DIY concrete tombstones. Installing a monument with your own hands. Tombstone elements made of facing rocks

When friends, family, and loved ones leave, it’s bittersweet. In memory of them, it is customary to place monuments in the cemetery, which can be made from natural stone(granite, marble), metal, granite chips. The materials intended for the manufacture of tombstones are quite heavy, so it is necessary to build a reliable foundation for the monument. You can contact a specialized company, but with minimal construction skills, it’s easy to do the work of installing the monument yourself.

Installation of a monument in a cemetery: preliminary work

Before starting work on the construction of a monument in a cemetery, a special permit for the construction of a monument must be obtained.

It should be noted that installation of the monument can only begin in warm weather, no earlier than one year after burial. During this period, the soil will be thoroughly compacted, reducing the risk of soil subsidence during work.

The next stage of work will be to study the soil in the cemetery (usually clay soils predominate in burial places, but sometimes others are found). Full characteristics soil will help you choose the most optimal foundation, capable of supporting the weight of a heavy tombstone.

When installing heavy structures on clay soils best to choose strip foundation deep, small monuments can be installed on a columnar base with a metal box.

If sandy soils predominate in the cemetery, it is enough to erect a strip foundation with a shallow recess for the monument. Such a base will support the weight of tombstones of any weight.

Foundation of the monument: stages of work

When constructing a base for a monument in a cemetery with your own hands, you should perform several stages of work:

Preparing the area - at this stage it is important to clear the area of plantings, old tombstones, debris, and level the soil.

How to dig a pit

Excavation work – a pit should be dug for the foundation for the monument. It is customary to place the foundation on the ground, which will not be touched when digging a grave (the inner side of the dug trenches for the foundation of the monument should be at least 20 cm away from the outer sides of the pit), with this location of the foundation its strength and reliability is guaranteed.

Having decided on a location, they begin digging trenches or holes, doing it with their own hands. When preparing a trench for the foundation of a monument, it is very important that the bottom and walls are level and have no slopes. The bottom of the dug pit is filled with gravel, then sand, with careful compaction of the underlying layers.

When installing a monument on columnar foundation, the construction of support pillars is carried out in separate pits, at least 40 cm deep.

Installation of formwork

Installing formwork in a cemetery - this stage of work requires a certain responsibility; it is very important to install the formwork as evenly as possible, observing vertical position shields You can make formwork with your own hands from boards, trying to select the material in such a way that minimal gaps remain. The formwork panels are strengthened by installing spacers and slopes. If substandard material was used for formwork, it should be inside insulate the panels with roofing felt. To waterproof the foundation, two layers of rolled bitumen are laid.

Foundation reinforcement

Reinforcement - to strengthen the foundation for a monument in a cemetery, reinforcement (with a diameter of 12 to 14 mm) should be laid, which will increase the strength of the base. At the installation site of the stele, it is necessary to provide reinforced reinforcement from ribbed reinforcement of a larger diameter, as well as the installation of embedded metal parts that can ensure the stability of the monument. The reinforcement frame is tied with reinforcing wire or metal rods are connected by welding.

Concrete works

Concreting - to pour the foundation, concrete is used, properly prepared in a ratio of 1:3 (1 part cement; 3 parts sand). The concrete mixture is prepared with your own hands, mixing at the place of installation. It is important to pour concrete into the formwork as quickly as possible, avoiding voids in the foundation body, for which compaction is carried out concrete mixture. The upper surface of the foundation is smoothed, then it is necessary to cover the structure from the sun and periodically moisten the concrete for several days.

The formwork panels can be dismantled in a week, and the installation of the monument can be carried out no earlier than in a month.

Facing

Cladding work – the pedestal facing begins after completely dry concrete and strengthening of the foundation. For facing work, slabs from natural stone or ceramic slabs for outdoor work. It is not allowed to carry out facing work in winter time, during precipitation (rain, snow, frost). It is best to carry out tile laying work at temperatures above +5°C.

You will need:

Getting started: tools and materials

At the beginning it follows:

  1. Clear the area: remove branches, leaves, carefully dig flower beds and curbs (if any).
  2. Then you need to level the hill to ground level so that the surface is level.
  3. Preparing to pour the foundation.

After what has been done above, we prepare the following tools for work: a hammer, a construction trowel, a construction level, a spatula, a bayonet-shovel, a rubberized hammer, a screwdriver, a screwdriver, a hacksaw for wood, a bucket, a gun (for sealant).

Wanted consumables: sealant, sand and cement, water and crushed stone, wooden board, several channels, wooden blocks (2 pcs.), fittings and wire.

Pouring the foundation

We outline the fields of the future pit with reinforcement and hammer pegs into its corners. We thoroughly level the soil within the marked boundaries of the pit. For reliable installation A strip foundation (smallly ruined) will suffice for the monument. The main thing is to correctly place the reference foundation points beyond the boundaries of the excavated soil.

For most monuments, it is enough to move the points beyond the edges of the pit by 30-50 cm. If the monument is very heavy, then the removal distance is increased.

The size of the foundation to be installed depends on the size of the monument itself. After removing the points, we dig a trench with a shovel (25-30 cm deep) along the outlined border, to a width of 21 cm.

Backfilling crushed stone and installing other elements

We pour a footing into the dug hole (a layer of 2 cm of sand, and on top of a 4-5 cm layer of crushed stone) and cover everything with a liquid layer of cement (1 cm above the crushed stone). Under sandy soil sand is not needed at all.
Then it is necessary to lay steel reinforcement along the edges of the foundation (across and along), and firmly connect it to each other with wire.
We install curbs on top of the laid reinforcement along the perimeter of the site using a rubber hammer, carefully adjusting their sides to each other.
Be sure to check the levelness of the site using a building level. Since any distortion in the future will lead to instability of the monument and destruction.

Laying the channel and preparing the site for the monument

After leveling the area, we lay channels (several pieces) and along the edge reinforcing pipes (2 pieces) on top of the cement mortar, covering the area of the entire grave (10-20 cm on its sides).

Empty spaces between the channels and the reinforcement must be filled with sand and compacted thoroughly.

And also, to make it more reliable, cover the top of the pipe with concrete.

We also check the evenness of laying of all parts with a level. Then the wooden formwork is assembled (using a screwdriver and a screwdriver), a frame is obtained, which is installed according to the level (4-5 cm above value 0), all corners and sides of the frame must be carefully checked, ensuring a perfectly even shape.

Fill with another layer of concrete without touching the support points (which are covered with soil when the solution hardens).

The solution hardens and the formwork can be cleaned up. The foundation is completely ready.

Paving stones are laid around the place under the monument, carefully pushing the stones towards each other with a rubberized hammer, making sure that they are firmly positioned and do not wobble from side to side.

Foundation cladding

First, you should inspect the frozen foundation, clean it of debris and eliminate possible unevenness, making sure that it lies level (using a level).
Then we use a tape measure to measure the dimensions for precise tiling of its surface.

The tiles must be laid at a temperature of at least +5 degrees, otherwise they will not stick.

Laying begins from the side.

The tile should be black (ideally 30x60 or 15x60 cm), and it must be thoroughly wiped to avoid dust. For better fixation, you can apply special glue to the surface.
After preparing the tiles, mix the cement solution; for this you can use a bucket or a previously prepared basin. The solution is made from cement, sand and crushed stone in a ratio of 1:3:5.

Apply a layer of cement to the cleaned tile with a trowel and attach it, pressing well.

First we repeat this procedure with each tile for the side cladding of the surface, and then lay the tiles from the front of the foundation.

When tiling, carefully observe that the front tile exactly covers the end of the side tile.

If you do everything correctly, you will get a perfect frame on all sides.
We also start laying tiles from the short side.
Then we move on to covering the long sides of the surface and check with a level so that everything is level.
Carefully seal all cracks with cement.

Then we rub the seams, adding beauty to the entire structure.

Installation of a memorial stele

Apply thick cement mortar to the designated area for the stand.

We install a short large beam at the base of the stele and measure for evenness with a level.
Then we install long beams and a short one (at the end of the structure).
We measure everything again with a level.

We inspect the structure from all sides so that there is no distortion anywhere.

In the stand that serves as the base of the stele, we drill holes (2 pieces) and pour cement into them. We insert pieces of reinforcement there (No. 12).

We wait until the cement hardens and the reinforcement holds firmly in the holes. A little sealant is applied to the stand (from a gun) and wooden blocks are placed along the edges of the reinforcement.

IN final stage the stele is strung on the reinforcement, the bars are carefully removed (after adjusting the stele) and it is firmly fixed on the beam. It is centered using a level and all seams are grouted.

How to lay the reinforcement for installing a monument?

Place one on the stand on both sides wooden block, and the hole in the monument is combined with a thick piece of reinforcement located in the center of the base. Then the wooden supports are removed. In this way, damage to the monument during installation can be avoided. The joints are treated with cement.

How to install a monument in a cemetery with your own hands?

There are many ways to place a monument in a cemetery, but the simplest ones are self-installation– on ritual slabs and on a concrete pad.
1) Ritual plates. Made from durable, high-quality concrete, they serve not only as a base for a monument, but also as an element of landscaping of the site.
Due to the fact that the beams under the slab are laid crosswise, they will not collapse in a few years.
2) Installation on a concrete pad is recommended if the cemetery has sandy or marshy soil. Having installed the tombstone on such a base, you can additionally cover the area with granite or porcelain tiles.

Where to temporarily keep the monument before installing it in the cemetery?

1) The monument must be protected from possible physical impact. There is no need to place it, for example, in a garage in a narrow opening between the car exit and the door.
2) The moral aspect should not be excluded. The family obviously won't be welcome in their hallway, monolithic structure with its entire appearance reminiscent of a cemetery.
3) It is worth using a place where the surface of the tombstone will not become dirty.
4) Numerous funeral service stores selling monuments may well become additional source information, especially if it is made of expensive material and you are worried about its safety.

Why put a channel under a monument?

Is there an ideal aspect ratio for a ritual monument?

The sizes of the monuments range from small to large. It is worth considering here that each cemetery has its own internal rules, so there may be certain restrictions on the format of the memorial elements installed.
The size of the monument depends on which grave it is placed on. For a single burial, vertical headstones are most optimal. This arrangement of the stele provides space for placing information about only one deceased person. Another type is horizontal, which are installed in family memorials consisting of two or more graves.
The standard sizes of tombstones depend on the format of all their components. As a rule, a set is installed on the grave, which consists of a stele, a cabinet and a flower bed. So, speaking about the dimensions of the monument, it is worth taking into account the dimensions of two elements - the stele and the pedestal - their combination determines the final height of the product.

How to install a fence in a cemetery?

Installing a fence is a complex procedure, so it must be installed by professionals. This will ensure the durability of the funeral decoration and the neat appearance of the burial site for many years.
1) Installation of the fence at ground level using screed method with landscaping. This option includes the formation of a mourning border around the perimeter of the product. During installation, roofing felt or cement-sand screed, as well as decorative crushed stone, are used. The method is applicable only for burial sites without a pendant on a horizontal surface. The cost of this type of professional installation of a fence on a grave is low.
2) Installation of a fence at ground level using paving slabs on half of the site with landscaping. This option is used only when installing fences and monuments on areas without a slope, as is the case with crushed stone. Only one half of the site is covered with decorative rubble, the other part of the site is left for other family burials.
3) Installation of a fence at ground level using paving slabs for the entire half of the site with landscaping. Specifications the fences correspond to the two previous options. Features of landscaping in this option is a permanent installation paving slabs the entire area of the burial site without the possibility of dismantling during subsequent burials.

What do you need to know when knitting a frame with reinforcement for a podium for a monument?

You need to use only high-quality durable reinforcement;
- smooth rods should not be used for reinforcement, as in this case the adhesion of the metal and concrete mortar, and accordingly the strength of the entire foundation;
- longitudinal connection It is recommended to use the overlapping method;
- the binding of reinforcement in the corners of the frame and at its intersection must have special strength.

How are photographs taken on granite monuments in a cemetery?

Using photoceramic technology. The basis is a ceramic (porcelain, porcelain stoneware) plate. Photo on enamel, as the name suggests, is applied to an enamel workpiece (usually metal).

How should the pedestal stand: on concrete or on the ground?

Only on concrete so that it does not sink into the ground.

How to deliver a monument to a grave?

1. Each item must be packaged and secured in the car in such a way that they do not hit or rub against each other during the journey. Otherwise, the polishing will be damaged and the edges may become scratched.
2. Load large parts first, then small parts.
3. When loading, if you feel that you might drop a part, it is better to warn your partner and carefully place it on the ground. If you drop it, you will be beaten or may be injured.
4. If the part is wet, wipe it dry. And it’s better to take a stone bare hands– with gloves it can slip out of your hands.
5. If the stele is vertical, tilt it towards you. Let two people lift the lower part - it's quite heavy.
6. If the size of the stele is more than 120*10*8, it is better to load it with four people, or entrust this work to professionals.

How to attach a photo to a monument?

Wipe the glued area on the monument with some solvent;
- let it dry, and at this moment step back 1 cm from the edges of the photo;
- apply glue along the contour of the photo frame in a thin, even layer;
- hold for 3-5 minutes and press tightly to the monument.

Remembering relatives and friends who have passed away, memorial plaques, obelisks, and pedestals are installed on their graves.

Tombstones are made of marble, granite, small stone chips and metal. The burial sites are looked after, maintained in order and ennobled.

Basically, they turn to specialized funeral service companies, where they order the installation of monuments in combination with foundation work. You can make the foundation for a monument in a cemetery yourself, without contacting construction organizations.

At the site of installation of the monument, the soil is first examined. Neighboring burial sites will be a good guide. On stable ground, the monuments look level and do not warp anywhere. You can make a foundation even for heavy slabs and tombstones.

On clay soil, strip foundations are laid under massive ritual complexes. In sandy soils, without going deep, a strip base is made.

Preference is given to the construction of monuments of small and medium size. The main focus of the project is on the center of gravity. In the most difficult place, the foundation is thoroughly strengthened. Particular strength keeps the structure in good condition for many years.

Standard set of material:

  • Glue;
  • Boards;
  • Sand;
  • Cement;
  • Crushed stone.

A base made of durable metal is used at the place of optimal load.

Site preparation

The construction of a foundation for a monument begins with clearing and preparing the site. If an old monument is erected, the location of the foundation and beams is determined. After clearing, marking is carried out. Using a crowbar, the edges of the burial are determined.

The length of the beams is calculated. A trench is dug under the ends of the beams and the frame is immersed. Reinforced concrete beams are laid taking into account that the cabinet and. Using a level will save a lot of time.

It is important at all stages to check the dimensions as often as possible.

Installation of formwork

Formwork is installed on the frame. The formwork is assembled from wooden material or metal shields. Temporary spacers are made under the tree, and the inside is covered with roofing felt insulation.

Ready-made formwork panels have great strength. The panels are connected with bolts. The design is easy to use. The formwork can be quickly removed from the foundation. After metal formwork, a smooth and level area remains.

For professional builders, metal panels become an indispensable assistant. If you build the foundation yourself, wooden formwork will cost less. The material is selected to be reliable to maintain concrete pressure.

Foundation reinforcement

Reinforcement increases the strength of the monument's base. Auxiliary fasteners reliably maintain the stability of the ritual complex. The frame is knitted from special wire or welded.

To install the stand, cement and water are diluted to a pasty state. Laitance of cement is fed into the lower opening of the pipe. The reinforcement pin is coated with the same solution. The pin is dipped in dry cement and inserted into the prepared hole at the bottom of the cabinet.

The beams are immersed in a trench filled with mortar. The beams must be recessed into the concrete itself. Excess mortar must be removed and wait until the structure “sets.” Next, a pillow is formed, and a stand is installed on it with a pin into the ground.

A large rubber mallet is used to compact the material evenly, and at the same time the stand is leveled.

Important! There must be connecting holes between the stand and the monument. Cement mortar is first poured into them and metal reinforcement is inserted.

Pouring concrete

For installation of the cabinet, a sand-cement mortar of high rigidity is made. Humidity should be low. Sand should not be allowed to spill. A weak solution is not suitable for such work.

Cement laitance is applied completely over the entire area of the reinforcement. Concrete is poured into the trench so that the beam is supported and located in the concrete. The structure is sprinkled with dry soil on top. The distance between the gaps is two mm or less.

After pouring, the joints are grouted. Cement is mixed with water until it reaches the consistency of sour cream. First, the long part of the flower bed is carefully removed and a concrete solution is laid. The middle remains empty to drain water during rain.

A slight downward deviation is allowed so that there is no gathering near the monument. rainwater. The seams are sprinkled with cement and deep cleaning is done. The remaining parts are also installed. The solution quickly sets and hardens.

To correctly place the monument without disturbing the structure, small planks are used on the stand. Check the alignment of the holes. After which the planks are removed. Having removed the last devices, the monument is carefully moved to release the free solution. A control check is made based on the level.

After sprinkling the seam, you must not:

  • Move and loosen;
  • Check the strength of the connection;
  • Fill the flower bed with soil. This can be done in two weeks.

If no auxiliary works, it remains to prime the visible solution near the monument.

Cladding works

There are many ways of facing monuments: from modern to classic options. Facing granite tiles strong, durable, looks beautiful, but is more expensive than paving slabs.

Previously with concrete base remove dirt and dust. Fat is removed from the surface special glue. Markings are made on the foundation. With a special circle, notches are applied where the glue will be poured. The tiles are laid according to the markings and pressed tightly. Within 24 hours the glue sets to the surface. Excess glue from the surface is removed with a solvent.

Recommends watching the video:

Instead of concrete tiles You can put a special slab made of heavy-duty reinforced concrete on the grave. A minimum of time is spent on installation - maximum aesthetics and reliability. Conventional cladding is an old proven installation method without glue, without cement, without a monolith. All work is carried out using a hammer and loose clinching.

Installation of a monument in the cemetery. The procedure and price for installing a tombstone. Photo, video. How to install a monument on a grave yourself, with your own hands?

Installing the monument yourself

Nothing obliges you to order the installation of a standard monument, and if there is a shortage of funds from professional services have to refuse. The person responsible for the burial, in whose name the documents and permits are drawn up, also has the right to mount the tombstone. Cemeteries are interested in orders from authorized companies or have their own staff of installers, but there are no legislative acts in this regard.

Install a standard monument yourself- a completely feasible task if you have the labor for it. You need physical strength, accuracy and at least a little construction experience. At least two people must work.

Foundation for a monument made of marble or granite

First decide what kind of foundation you need. If the monument has a flower garden, then it will need perimeter foundation- under the stele with a pedestal and under the borders of the flower garden. This is traditional strip foundation, and make it similar to the foundation for country houses. In the center of the flower garden, be sure to leave the plants in contact with the grave soil, where roots could grow. This video talks about the optimal construction of the foundation (reinforcement and pouring) into the ground without formwork. This is quite enough for foundation for the monument.

And, on the contrary, if a horizontal gravestone or sprinkled stone chips, and there are no living plants provided, then it is better to do a continuous pouring of concrete. Then the area in front of the stele will not be overgrown with weeds.

In both cases, experienced craftsmen do foundation "through and through" so that it protrudes beyond the boundaries of the tombstone by twenty to thirty centimeters. This gives b O greater resistance to subsidence of one or another corner of the monument. It is especially important to “expand” the foundation area under the stele - this is where the load is maximum.

Concrete mixtures for the foundation of the monument

In case self-installation monument It's better not to experiment and stick to it classic options. The most traditional and easiest to prepare are cement-sand mixtures with a ratio of approximately 1:3 - 1:5 cement to sand. You can use cement 400 or 500.

Important: horizontal alignment of the foundation

At the end of pouring, you must make sure that the foundation surface is level. There should be no distortions, dips or rises! To do this, they use a simple construction device, which is called: “Level” or “Virgin Level”.

Installation of a marble or granite stele on a pedestal

Installation in a groove or on a protrusion (on the tongue)

For installation in the groove a horizontal “groove” is cut out in the pedestal into which the stele is inserted. After this, the structure is cemented. This classic and proven method has a limitation: the fastening is reliable if the stele of the marble or granite tombstone is not too thick. Optimally - 5 cm.

Ledge (tongue) mount differs from installation in a groove in that the longitudinal groove in the stele is combined with a threshold (“tongue”) protruding from the pedestal, which increases the area of articulation between the stele and the pedestal. The method is suitable for narrow and not too massive steles . At the end of the work, the connection is filled cement mortar or stone glue.

Installation on fittings

In this case, the stele is placed on a stand using a thick metal reinforcement in the center of the slab. First, boards are placed on the pedestal on both sides, and then the stele is placed on top until the reinforcement protruding from the stand is neatly aligned with the holes in it. Then the wooden supports are carefully removed. Wood will protect marble and granite from damage - chips and cracks. The method is suitable for installing massive tombstones with a thick stele - 8 cm and more. The joint is treated with cement or glue.

After installing the stele, the seams between the stones are rubbed and treated with sealants.

Installation of polymer granite monuments

Welding (gluing)

Monuments or can be connected to the pedestal using the “cool welding” method, that is, gluing under pressure.

Even more often, polymer granite monuments are cast entirely: the stele along with the stand.

Installation of other types of monuments

Welded to a metal base traditional way. Wooden crosses are dug into the ground and the base is cemented. Monuments made of concrete and stone chips are initially made monolithic, combining a stele and a stand. But installation of an elite exclusive memorial complex it's better to trust only experienced craftsmen. This expensive work- from pouring a solid foundation to securely fastening all elements of the complex. If the monument is atypical (large or heavy), it is worth discuss installation details with the administration cemetery or its authorized company.

Prices for installation of a monument

Lowest installation price which in 2016 can be found on the Internet - 5,000 rubles. Which does not include either making a foundation for the monument or landscaping the grave. The minimum price you can expect when contacting professionals is: 25-30% of the cost of the tombstone. For installation and landscape design graves may costs the same, how much is the memorial complex itself. However, the most common proposal for installing a monument is 1/3 price the tombstone itself.

The bright memory of the person who left our world remains forever in the hearts of his loved ones and relatives. The path to the grave is not overgrown; there are always fresh flowers there. To emphasize the love for the deceased and the depth of their grief, family members install a tombstone at the grave, where the dates of birth and death, the name of the deceased, epitaphs are usually written, and a photograph is often placed (either embossed on the slab itself or printed). What are monuments made of? Read about this in the article.

Installation of a tombstone

Today you can order a monument at every funeral home. The staff will provide you with a catalog of samples from which you can choose suitable option. Also, if you want, the tombstone can be made according to an individual sketch. Before placing an order, you need to select a material. You will be told about what the monuments are made of at the office of the manufacturing company. Keep in mind that the higher quality and stronger the material, the longer the tombstone will retain its original appearance, however, the price will be correspondingly higher. Now the market offers all kinds of tombstones: stone, metal, polymer granite, concrete and even wood. Let's look at the advantages and disadvantages of each option in more detail.

Monuments made of natural stone

Such tombstones are considered the most reliable and noble; they will look dignified for a long time and can stand for centuries. What stone are monuments made of? The most the best material Granite is rightfully considered, marble is no less often used. Let's talk about the properties of these stones.

1. Granite tombstones

This material does not turn gray or fade when exposed to sunlight, and does not crack due to temperature changes. A granite monument can have any thickness and shape, because the material is easy to process. At the same time you can be sure that finished product will not have any damage: cracks or chips. It will be possible to apply a portrait image of any complexity onto it, and the surface will not lose its neatness and will not look too scratched. Advantage of this stone Another advantage is that it comes in a huge variety of color variations, so you can choose absolutely any color. Gabbro granite is considered the most beautiful and expensive.

2. Marble tombstones

This material is softer than granite, therefore, working with it is more problematic. Perhaps the advantages include more low price. It is impossible to carve a portrait on such a stone, so usually a photo oval is attached to it.

Manufacturers make tombstones not only from natural marble, but also make monuments from artificial stone. In any case, the material requires regular care and is less durable than granite. If you live at a considerable distance from the burial site and do not have the opportunity to often come to the cemetery to clean the marble from dirt, it is better to choose another tombstone option. The fact is that grease and moisture leave stains on such monuments, and the colored material is also characterized by low frost resistance.

Metal monuments

This group includes bronze, iron and other tombstones. Various metals have different properties, but have a common significant drawback - susceptibility to corrosion. Unfortunately, you should also be wary of vandalism. Hardware You can take it to a recycling center for money, so there are cases when monuments are simply taken away from the cemetery.

1. Bronze tombstones

They look expensive and solid, even corrosion looks noble on them. Nevertheless, they are quite rare in their entirety; often letters or bronze decorations are applied to stone slabs. In this way, even the most modest tombstone can be given individuality.

2. Iron monuments

These products are simple and easy to install. But dismantling, unfortunately, will not cause any difficulties either. In general, it is better not to choose this material: it quickly rusts and is easily deformed. To some extent, this situation can be prevented by regularly painting the tombstone.

What other material are monuments made from?

Nowadays polymer granite is often used for this type of product. This is a mixture of granite chips, which are first cast into molds and, after hardening, covered protective composition and draw up decorative elements. Such a tombstone will last less than a stone one, but it also costs less. Despite the fact that the monument will look like granite on the outside, it is often hollow inside. This means that after some time the joints will begin to separate, and beautiful view will be lost. In terms of manufacturing technology, polymer granite products are very similar to gravestones made from stone chips. The only difference is in the binding substance - instead of concrete, a polymer is used.

Other materials

When talking about what monuments are made of, it is impossible not to mention concrete. From of this material the tombstone is cast entirely, that is, apart from concrete, no other components are present. This design is unreliable; even with proper reinforcement, the monument will not retain its original appearance for long: the concrete quickly crumbles and begins to crumble under the influence of the external environment.

In conclusion

We have not listed all the options for what monuments are made from. The choice is quite extensive; To avoid mistakes, it is better to seek advice from professionals. After all, it is important to install a tombstone that will leave for descendants the memory of the deceased forever!
