Installing an electric storage water heater with your own hands: connection diagrams. Diagram of connecting the boiler to the water supply in the apartment

It is not always possible to connect geyser or a boiler, and then the question arises about choosing an electrical appliance. Connecting a water heater of this type is much simpler; it can be installed both in an apartment and in a country house.

So, electric boilers– not the cheapest type of water heaters. If it is possible to install a geyser, then it is more economical to choose a gas analogue.

Types of electric water heaters

The most common and popular devices:

  • accumulative;
  • flow-through;
  • liquid

The latter type of water heaters is used only in the absence of a centralized water supply, so it is installed quite rarely.

What is better to choose

First of all, the choice of device depends on the amount of free space and consumption per family. The connection diagrams for water heaters and wiring requirements also vary.

Cumulative

Electric storage water heaters can supply the entire apartment hot water, which is carried out due to a capacious tank.

These boilers are most common in apartments, they do not require improved wiring, and are connected via a regular 220 V outlet. Electric heating tanks are very economical and can work immediately on all “hot” taps in a house or apartment. Also, the devices maintain the temperature of the heated water well and even in the absence of light, you will be provided with hot water.

The main disadvantage of this type of device is its impressive dimensions, which vary depending on the volume of the tank. Moreover, installing a water heater with your own hands in this case will be much more difficult. Since in any case you will need hot water wiring and an outlet from the water supply to connect the tank.

Models with an economical mode (ECO) help to save a lot of money. They allow you to maintain the required water temperature at minimum costs electricity.

Flow-through

An electric instantaneous water heater, unlike a storage one, has a modest size and does not require time to heat the water.

This type of water heater is suitable for dachas where there is no need to keep constantly heated water. The devices are quite compact and take up very little space. The equipment immediately supplies hot water to the tap, and there is no need to wait several hours for it to heat up. No matter how much water you use, it will always be hot, as it heats up as it passes through the water heater. Since the device is quite simple to manufacture, its price is lower than that of storage tanks. But unlike the latter, flow-through models consume a lot of electrical energy, require improved wiring and are unable to provide hot water to several taps at once.

How to connect a water heater: preparation

You should start your work with the selection the right tools and materials. Their set varies depending on the pipes used.

Be sure to obtain the following tools before starting work:

  • pipes;
  • valves, tees, angles;
  • ball valve;
  • set of keys;
  • adjustable or gas wrench;
  • pipe cutter or soldering station(depending on the type of pipes used).

The easiest way to work is with metal-plastic pipes, which can be cut even with an ordinary knife. To cut into such a pipeline, it is enough to cut off a piece of pipe and install a tee. No soldering irons or special equipment no need. The most complex is metal water supply. It is difficult to cut metal pipes; you will also need a clamp to make a branch for the boiler.

How to connect a instantaneous water heater in an apartment and in a country house

Before you begin installing a tankless water heater, make sure your meter and wiring will "pull" the water heater. If the meter has a current rating of less than 40A, it will require replacement.

Replacing the meter is easy. Choose the most powerful models. The installation is carried out by energy supervision services.

The same goes for wiring. Old aluminum wiring will not withstand heavy loads, which can lead to a fire. It is better to replace it with a new copper one with a larger cross-section. Pay attention to the power of the heater model. You should not choose models that are unable to maintain a water temperature of 40 degrees at a flow rate of 5 liters per minute.

Calculation of wire cross-section

Table of dependence of copper cable cross-section on current strength. You can choose suitable value wire cross-section from the table, knowing the power or current of the water heater..

Let's remember school course physics and power formula:

P = I * U;

where P is power (W), I is current (A), U is voltage (V).

It turns out that if the power of the device is, for example, 7 kW, then using the formula it is easy to calculate the required current value.

I = P / U = 7000 / 220 ≈ 32 (A).

For every square millimeter of cross-section copper wire account for 10 A current.

It turns out that we will need (take it with a reserve) a cable with a cross section of 4 mm.

The maximum power value of an instantaneous water heater is 8 kW for an apartment. For a higher value, you will certainly have to change the counter. Don’t forget that the meter powers all electrical appliances, not just the water heating device.

Additional protection

Do not forget that any heating device, and especially a water heating device, is a source of increased danger. Don’t be lazy and when changing the wiring, install a separate machine on the device. This will protect other devices, wiring and the meter from short circuit, and the house from fire.

Do-it-yourself instantaneous water heater installation

The principle of operation of the water heater is very simple: the hose supplying water to the shower is connected to the device. Thus cold water through this hose it is supplied to the water heater, it heats up and hot water is supplied through the second hose.

Flow devices do not need to be inserted into the pipeline, as storage devices require. Such devices can be connected to a regular shower. The device is equipped with a separate watering can, but there are also those equipped with a separate tap outlet.

The device is attached to the wall using ordinary self-tapping screws (light weight). Using a level is optional.

Alternatively, you can install a flow-through model so that hot water flows from all taps. Then you have to crash into the pipeline. Installation will be similar to storage type water heaters. But do not forget that such a device will not provide hot water to all taps at the same time.

How to connect a storage water heater

Installing such a device is much more difficult than a flow-through model. Firstly, you will need a lot of space for the device, as it is quite bulky. Secondly, tapping into the pipeline in the case of a storage water heater is mandatory, which adds complexity to installation. Thirdly, you need to take into account the condition of the wall where the device will be mounted, since it itself weighs a lot, and add a certain number of liters of water to boot.

The most popular models have a tank volume of 80-100 liters. This amount of water is enough for a family of 2-3 people.

Since the device stores hot water in a tank, it does not care about distance from taps or showers. The boiler can be installed where it is convenient for you, as long as the wall is strong and water pipes were located nearby.

Preparatory stage

Tools and equipment you will need when connecting yourself storage water heater.

To properly connect a storage water heater, in addition to the necessary tools, you will have to purchase a pair of ball valves, a non-return safety valve, a tube (to drain water), and hooks (to secure the tank to the wall). If the water supply is already connected to the device, then its installation is greatly simplified. Otherwise, you will also have to purchase pipes, tees or a clamp (in the case of a metal pipeline).

In addition, you will additionally need:

  • level;
  • roulette;
  • hammer drill.

Before you start installing the tank, you first need to install the pipes for hot and cold water.

How to connect a water heater to a water supply

The communication connection diagram itself is quite simple.

Scheme for connecting a storage water heater to communications. As you can see from the diagram, it doesn’t matter where you cut into the cold water pipeline. How to do further hot wiring - whatever is more convenient for you.

The following elements are indicated by numbers in the figure:

  • 1 and 2 – water supply valves (it is better to install ball valves, they are the most reliable). Using these taps, you can shut off the supply of cold water to the tank and hot water from the device;
  • 3 and 4 – a central tap that shuts off the access of water to the apartment and a tap that shuts off hot water (it is not necessary to install it, since a valve can only be installed at the outlet of the tank);
  • 5 – check valve, which is a mandatory element when installing a boiler and pipeline for hot water; (The check valve will protect the heating element of the tank from damage if cold water stops flowing into the device. It also relieves excess pressure from the water heater. Don’t forget to connect a tube to the valve through which water and condensate will flow).
  • 6 – drain valve, which will help drain all the water from the water heater tank when it is needed maintenance or repair. If there is no pressure in the central water supply, then you can always drain the hot water from the tank for your needs.

Important! The water drain valve MUST be located higher check valve, otherwise you will not be able to drain the water from the tank.

Do-it-yourself boiler installation

The main stages of installing a water heater: mark the wall, drill holes, screw in hooks, hang the water heater, connect the water supply.

It is quite difficult to install the device yourself, so you will need the help of another person. The tank is installed as follows:

  1. Find a suitable wall for the appliance. Step back from the ceiling a little more than 10-15 cm and, using a level, make notches for future holes. It is necessary to move away from the ceiling so that the water heater can sit on the hooks.
  2. Drill holes according to the length of the hooks.
  3. First install the dowels (wooden or plastic), then screw the screws into them, but at the same time leaving a small gap for the mounting strip.
  4. Next, lift the tank and hook it onto the hooks.
  5. Now you need to connect the “cold” hose.
  6. And also connect the “hot” hose in accordance with the diagram above.

The last stage is connecting the device to electricity.

How to connect a water heater to electricity

A simple diagram for connecting a water heater to electricity through a regular 220 Volt outlet.

When connecting to the electrical network, a lot depends on the power of the device. If you purchased a tank with a power of up to 3 kW, then it can be connected to a regular outlet or through an extension cord. But more powerful models should be provided with a separate wiring line.

If you want to protect yourself, then you should draw a separate line for the tank directly from the meter. Moreover, it is better to install a separate machine for it. It is not necessary to destroy the wall for such wiring. The wires are routed outside, secured with special brackets. The cross section is calculated according to the same instantaneous water heaters way.

Some useful rules when connecting the tank to the electrical network:

  • It is better to position the socket so that water does not get into it (for example, away from the washbasin or shower);
  • do not leave exposed wires in the bathroom, as this may cause high humidity a short circuit may occur;
  • do not forget about grounding;
  • do not use tees; the boiler must be connected to a separate outlet or extension cord.

Installing an electric water heater - pros or cons

But what to do if gas is supplied to your apartment? Can I install a gas water heater? Here again there is no clear answer. It will be cheaper to heat water with gas, but installing such equipment will be more expensive and more painful. With an electric tank, things are much simpler. By the way, you won’t have to change it often, but it is highly advisable to service it once a year. Electrical appliances are also considered safer.

What's the outcome

Instantaneous or storage water heater, which one to choose is everyone’s business and depends on the operating conditions. Flow-through models are not at all economical, but their installation is very simple. The second type is more reliable and versatile, but installing a storage water heater is much more difficult.

IN modern apartment the water heater has become an indispensable part engineering communications. He is especially remembered good word when the hot water is turned off. However, many are scared by the question of connecting a water heater with their own hands. In fact, connecting a storage water heater in an apartment is not as difficult as it might seem at first glance.

Let's see how to connect a storage water heater with your own hands in practice. At the same time, we will connect it in such a way that it can serve several water points. But first, let's look at the standard water heater connection diagram and functional features its components.

Water heater connection diagram

The standard connection diagram for a storage water heater is shown in the figure below. The configuration of the connection diagram is determined both by the operating characteristics of the water heater itself and by the need to temporarily turn it off and drain the water.

Fig.1.

You should pay attention to the following components of the circuit - these are valve No. 1, 2, 3 and a check valve.

Check valve prevents hot water from draining through a cold water pipe. The principle of operation of a storage water heater is that under the pressure of cold water, hot water is squeezed out of the tank. Structurally, this is organized in such a way that cold water is supplied from the bottom of the tank, and hot water is taken from the top. Without a check valve, hot water will flow into the cold water supply.

It would seem that this is impossible, but this is only at first glance. This situation occurs quite often in the absence of a check valve and at the same time the cold and hot water supply is turned off. In this case, when you open a hot water tap, air leaks in and water from the tank goes into the cold water supply system.

Tap No. 1 and Tap No. 2 always work in pairs, they are necessary to isolate the storage water heater from the water supply system. These valves are in the open position when the water heater is connected, and closed when it is turned off. Thanks to these taps, you can turn off the storage water heater not only when the hot water supply is restored, but also to remove it, for example, for repairs.

Crane No. 3 necessary to turn off the hot water supply. It is just as important as the rest of the circuit components. If you do not turn off this tap while using the storage water heater, your neighbors can use your hot water. This happens because the hot water from the water heater is connected to the central hot water supply system, and all the water will go into the common system.

Installation of a storage water heater

The installation of a water heater begins with determining the location where it will be located. At this stage, several requirements must be met.

  • It is advisable to install a storage water heater near hot and cold water risers, this will make it easier to turn it on and off.
  • The water heater should be installed at such a height that it is convenient to set the required temperature, i.e. The heater automation unit must be within reach.
  • Next to the storage water heater there should be electrical outlet. In this case, the electrical outlet must be located at a distance of at least 1 m from the bathtub or washbasin.
  • A storage water heater is electrical appliance high power and potentially dangerous. Therefore, it is advisable to provide a separate electrical line for the storage water heater. To connect water heaters with a power of up to 3 kW to the electrical network, a wire with a cross-section of 2.5 mm is used. In addition, an RCD (short circuit protection device) is installed on this line if this device has not been installed previously or the water heater does not have its own RCD.
  • To connect a storage water heater, it is necessary to provide two outlets for cold and hot water in the apartment’s water supply system.

Fig.2.

If all of the above conditions are met, then to connect the storage water heater you need to do the following work.

  • Purchase 2 hoses and 2 ball valves.
  • Mount the water heater on the wall using the fasteners that usually come with the water heater.
  • Install a check valve on the cold water supply pipe to the water heater.
  • Install ball valves on the bends.
  • Using hoses, connect the water heater to the outlets of the water supply system.

In practice, when installing a storage water heater, two difficulties are often encountered: lack of space for installation and the lack of outlets for connecting the water heater in the apartment’s water supply system. These two issues can be resolved quite simply.

A storage water heater, in principle, can be installed anywhere. Often heaters with a volume of up to 50 liters can be easily mounted under the sink. Of course, servicing it will not be very convenient, but this solves the problem of lack of space.

Fig.3.

The water heater can be connected not only to stationary outlets, but also to the installation sites of mixers. To do this, it is necessary to install tees and run branches from them to the water heater. Such bends can be made from metal-plastic pipes. You can do it even simpler, use long hoses.

Turning on/off the storage water heater

The initial parameters are valve No. 1 and No. 2 in the closed position, valve No. 3 in the open position. To turn on the water heater, it is necessary to move valve No. 1 and No. 2 to the open position, and valve No. 3 to the closed position. To turn off the water heater, do the opposite.

How to drain water from a water heater

In order to drain water from the water heater, you must perform the following steps.

  • Close tap No. 1 and No. 2.
  • Remove the check valve and put a hose on the heater inlet for easy draining.
  • Disconnect the pipe or hose from the hot water connection on the water heater.
  • After that, the water will drain under the influence of gravity through a hose connected to the cold water pipe on the water heater.

PHOTO of water heater connection

Now a few photos of how the water heater is actually connected. It should be said that connecting a storage water heater should begin with determining its installation location. IN in this example the water heater is installed above the bathtub, and the entire pipeline is mounted under the bathtub and in a box covering the sewer pipes. This was done because the water heater was connected after laying the tiles. It turned out not very aesthetically pleasing. Therefore, the connection of the water heater must be planned at the stage of laying water pipes.

Fig.4.

The photo shows the supply of hot and cold water to the storage water heater and the installed check valve. I want to draw your attention. That winding should be done only together with the connections of the check valve and the cold water pipe. With this method of connecting with hoses, there is no need to rewind. In this case, it was a necessary measure, because The hoses turned out to be of poor quality. The pressure release handle is wrapped with electrical tape because... cracked over time.

The photo shows taps No. 1 and No. 2; they are led directly to the water heater for ease of turning on and off.

Shown here is a plumbing connection. The middle pipe is the hot water supply. It is covered in the photo. The top pipe is the water supply from the water heater to the system. The far right one goes from the water heater, the middle one goes to the faucet in the bathroom and the left one goes to the rest of the system.

Fig.9.

Produce independent connection a water heater to the water supply system, the diagram of which is attached in the product passport, can be installed by each user if desired. To understand how to properly connect the device to your home water supply network, it is enough to study the selection of heated water from the container and follow the instructions in accordance with the diagram. The procedure is not particularly complicated, and it can be done even alone, unless installing the water heater on the wall yourself will require outside help.

The principle of drawing water from a tank

There is one correct scheme for connecting a storage water heater, taking into account the features of its design and allowing, if necessary, to quickly empty the tank. This need arises for the following reasons:

  • scheduled cleaning of the tank and heating element from scale;
  • occurrence of a malfunction;
  • moving or replacing the device with a new one;
  • emptying a water heater in a country house or in a house with periodic heating winter period.

Connecting the water heater to the water supply, the diagram of its installation and placement must take into account that water is drawn from the upper zone of the tank. This is explained by the fact that at the top the water is the hottest, and in the lower zone there is a replenishment of cold flow in the presence of water intake in DHW system. Selection occurs through a vertical tube, the cut of which is located in the upper zone.

Water from the container must not be allowed to return to the cold water supply system, so the boiler is connected to the water supply through a check valve. If the pressure in the network drops as a result of turning off the water, the valve will prevent the contents of the tank from flowing back into the pipe.

As a result of the standard connection of the boiler to the water supply, it will not be possible to quickly empty it by opening the hot water tap. Even unscrewing the hot water pipe from the fitting will not have an effect, since the water intake is located too high, and there is a check valve on the cold side. Solves the drain problem simple circuit connecting the water heater to the water supply, collected during the installation of the device.

What is required for installation?

Before installing an electric or gas boiler, you need to allocate it suitable place taking into account the following points:

  • placement of a water heater in an apartment or private house should be done taking into account ease of use and maintenance;
  • it must be taken into account that when emptying or repairing the apparatus, a significant part of the water may spill onto the floor;
  • It is convenient to connect the water heater yourself when the water supply and electrical networks are nearby and in the same room;
  • installation and connection gas boiler Doing it yourself involves connecting a pipeline supplying natural gas to the premises.

Based on the listed conditions, the installation and connection of a storage water heater can be performed in the following areas of a private house or apartment:

  • kitchen - above the sink;
  • bathroom - above the bath;
  • boiler room - above the tiled floor.

Before deciding how to connect the boiler to the water supply, you need to hang it from the wall. To complete all work, you will need an electric drill with an impact function (or a hammer drill), drills with carbide tipped and a standard set of locksmith tools, including a gas wrench and an adjustable wrench. The boiler connection diagram is assembled from the following elements and materials:

  • check valve with safety valve in one housing (usually included with the boiler);
  • bronze tee DN 15 (1/2");
  • ball valve DN 15 (1/2") - 3 pcs., 2 of them - with American connection;
  • pipes for connection (usually metal-polymer);
  • FUM tape, linen or special thread for sealing joints.

There is also an electrical diagram for connecting the boiler, according to which it is necessary to purchase differential circuit breakers for a current of 16 A (2 pcs.), a socket and plug with a grounding contact, as well as power cable required length. Connecting a device operating on natural gas, carried out using a gas hose.

Self-assembly of the system

The procedure begins with wall mounting the device, and only after that the issue of how to connect the storage water heater is resolved. Since the boiler has significant weight, it is better to secure it with an assistant. During installation, standard fasteners and anchor bolts or other devices are usually used if the wall is wooden or is a frame covered with plasterboard.

To connect a water heater with your own hands to the water supply network, turn off the water supply in the house and follow the instructions:

  1. To the cold water supply fitting (it is painted in blue) screw the tee, and to it - a standard check valve (also known as a safety valve).
  2. Connect a ball valve without an American connector to the tee. For ease of emptying, a 90° elbow with a hose connection can be screwed onto it.
  3. Below the check valve, place a ball valve with an American connection. Install the same on the hot water supply branch (marked in red on the water heater).
  4. Connect the installed fittings to the cold and hot water supply system.

If you installed the boiler yourself in a boiler room or other place where there are no sanitary fixtures under the device, then the fitting safety valve must be connected to the sewer outlet with a flexible tube.

In the absence sewer system the tube is lowered into a transparent plastic bottle or a canister. During operation of the unit, the heated water expands, and its excess slowly exits through the safety valve spout.

Thanks to assembled circuit connection, the boiler is easily emptied through a tee with a valve. Before draining, the cold water shut-off valve is closed, and the hot water shut-off valve is opened. You also need to open hot water at the nearest faucet; a maximum of 2 liters will flow out. Then the tap on the tee opens, and from there it drains; the place of water in the tank is taken by air entering through the mixer. Filling the container is simpler: you need to open the cold shut-off valve and wait until water runs out of the previously opened faucet. But first, do not forget to close the valve on the tee.

Can't imagine without hot water comfortable accommodation in an apartment or house. IN multi-storey buildings Accidents, interruptions in hot water, planned shutdowns, etc. often occur. As for private houses, the provision of hot water falls entirely on the owners. Therefore, purchasing and installing a water heater is sometimes the only possible solution this question.

Connecting a boiler is one of the most complex tasks, since the unit requires connection from the mains, both cold and hot water. Very important point- location of the boiler in relation to the pipes. It should be installed as close as possible, since the longevity of the system depends on it. The quality of the materials used is also very important. Flexible metal hoses, plastic pipes, tees, etc. must be of the highest possible quality. Don't skimp on materials.

Boiler installation algorithm:

  • Fasteners
  • Installation shut-off valves
  • Installation of a water inlet and outlet system from the boiler
  • Electrical connection

Sequence of work:

  • Shutting off the water supply pipe to the apartment

Types of boilers

Water heaters are divided according to the principle of operation:

  • flow-through;
  • cumulative.

Classification is also based on the following parameters:

  • size;
  • form;
  • heating system (direct, indirect, combined).

Flow-through boilers

They have disadvantages that make them not very profitable for apartments in high-rise buildings:

  • In such water heaters there is no water tank, and the water is heated by a heat exchanger using a heating element. This device requires high power and water pressure in the system. The minimum pressure in the water supply system must be no lower than 0.3 atm.
  • When using an instantaneous boiler, the water pressure will be low and the water will not be too hot.

Storage boilers

Such water heaters are much more popular. They come in pressure and non-pressure types. The main disadvantage of a free-flow boiler is low water pressure. The advantage of such a unit is a supply of water in case it is not available in the water supply system. The pressure in the pressure boiler system is equal to the pressure in the water supply system.

Storage water heaters are also divided according to the water heating system:

  • straight;
  • indirect;
  • combined.

Water heaters direct type They work on the principle of a conventional electric heater; they are equipped with a heating element (water heating element). Tautology of one sentence.

Heating elements, in turn, are:

  • dry;
  • wet.

An indirect type water heater works due to heat exchange between the coolant (heating boiler) and tap water. A significant disadvantage is that it requires the operation of a heating boiler all year round, and also requires installation of a boiler in close proximity to the boiler.

The combined type of water heater combines the properties of direct and indirect types. In winter, such a device can operate from a heating boiler, and in summer it can operate on the principle of a conventional water heater. A combined water heater is the most profitable and convenient.

Both instantaneous and storage boilers are available in pressure and non-pressure types. In non-pressure units there is no internal pressure - the pressure inside the water heater is almost equal to atmospheric pressure.

Pressure boilers mean high blood pressure inside the tank. As a rule, it is equal to the pressure in the water supply system.

How to choose the right boiler

First of all, you need to decide on your needs, namely:

  • with installation location;
  • boiler shape (vertical or horizontal);
  • volume (how much hot water you will need);
  • type of water heater (instantaneous or storage).

You should also take into account the number of people in the family. The larger the family, the larger the required boiler volume. You should also consider the purpose of the installation: if you need a boiler for the kitchen, you can limit yourself to a small volume of 10–15 l or 30 l. If you need it in a shower or bathroom, then the volume should be at least 80–100 liters.

Connection storage boiler

What to look for when choosing:

  • Body shape. The price depends on this. Round boilers are cheaper, but take up more space. Aggregates rectangular shape more expensive, but they are more compact and convenient.
  • Case material - steel or plastic.
  • Color scheme.
  • The material from which the tank is made. Such material can be enameled or stainless steel. Stainless steel tanks resist corrosion better, but at the same time great value has the quality of seams, since even stainless steel can be subject to corrosion at welding points.
  • Heating element type (dry or wet). Devices with a dry heating element are more expensive, but a wet heating element has a number of significant disadvantages, since it works on the principle of a boiler. Scale quickly forms both on the heating element and on the inner surface of the tank, which leads to overheating and increased energy consumption and reduced service life.
  • Warranty support. This should be noted special attention, since providing a long warranty can be a guarantee of high quality. If there is no guarantee, then it is better to refrain from purchasing - most likely the product is defective.
  • Price. You should not buy a water heater that is too cheap; there is a high probability that it will be of poor quality and will not last long.
  • Massiveness. A quality product weighs quite a lot. This means that the steel from which the tank is made is thick enough, so the product is of high quality and will last a long time.

What you need to connect

Tools and materials:

  • mounting level;
  • pliers;
  • marker;
  • Phillips screwdriver;
  • 2 water hoses (flexible);
  • 2 dowel nails with a hook at the end;
  • tap (valve) with a diameter of 10 mm (according to the diameter of the water pipe);
  • sanitary linen;
  • adjustable wrench;
  • roulette;
  • perforator;
  • safety valve (included with the boiler).

Schemes and drawings

As you know, an electric boiler has two types of connection: to the water supply system and electrical.

Boiler connection diagram

In order to correctly install the unit and at the same time comply with safety measures, there are diagrams. They are made in the form of drawings with designations of the main elements of the system. There are two types of circuits: wiring and electrical.

Wiring diagram

It schematically shows the main parts of the system, their sequence and location. This example shows the installation locations of shut-off valves, tee taps, check valves, and schematically shows the water circulation in the system (cold water inlet and hot water outlet, its supply to the mixer). Such a diagram can be found in the factory instructions that come with the unit.

Classic wiring diagram:

  • Shut-off valve.
  • Mechanical cleaning filter.
  • Tee on the cold water pipe (leads to the boiler and mixer).
  • Second shut-off valve on the way to the boiler.
  • Safety valve to prevent water from leaking in the opposite direction.
  • Tees that connect directly to the boiler - one for cold water inlet, the second for hot water outlet to the mixer.
  • Water line diagram.

Boiler connection diagram

Electrical diagram

The electrical diagram shows:

  • Wiring leading to the tank (originates from the electrical panel).
  • Three lines of wires (zero, phase, ground conductor). On the diagram they are always marked with different colors.
  • System elements: plug, grounding socket, double circuit breaker (switch). This is a mandatory element that makes it possible to completely disconnect the water heater from electricity if necessary.
  • The location of the meter, electrical panel, and grounding are also shown schematically.

All this is depicted using symbols, the decoding of which is necessarily attached to the diagram.

Installation and connection process

Fastening the boiler in stages:

  1. Choosing a place where the water heater will be located. It must necessarily provide access to it for the entire period of its operation.
  2. Assessing the condition of electrical wiring and pipelines. The wiring must withstand the load when the boiler is operating, and the condition of the pipeline must meet the requirements for the operation of such equipment.
  3. Drilling holes for mounting the water heater, after which fasteners are installed, and the boiler is secured using anchors and dowels.

Connection to water supply

  1. Before connecting the boiler to the water supply system, it is necessary to remove all the necessary tees in order to ensure the supply of water both to the boiler and from it to the mixer. If desired, a water filter can be installed.
  2. Next, you should pay attention to the tubes that are located at the bottom of the water heating tank. They usually have identification rings: blue - cold water; red - hot water. A safety valve must be attached to the tube with a blue ring - it can come complete with the boiler, or can be purchased separately. Installation of such a faucet is mandatory!
  3. Before attaching the safety valve, you should wrap plumbing flax or sealing tape around the threads.
  4. A flexible hose is attached to the bottom of the safety valve.
  5. The second flexible hose is attached to a tube with a red ring.
  6. The next step is to secure the other end of the flexible hose that is attached to the safety valve. In this case, its second end is attached to the water pipe - this line will supply water from the water supply to the tank. Before attaching the soft hose, you should install a tap so that you can turn off the water supply if necessary.
  7. The free end of the flexible hose (attached to the tube with the red ring) must be connected to the pipe that leads to the faucet. This line of hot water exiting the tank and supply goes to the mixer.

Electrical connection

What you will need:

  • Distribution board.
  • Cable of the required length and cross-section (three-core).
  • 16A circuit breaker.
  • Device protective shutdown(RCD), designed to operate with a current strength of more than 16A.

Sequence of work:

  1. Route the cable to the distribution panel (cable cross-section must be at least 2.5 mm, copper conductors).
  2. Connecting an RCD (residual current device) - this device will protect against electric shock in the event of a boiler malfunction. The RCD often comes complete with the boiler itself.
  3. Carrying out electric cable from the panel to the boiler.
  4. Installation of a circuit breaker (double), which must be designed for a current of at least 16A. It protects the network from current leakage through insulation damage.

When installing a boiler, a double boiler must be installed. circuit breaker. If we are talking about a private house, then the presence of a grounding circuit is mandatory. This is dictated by safety regulations.

Due to the fact that water heaters are presented in a variety of options that suit any needs, you don’t have to worry about being left without hot water. It is water heaters that guarantee convenience under any conditions. Their work does not depend on weather conditions, nor from utilities. Even if there is no centralized supply of hot water, if you have a boiler, it will always be in your home.

The dacha has long ceased to be a place for people to grow vegetables and fruits. More and more people are seeking to relax outside the city in their summer cottages.

Some people move to their dacha permanently or for the spring and summer. And, of course, everyone wants to relax and live in a dacha in comfortable conditions, without depriving themselves of the usual amenities that are found in a comfortable apartment. And the lack of hot water can completely ruin your entire vacation.

The problem with hot water at the dacha is quite easy to solve - for this you need to install a water heater. In stores you can find a lot of devices that heat water from the electrical network. You can read more about the types of water heaters in the article.

In order for the heater to work for a long time and efficiently, it must be properly connected to the network and water supply. The next article will tell you how to do this.

Choosing a place to install a water heater

Before installing a water heater, you need to decide where to do it. Here are a few factors to consider when choosing a location:

  • The load-bearing wall must be strong and resistant. Even if the water heater is of small volume, its weight is quite large. Therefore, it is necessary to take care, if necessary, to strengthen the wall or provide additional support.
  • water heater dimensions. You should measure in advance the place where you plan to install the water heater so as not to make a mistake with the dimensions.
  • if space allows, you can pre-allocate one room for a boiler room.
  • what type of water heater will be installed. Gas water heater requires certain communications. For example, air vent.

When installing, you should also remember that the sockets into which the heater will be plugged in must be insulated from water.

Water heater connection diagrams

Not for everyone summer cottages water pipes have been installed. Many summer residents do not have the opportunity to connect a water supply to their summer house. What should they do in this case?

There is a way out of this situation. Many owners country houses, deprived centralized water supply, use storage containers for water. Most often, these containers are installed on roofs. Owners of such storage tanks also have the opportunity to use water heaters.

Thus, depending on the type of water supply, there may be several schemes for connecting a water heater.

To a container of water

The main rule for connecting a water heater to a water tank is that the distance between them should be more than 2 meters.

If the distance between the tank and the boiler is less than 2 meters, a slightly different water heater connection scheme will be used.

Another nuance that should be taken into account when connecting the boiler is that the pressure should be less than 6 bar. If the pressure is higher, it is necessary to install a reducer that will reduce the pressure. The reducer is placed in front of the water heater. This must be done because the gearbox will protect the water heater from damage.

To the water supply

Connecting a boiler to a water supply is not a difficult task. To do this, you need to have at least some idea of how the plumbing system works.

Before connecting the boiler to the water supply, you need to hang it on the wall. To do this you will need strong, large mounts. They are rarely included with water heaters, so you need to take care of the fastenings in advance.

After you have hung the water heater on the wall, you can begin connecting it to the water supply. The diagram below shows how to connect the heater.

If the water leaves much to be desired, you need to install a filter in front of the heater. This will extend its service life.

If there is no grounding, the water heater cannot be installed.

What is required to connect?

In order to connect the water heater to the water supply system, you will need to stock up on a kit necessary tools and materials. During the installation process you will need:

  • pipes of the required diameter;
  • pipe tees;
  • shut-off valves;
  • sealant for plumbing work;
  • flexible hoses;
  • pipe cutter - manual or electric;
  • soldering iron;
  • several keys of different sizes.

We take into account the type of water supply

The method of connecting the boiler to the water supply largely depends on the type of water supply. We will consider several installation options - for polypropylene, metal and metal-plastic pipes.

Polypropylene

To provide reliable connection pipes made of polypropylene, you need to use special end couplings and turns. In this case, it is better to choose stabilized pipes, that is, additionally reinforced with another layer (most often this is aluminum foil).

Metal

When we talk about metal water pipes, we usually mean steel pipes. Connecting to such pipes is more difficult - this is due, first of all, to the characteristics of the material. For a more reliable connection, you should use a special clamp that can withstand heavy loads. The clamp must have a so-called “inset” (special pipe).

Connecting the boiler to a metal water supply system is carried out in the following sequence:

  • prepare the joint (inset): remove dirt and paint residues;
  • install a clamp on the main pipe, placing a sealing gasket under it;
  • armed with a drill, we drill a hole in the pipe that passes through the pipe (at the same time, we adjust the diameter of the hole to the diameter of the sleeve);
  • we apply the thread and install rivets (threaded connecting elements) on it;
  • we install the cranes in place;
  • We attach pipes to the taps, which we then connect to the device.

Metal-plastic

Metal-plastic is the most modern of all the above materials. It is lightweight and durable, making it very easy to use. Another important advantage of metal-plastic pipes is the convenience of the installation method: installation is carried out openly.

Main connection steps:

  • cut the pipe;
  • we install tees on it;
  • we make taps to the water heater;
  • We connect the pipes to the device.

We install shut-off valves

Important stage Connecting a water heater of any type to a water supply means installing devices designed to shut off the flow of water. The installation of such fittings for pipes with hot and cold water has its own characteristics.

For cold water supply

Electrical connection

To begin with, we want to introduce you to the basic rules for connecting a water heater to the electrical network. Compliance with these recommendations will allow installation to be carried out as safely and efficiently as possible.

  • The socket for the boiler must be located in a place inaccessible to water splashes. Experts strongly advise using special waterproof sockets for these purposes.
  • The water heater can only be turned on when grounding is connected to the electrical outlet. This can be done using a three-core wire (in this case, the socket must also be designed for three poles).

Connections electrical wires must be carried out outside the premises high level humidity. If we are talking about the kitchen and not the bathroom, this rule can be ignored.

After making sure that all safety rules will be followed, you can proceed directly to work. The procedure will be as follows:

  • measure the distance between the installation location of the water heater and the outlet;
  • disassemble the device plug into elements;
  • remove the insulating material from the cable;
  • we strip the veins using side cutters;
  • armed with a soldering iron, we connect the wires to the plug contacts (red - to phase, yellow/green/black - to ground; blue - to zero);
  • remove the water heater panel and open the contacts;
  • we strip the conductors at the opposite end of the cable;
  • connect them to the contacts of the device and return the panel to its place.

You can connect to the electrical network differently - connect the water heater directly to the panel. In this case, you need to proceed as follows:

  • lay the cable from the device to the electrical panel;
  • We install an automatic machine near the water heater;
  • we run the cable through the machine;
  • remove about 100 mm of insulating material from the cable;
  • we expose the phase from the machine;
  • We connect the phase from the machine to the upper terminal, and from the water heater to the lower terminal;
  • remove the insulating material at both ends of the cable, free the cores;
  • remove the boiler cover, connect the wires to the device terminal;
  • turn off the current supply and connect the heater to the electrical panel.

The following video shows water heater connection diagrams and their descriptions, which will help you understand how to connect the boiler correctly.
