two- or three-layer cardboard. Also, darker-colored cardboard is usually more durable than light-colored cardboard.

The front side of the cardboard is smoother, on which you can find inscriptions, the wrong side is less smooth.

It is very important to take into account the direction of the "waves" of cardboard, the strength of the furniture depends on it. Usually, when duplicating the walls of a piece of furniture (consists of two glued identical parts), the first one is “cut out” on cardboard, where the layers (waves) are directed vertically, the second, on the contrary, where the layers go horizontally.

In the manufacture of furniture, you will need any cardboard. As a rule, it is measured in layers (these are small waves that can be seen on the cut): the more layers, the stronger the cardboard. You can find one-, two- and three-layer cardboard: single-layer is most often used to fill the inner walls of objects with rounded, curved shapes; two-layer and three-layer - for filling the inner walls of objects with straight lines. Cardboard has a front (smoother, on which inscriptions are applied) side and a wrong side (less smooth).

Kraft paper (papier kraft)

Kraft paper Brown color used only outside furniture. It is glued with wallpaper glue to the finished form (furniture). It must be torn apart, and in no case cut with scissors. This treatment is needed in order to make the surface smoother, to prepare it for further pasting with decorative paper.

At first, kraft paper is used to glue all the edges and seams of furniture, then the entire area of \u200b\u200bfurniture.

White kraft paper is used for gluing the entire surface of furniture, when the subsequent decor is made in light colors from thin, transparent paper. If you do not have a white craft, then you can use a dark one and then cover it with one layer of white Actilla paint).

P.S. Some replace Kraft paper with tracing paper (pattern paper), it is also thin and cheaper (it also needs to be torn, not cut), and for gluing corners, protective tape (sold in a roll), which is glued with a wet sponge.

Cardboard cutting

To cut cardboard, you can use a jigsaw (the simplest model with blades for cutting metal). Its use saves time and results in clearer shapes, since several layers of cardboard can be cut at a time (front, inner and back walls, having previously fastened them with paper tape). When using a jigsaw, do not try to cut the shape at once, it is better to bring the line to the corner, retract the jigsaw and continue cutting, taking it a little further from the corner. Trim the remaining corners with a cutting knife.

When using a cutting knife (cutter), in order for the lines to be clear, you need to take a heavy metal ruler, which is placed on the cut line and drawn with a knife.

Shape and size of furniture

When you draw your furniture, consider not only the harmony of forms, but also their balance. It is very important. Furniture with a large protrusion that is not proportional to its base will not be stable. In the case of symmetrical furniture, you can draw only half of the model, the second half of which will only have to be transferred to cardboard. Also, do not forget about the proportions of the depth and width of future furniture, and, of course, about its use.

Furniture consists of at least 3 elements: facade, back wall and one or more internal elements. Internal elements are parts of the cardboard on which notches are placed, into which the transverse parts are then inserted, which make up the skeleton of the furniture. Their number depends on the depth of the furniture, as well as on the desired stability of the furniture, depending on its shape, e.g. curved or with different levels of depth. Furniture, 30 cm deep, one internal element is enough.

It is also necessary to think about the future use of your furniture in order to determine its structure: furniture on which an alarm clock or TV is placed is strengthened in different ways. All this affects the number and location of notches on the inner furniture element. Also, when designing furniture, you should always keep in mind 0.6 cm of furniture “clothes” (pasting with kraft paper and decorative paper), which will be added in the final result over the entire surface of your furniture.

Where to begin?

Do not immediately take on the closet complex shape or a chest of drawers with many drawers and shelves, you need to start with something small in order to understand the technology, understand the details and not burn out in the middle of the way. You can use ready-made patterns from books or websites, or you can come up with something of your own. It will be very interesting to try your hand at furniture for the nursery, for example, a small table or shelf, or a stool. If you involve a child in this activity - New furniture will become the most beloved, because it will be made together with mom or dad. In addition, it is light and safe, and when decorating, your baby will finally be able to paint a table or chair without fear of ruining the furniture.

To make a small table, you need to cut out two parts from durable cardboard in the shape of a future tabletop (an ordinary rectangle, circle, oval or something else) and cut strips of cardboard with a width equal to the desired thickness of the tabletop (about 7-10 cm). Then apply hot glue to one of the surfaces and stick strips of cardboard folded with an accordion edge to the base. The more strips you stick on, the more durable your table will be.

As a result of this operation, you will get a kind of cellular surface. Cover it with the second part of the countertop and glue it. Then glue the sides with strips of cardboard, and to get even edges, glue the edges of the base with paper.

Cardboard furniture - a new trend in the recycling movement, that is, in the transformation of the unnecessary into the necessary. Craftsmen from all over the world make full-fledged furniture from ordinary cardboard boxes, and today we will see which one.

I am sure that the question has repeatedly occurred to you about how you can use cardboard boxes, especially from appliances such as refrigerators and TVs. They are so new, beautiful, durable. It's a pity to throw it away! A little, very little work - and you get great cardboard furniture.

____________
Cardboard furniture looks exactly like ordinary furniture - for example, in the photo on the right you see a rack of ordinary cardboard boxes inserted into one another, pasted over at the ends with paper tape and painted white with waterproof paint. This rack cost the owners the cost of a liter can of paint, but it looks very dignified. As you can see, if you paint over the cardboard well, then the furniture becomes completely water-repellent and you can put as many flower vases as you like.

Pay attention to the photo above and the photo to the left that this cardboard furniture is easy to disassemble - the boxes are not glued, but connected with plastic clips, such as those used in street cafes, so that the wind does not blow the tablecloths off the tables.

Of course, you need to carefully make cardboard furniture - carefully cut off the “closers” of the boxes, insert one box into another, if necessary, if the smaller box is too small, and there is an empty space between its walls and the walls of the large box, lay this space with other sheets of cardboard .

Cardboard furniture can be upholstered inside with a beautiful fabric, as in the photo on the left, and then attach all sorts of accessories to this fabric on pins - photos, notes, reminders, etc. In the photo on the left, however, not furniture made of cardboard, but furniture made from wine boxes, but the essence is the same.

To upholster cardboard furniture with fabric, use ordinary pushpins, pressing the fabric well with them.

By putting together a lot of cardboard boxes and painting them in different colors, you will get great nursery furniture.

If you are going to make cardboard furniture not for reasons of economy, but for creative reasons, use different paints, fabrics, wallpaper residues, pieces of self-adhesive film, etc. A motley combination can be very beautiful if you carefully choose the colors!

Cardboard furniture, as I mentioned above, is a great solution for a nursery. Firstly, it is very cheap, so you can relax about its damage. Secondly, you can make it anything you like, and this stimulates your and your child's imagination.

___________

It's hard to believe, but the table on the left in the photo is also made of cardboard. Cardboard boxes re-inserted one inside the other. They are glued together and glued with a self-adhesive film under the tree. What acts as a countertop, I didn’t really understand - perhaps a chipboard board, or maybe also several layers of cardboard.

Cardboard furniture has become so popular in the West that a company has appeared in Australia that manufactures it on an industrial scale. In the photo on the right is a table made of cardboard, completely made from recycled materials, that is, cardboard boxes that no one needs. All cardboard furniture is very durable and can be used as regular furniture.

To make it easier to see that the furniture is made of cardboard, the manufacturer does not paint it.

Well, in order not to get up twice, I’ll tell you more in this article about furniture from boxes that are used by retail chains for transporting and storing food.

In the West, everyone is just crazy about such furniture, and on sites that tell how to make furniture out of cardboard or boxes, they even write: “If you are lucky enough to find boxes of fruit or wine ...” Why lucky - because retailers , as a rule, they treat their property very reverently and try to squeeze the maximum possible out of the container, the boxes are used until they are completely worn out, so it is not easy to find boxes in good condition.

It is clear that such a box on wheels can have many applications - for example, you can make a serving table in this way if you put the boxes on their side.

Furniture from boxes can be almost anything - for example, someone made both a coffee table and a rack from identical boxes for their living room, painting them with white paint.

You probably noticed in all the photos in this article that furniture made of cardboard and boxes is not universal - it is only suitable for interiors with a high degree of humor, built on the disregard of the owners for everything expensive and glamorous and on their love for everything funny, homemade.

For example, one Spaniard made this bedside table from two plywood boxes, screwing an old shelf to them on top and painting it with acrylic paint on his own. Nothing special, but the manufacturing process itself delivers pleasure. Plus, it costs nothing, but it still pleases the eye.

Excellent wall shelves can be made from plywood or wooden crates. It's very simple - saw the box, sand it and cover with varnish or paint to your liking. Pastoral, cute, funny.
