The brick used is suitable for structures that are subject to thermal loads: fireclay or solid red M: 125-175 and higher. Anatoly2 used fireclay for several reasons: good color, reasonable price, consistent geometry.

When building a barbecue, bricks can be assembled. The quantity of bricks is from 1200 pieces. The thickness of the seam during laying is: 3-5 mm - on mortar and 5-7 mm - on the mixture. For cutting, the master soaks the brick for 5-6 minutes, for chamfering - 3-5 seconds, when laying - only rinses it.

For the beauty of the structure, Anatoly2 used a brick with a chamfer (cut at a right angle). The master removes it 4-5 mm along the leg. The brick is cut with a grinder and chamfered using a tile cutter.

The brick is placed on heat-resistant mixtures on cement based. When working with clay-sand mortar, add a glass of cement M:400 to a bucket of the mixture.

The first full and preliminary rows of the structure were made of a flange (a thin flat brick for the floor of the stove; Anatoly2 used a regular one, cut in half). In the same way we lay out a few more rows, leaving space for arch-lintels.

Cut out the circle. We use boards 710 mm long (for openings of 715 mm). We mark it this way: we set aside 145 mm from the axis, 20 mm along the edges (if the board allows, more is possible, the main condition is that the “takeoff” must be at least 1/8 of the opening width).


Next, we apply a strip or rule at a right angle to the board, as if continuing the axis, drawing a line. Using three points, we find the radius and draw an arc using a string and a pencil. We cut along the contour with a jigsaw, and also make two more elements.

Marking the brick. Attach the brick to the circle, draw “beveling” lines approximately according to the following formula: (50-20)/2 = 15 mm, where 50 is the distance between the pokes (where the bricks do not touch). Each lintel will require 9 bricks.

Using a circle, we cut the “heel” bricks on which the lintel will rest. The dimensions of the “heel” in this case are 113x140 mm (height). We make one of the heels in the form of an isosceles triangle with a height of 60 mm and a base of 113 mm. The first bricks for the lintels are cut in place.

The period of maintenance of arched lintels in the formwork depends on the quality of the solution and the air temperature. In summer, it is kept for 5-26 days.

Assembling three arches. They should be the same. We mark the prepared wedge bricks by height: we place them on a circle, with a gap for the seam, and draw a line along the level. The arches are assembled from the edges to the middle, the last brick is the “castle” brick.

Continued work

Floors. We lay out the corners, lay brick on top, make the outline, external layout and make the first row of the tabletop. After the work on it is completed, we remove the circles and begin to form the working part.

Initially, a site for construction is selected. When placing a barbecue in a building, it is necessary to prepare a foundation for it. Together with it, a base for a barbecue oven is made; it is similar to a slab foundation.

The pit is made 0.3 m larger than the dimensions of the structure, and about a meter deep. The formwork is installed and a sand and gravel “cushion” is laid on its bottom. It is covered with the first layer of mortar (0.2 m), and then steel rods are laid like a lattice. From the end of pouring until the solution completely hardens, 1-3 weeks should pass.

Step 2: Preparation

Before starting construction, you should select building materials for construction. It should be remembered that for the construction of a furnace, two types of bricks are needed: the main refractory one and for cladding. At the same time, only fireclay bricks that are resistant to high temperatures are laid in the firebox area, which also has excellent heat-saving qualities and long-term heat transfer. Step 3: Construction

In the construction of the structure, an ordering scheme is used (see below). It takes into account regular sizes brick – 230*114*65. For the firebox and stove, bricks should be laid only with clay mortar, and in places not in direct contact with fire, ordinary bricks are allowed to be used.

Pre-mixed fireclay mortar requires red clay, cement, sand and water.

Step 4: Firing

After the stove is erected, firewood or coal is placed in the firebox and barbecue and then set on fire. This is necessary for firing the inner surface of the furnace walls. The heat is brought to the maximum possible.

This is one of the most functional stoves for a summer residence. For small areas, a simplified scheme is suitable. When choosing the type of garden barbecue, you need to take into account all its parameters: functionality, size, location on your summer cottage. For the convenience and durability of the structure, it would be advisable to build a gazebo or pavilion.

Step 5: Drying

After heating the oven, the next step is drying. It should be carried out in the summer in clear weather - at least 5 days, and in the fall in cloudy weather - up to 20 days. In this case, it should be covered from possible rain with a protective film.

The final stage will be decorating the stove. The bricks should be freed from excess mortar and paint should be applied in the right places to highlight the seams. After which the barbecue oven is completely ready for its intended use.
