  3. The head of the bolt must not be visible or have edges ground off so that it cannot be unscrewed from the outside.
  4. A beam or channel is drilled in the middle and put on a bolt, secured with locknuts.
  5. Fixed channels are fixed on both wings, into which the beam or strip enters when turning. The slots can be made wedge-shaped so that the leaves are stronger and easier to pull when closing.

How to make a sliding bolt for the gate

  1. Take a steel strip about 400 mm long and about 50 mm wide.

  1. Cut the tube into three parts - a long one (about 10 cm) and two short ones (5 cm each).
  2. Weld a long tube to one of the wings. On the opposite sash, weld a shorter segment so that the rod enters it.
  3. Having inserted the rod into the tubes to the end, put another short piece of tube on the free end and attach it by welding. Make sure the gate opens and closes freely.
  4. In order for the deadbolt to be fixed in the closed state, weld a metal plate or corner that fixes the handle in this position. You can add a padlock eye to the plate to secure the deadbolt.

Vertical bolts for swing gates

Such deadbolts most often perform an auxiliary function, they securely fix the lower part of the gate, and also help to keep the leaves in open position. They also use a rod with a diameter of at least 10 mm, L-shaped and a tube of the corresponding inner diameter.

  1. The tube is welded at the bottom of the gate.
  2. A pin is inserted into it and fixed in a hole in the ground, base concrete or gate frame.

Forging process

The process consists of several stages:

  • heating the blank;
  • swage;
  • blank;
  • final finishing.

Initially, the ingot is heated to 300 ° C, after which it is placed in an oven, where it is gradually heated to maximum temperature. Having removed the blank from the furnace, it should be compacted with hammer blows, rolling in a circle. It is during the crimping process that the scale formed during the heating process will be removed. Hammering is carried out in two stages: first, a blank is made, and at the end, the product is subjected to final finishing.

The gate will consist of several structural elements:

  • frame - profile pipe 30x20;
  • awnings;
  • patterns - stripes 12x6, square 10x10, 12x12;
  • supports;
  • locks and latches.

The supports are metal elements necessary for fastening the gate. The main structure is the frame, the canopies act as a connecting element, and the forged parts decorate the product.

The base will have classical rectangular shape made of 4 metal profiles. Initially, a profile pipe is cut, from which the frame is assembled, the evenness of all diagonals is checked using a tape measure. Welding of parts is carried out with tacks on the side and top, and after that the seams are welded, and the arc is cut.

Patterns will be made from ordinary reinforcing bars, cut in accordance with the dimensions indicated in the drawing. Workpieces are preheated in gas forge for 5 minutes, after which a pattern " Goose foot". It is necessary to insert a rod between the rollers and perform several rolls of a 10x10 square, after which a pattern is formed on the ribbed part of the equipment. The curls are bent on the "Snail", which allows you to effectively deform the cold fittings. However, to obtain an even pattern, the workpiece must be heated.

It is forbidden to cool the workpiece by lowering it into water, as this will lead to hardening of the metal. The subsequent formation of curls using this blank will lead to equipment failure or excessive deformation of the curl.

The material for the manufacture of curls will be a 12x6 strip, the heating of which is not necessary. Manufacturing faceted peak again, it will be performed on the "Eccentric", in this case, the rolling of the workpiece is carried out gradually, after each stage it is rotated by 90 °. You can do without the "Eccentric", just apply on steel sheet(5mm) dimensions. The resulting triangles are cut out with a grinder, after which the elements are given a three-dimensional look. This is achieved by removing the angles from the workpieces under the required slope, for which they use a grinder. It is also permissible to heat the part by gas welding and give the product the desired volume with a hammer.

The peak will be attached to spiral quadrilateral. It is necessary to cut off the workpiece of the appropriate size and make risks on it at a distance of 10 cm according to the number of sections with spirals. The workpiece is clamped in a vise at the level where the spiral is supposed to begin. Taking the curved yews, we clamp the quadrangle along the line with the ends of the turns. By rotating the yew along the axis of the workpiece, we create a spiral, which will be used to set the peak.

Having drawn the required pattern on the sheet, we cut off a 20 mm high ring from the pipe, subsequently welded to the extreme bending point. Having attached the quadrangle to the ring going at the beginning of the drawing, we grab it by welding. Rolling clamps is performed using a strip of 20x2mm, it is with its help that the welding spots will subsequently be masked. Twisting side bars performed on the "Torsion", it is necessary to mark with chalk the place of twisting the square and fix the workpiece on the machine. You should clamp the square on one side, and connect the opposite segment to the rotating part. This is where clamps come in handy, providing excellent grip. When twisting, count the number of turns, do not do more than two with a gap of 15 cm.

When the components are ready, you can start welding. The main task is to maintain symmetry. Joints up to 1 cm long are thoroughly boiled with high currents.

After that, the welding site is cleaned grinder and then with a wire brush. The aesthetics of the product will be given by pre-prepared clamps mounted at the welding site.
