In addition, if it comes to carrying or transporting them, this will also create certain problems. However, there is a way out and it is undoubtedly a tool box.

So, in any hardware store As a rule, you can find not only materials and tools, but also boxes for storing them, as related products. You can, of course, buy it, but it will certainly be much more pleasant for any craftsman to use a tool storage box made with his own hands as another proof of his skill. And the initial stage of production should be making a decision as to which particular box is needed in a particular case.

For example, if we are talking about home use from time to time, you can get by with a simple option, which is essentially a box with a handle, and if there is frequent use, quite large quantity tools, for example, due to official duties, it would be quite appropriate to use a large organizer box. The decision must be made individually and when it is made, you can proceed to production.

Manufacturing stages

When it comes to making a tool box, you need to know that this process can be divided into several stages.

  • Planning. On at this stage it is necessary to make preliminary calculations of the materials that will be required and draw up detailed drawing future box. The drawing can be done as in the usual way, that is, using drawing tools, and using special computer programs, in which you can even see the approximate result of all actions.

  • Preparation of necessary materials. It is necessary to prepare enough exact quantity materials and tools intended for use. In each specific case, this set will be individual, but it is unlikely to be possible without measuring instruments, fasteners, carpentry and plumbing tools, such as a hacksaw and a hammer.
  • Manufacturing. At this stage, as you might guess, the actual production of the box takes place. Here it is necessary to go into a little more detail.

Making a tool box

As an example of how to make a tool box, we offer a simple version for consideration. It will be a medium-sized box equipped with a carrying handle. As a manufacturing material, in principle, you can use the most various materials. Metal, plywood, and even plastic may be suitable. You need to decide what to use based on personal preferences, but traditionally it is used for these purposes edged board coniferous species, as the easiest to process and available material, which has quite good qualities.

So, to make wooden box for tools, you must first transfer a pre-made drawing to the material. To do this, you can use a ruler and pencil. After this work will be done, you need to cut out the components of the future box using a hacksaw or jigsaw. In this case, we are talking about simple version without lid, so it should be 5 components. That is, 4 walls and the bottom of the box. The dimensions of these elements must be determined based on what is necessary in each specific case.

After the components are made, they must be fastened together.

The joints must be carefully processed and cleaned, after which wood glue is applied to them, and the parts are firmly pressed against each other. In this form, the already shaped box is left until completely dry glue.

After this happens, it is necessary to achieve greatest strength additionally pierce the products at the joints of the elements with nails or twist them with self-tapping screws. Once this work is completed, attach a handle to the drawer. To do this, you can take a simple wooden slats and screw or nail it to the box. This refers to the upper edges of the end walls of the box.

At this point, the main stages of making a tool box can be considered complete. As an addition, you can further process the finished product using sandpaper different dispersion and cover it with varnish or an impregnating composition, such as stain, to protect the wood from moisture.

In conclusion, it is worth saying that this option How to make a tool box is the simplest, so any beginner can make it. As time passes, other versions may and most likely will be made, but the first toolbox you own will certainly be remembered.

This video is about making a tool box.

A box for storing various small items and products is considered an indispensable attribute in a modern household. Thanks to this design, everything is in its place without creating clutter. For example, vegetables and fruits should be stored in a ventilated structure where fresh air can easily enter.

Monolithic products without any holes are suitable for tools. Designs with additional doors and a folding mechanism are suitable for various small items.

We offer original options DIY storage boxes. Here you will find out what materials and tools you will need to make these products.

What materials are used to build structures?

Most often, boxes are made of wood and other materials. For instruments, it is better to choose solid pine or maple. Alder or aspen is suitable for products. These tree species are distinguished by their durability and strength. They do not emit resinous secretions and do not dry out over time.

Plywood is suitable for making decorative products. You can place all sorts of little things here. To fix the parts, a special adhesive composition is used.

Master class on creating a box with your own hands

We offer step by step instructions how to make a box at home. To do this you will need the following tools and materials:

  • measuring tape;
  • simple pencil;
  • board 25 mm thick;
  • wooden edges 15 mm thick;
  • thin plywood;
  • metal corners;
  • nails and screws;
  • hacksaw;
  • screwdriver;
  • metal hinges for opening the lid structure;
  • hammer.

First of all, you need to familiarize yourself with the diagrams and drawings of how to make a box. This will allow you to correctly compare the sizes finished product. You should not make too large structures, as they will take up a lot of free space.

When all the components are ready, you can proceed to making a storage system for vegetables and fruits. The process includes several stages:

On the surface of the boards we mark the size of the side parts of the product. Next we move on to the bottom of the box. We mark the size on the wooden edges. After this, using a hacksaw, we begin to cut out the blanks.

We fix the boards together using small nails. We attach the bottom parts using the same method.

The cover of the product consists of a plywood sheet. It is installed on special hinges that allow you to control the closing process.

The photo of the DIY box shows the entire work process.

Tool storage box

This type of design is considered best idea DIY box. This product will allow you to keep all your working tools in one place. Here you can make additional sections for storing screws, nails and nuts.

To do this you need to prepare:

  • thin board;
  • thick plywood;
  • hacksaw;
  • electric jigsaw;
  • hammer;
  • screwdriver;
  • measuring tape;
  • drawing of the finished product;
  • metal corners.

On sheets of thick plywood we make markings for the drawer parts. After this, we drill holes for fastening the metal hinges. Next, we connect the side parts to each other.

Let's start making the bottom for the storage system. To do this, we attach a thin board to the sides of the box. To prevent it from collapsing under the weight of tools, it must be strengthened with thin boards. To do this, several wooden elements are stuffed on the bottom surface.

On the side parts of the plywood we draw markings for the handles. They will be cut inside the main body of the product. Here you will need an electric jigsaw. The cutting base is installed at the beginning of the marking.

In the process of cutting out parts, you should not make sudden movements. They can cause cracks to appear on the surface of the product.

Now let's start installing the partitions. To do this, cut out a small square from thin plywood. It is fixed with metal corners in the middle of the structure.

The diagram shows a detailed view of the tool box. The drawing shows the exact number of parts:

  • side parts – 4 pcs.;
  • bottom – 1 pc.;
  • septal wall;
  • handles – 2 pcs.

DIY photo of boxes

The image of a master is inseparable from the toolbox he holds in his hand.

Moreover, this is not just an element of fine folklore, but a functional device. Sooner or later, the number of tools reaches a critical mass, and all this wealth must be somehow streamlined.

In addition, there are tools that cannot be simply stored in bulk. For example, files or drills. From friction against each other, these objects become dull. And during work, a tool lying around haphazardly forces you to waste time looking for it.

If you need to take a repair kit on the road, for example - you are going to your dacha for the weekend, you need a container for carrying it. Or do you want to separate plumbing and carpentry tool. And a garage kit shouldn’t interfere with other home improvement supplies at all.

So - we need a box to store the necessary devices, consumables and fastening elements. There are many options on sale that are convenient, compact, and practical. Some are real works of art. However, they cost some money.

There is only one way out - make a tool box with your own hands

To begin with, let's decide on the purpose. What kind of toolbox can a toolbox even be?

Portable tool box

It holds a small number of items, usually the configuration corresponds to the type of work. Such a box must have a strong lock so that it does not accidentally open during transportation. During movement, the instrument should not dangle inside; each element has its own niche, and is secured if possible.

Stationary tool box

True, this is a relative concept. They just don’t carry such a box with them to the place of work. It can be carefully moved within the workshop. This design does not provide mounts for tools, but they are arranged in compartments and, as a rule, divided into groups.

Specialized tool box

Unlike the first two options, such storage is intended for a specific group of devices. For example, wrenches, or a set of bits and drills for a screwdriver. In addition to the main contents, maintenance materials are usually placed in such boxes.

Hello everyone!

Today's toolbox is a very irreplaceable thing for every owner. Most of us have a lot of different tools that we may not use very often, but nevertheless we keep them, since more than one repair cannot be done without them. To ensure that the tool is in one place and convenient to transport, we use special boxes. Often we simply buy them at the nearest store; the range and variety allows us to do this. But why not make it yourself? The manufacturing process is not too complicated, anyone should be able to do it, especially with something made with their own hands, which is much more pleasant to use than a purchased version. This article will describe 4 different ways manufacturing of boxes, photo report attached.

Let's start making!

Manufacturing method No. 1

Make your own tool box home handyman quite capable. When a lot of tools accumulate in the house, there is a need to store them neatly. Making such a box is not at all a problem for a craftsman, so the question will rather be about what kind of box such a person needs.

Figure 1. A simple carpenter's box is convenient for storing essentials. necessary tools and materials.

About materials and tools

The easiest way to assemble a box is from solid wood or plywood. These materials are easy to find and easy to process, and they are stronger than the plastic containers you can buy in stores. To assemble a wooden box you will need:

  • jigsaw and hacksaw;
  • drill and screwdriver;
  • file and sandpaper;
  • board 2 cm thick, block 2.5x5 cm, lining or thick plywood;
  • accessories (piano hinges, hooks, handles, etc.);
  • wood glue and screws.

Figure 2. The tool case is made of plywood and several blocks.

Before starting work, you need to determine what type of box you need to make: for large tools, for small things, a universal sliding (transformer) or some other.

Draw a diagram and note on it the dimensions of the tool storage, the presence of compartments and their parameters, additional details in the form of a lid, locks or handles.

Then you should make drawings of the parts.

And only then start making a tool box.

Tool boxes

A simple carpenter's box was invented by our great-grandfathers: it is an open box with a handle. You can conveniently store large tools like an ax or hacksaw in it, and various little things(nails, files, etc.). Rice. 1. It consists of 2 parts, end walls complex shape, which are easy to do if you draw a rectangle of the required length and width, and build a trapezoid on its upper side. The height of the trapezoid will be equal to the height at which the carrying handle will be located.

The sides and bottom of the box are rectangles. The length of the sidewalls is equal to the length of the bottom and is dictated by the required dimensions of the product. The width of the sides is equal to the height of the walls of the box, and the width of the bottom is equal to the width of the end walls. When creating a drawing, you need to take into account the thickness of the material and the fact that during assembly the parts are placed overlapping one another (end walls on sidewalls). Therefore, to the desired width of the box you need to add twice the thickness of the board or plywood.

Figure 3. Transformer box - convenient and compact version tool box.

If you need to have a partition inside the box, you need to mark its location on the drawing (along, across, in the center, or otherwise) and calculate its dimensions, knowing the width and height of the side walls. You can first assemble the box, and then measure its internal parameters and cut out a rectangle for the partition.

You need to assemble a tool box with your own hands in the following sequence:

  • at a distance equal to ½ the thickness of the material, drill holes in the lower part of the sidewalls in constant increments of 5-10 cm;
  • attach the sidewall to the long side of the bottom with glue and self-tapping screws;
  • Drill rows of holes for fastening on the bottom and side vertical sides of the ends;
  • Attach with glue and self-tapping screws to the edges of the sidewalls and bottom.

In the upper part of the end walls, mark a place for attaching the handle. It can be secured as in the figure above, with self-tapping screws, or you can make through holes in the plywood and thread a piece of a block, a metal tube or a handle of suitable diameter through them, securing it with glue or stops made of self-tapping screws or nails.

The box in the form of a suitcase for tools (Fig. 2) is also easy to assemble:

  1. Make parts for the bottom frame from a 2.5x5 cm block. Saw off 2 bars with a length equal to the internal length of the suitcase plus 5 cm, and 2 pieces with a length equal to the desired internal width plus 2.5 cm.
  2. At the ends of the parts of the long sides, at a distance of 2.5 cm from the edge, make transverse cuts to half the thickness of the block (1.25 cm) and use a chisel to remove part of the wood before the cut.
  3. Place the parts of the short sides with wood glue into the resulting grooves.
  4. Cut a rectangle from plywood 6 mm thick, the length and width of which are equal external dimensions suitcase. Glue it around the perimeter to the bars or attach it to the screws.
  5. Make the same design for the lid. If desired, the depth of the lid can be reduced by selecting bars with a smaller width or sawing a 2.5x5 cm bar along the width (you will get 2 bars 2.5x2.5 cm). Connect the bottom and lid with piano hinges, make a handle and screw on the hooks.
  6. Inside the suitcase, glue short pieces of wood for tool sockets. Make pinwheels from thin strips to securely hold the contents during transportation.

How to make a transforming box?

This is a sliding box that can be made compact for carrying, and during work it can be expanded, creating convenient access to drawers with large tools and small items. Rice. 3.

First you need to assemble the largest, bottom drawer. Select its dimensions so that the largest tool can be placed there. Make smaller boxes with a width equal to ½ the width of the large box and a length equal to its length. There should be an even number of smaller boxes. You can arrange partitions inside them, equip them with retractable pencil-type lids, or equip them at your discretion. For the top pair of drawers, make convenient hinged lids.

The transformation mechanism consists of several metal strips. Their number depends on the “floors” of the box. The first, short strip connects the bottom drawer with 1 smaller one, the next one connects the bottom one, 1 and 2 smaller ones, another one can connect 1 and 2 smaller ones, as in the picture, but if there is a next row of drawers, it should also capture it. If more tiers are needed, then each subsequent strip should also cover 3 adjacent rows.

Installation of the strips must be done in a “folded box” state, placing them away from internal corner tier above to the projection of its middle onto the tier below, attaching to each box they hold. From the strip of the last tier you can make a handle, as in the picture, or bring its ends above the drawer and screw a handle from a block onto self-tapping screws. If there is no strip of sufficient length to make handles, then they can be attached to the end walls of the upper tier separately on convenient location. Any durable material is suitable for their manufacture: leather belts, canvas tape, wood or metal.
