How to cut corrugated board: the pros and cons of tools. How and what is the best way to cut sheets of corrugated board? How to cut corrugated board with scissors

Fulfilling roofing many non-professional craftsmen are faced with the fact that they do not know how and with what to cut corrugated board. Lack of knowledge, experience or necessary tool may damage the material. Incorrect cutting and trimming of cut edges is the most common cause formation of corrosion on the surface of the corrugated board. At the same time, such a roofing can be very easy and convenient to install if the work is carried out in accordance with the technology. In this article, we will tell you how to properly cut corrugated board so that it lasts for 25-50 years.

At first glance, it seems that the corrugated board is an ordinary sheet metal, which was given relief with the help of stamping. However, this opinion is erroneous, since this material has a complex multilayer coating. As a basis for the production of corrugated board, sheet steel with a thickness of 0.5-1.2 mm is really used, which is covered with a layer of zinc and polymer (plastisol, pural, polyester) during the manufacturing process. This structure of the profiled sheet protects the metal surface from contact with the liquid, preventing the appearance of corrosion centers. There are the following types of profiled sheet, differing in height, width and profile shape:

  1. Wall. This type of corrugated board is used for wall cladding, the construction of fences and fences, and the organization of formwork. He has a small bearing capacity, therefore it is not used as a roofing covering.
  2. Roofing. Roof decking has big amount vertical stiffeners, which provide a large load-bearing capacity to this material. It is used for roofing.
  3. Universal. Universal corrugated board has medium characteristics, it can be used to perform any construction tasks.

Note! The peculiarity of working with corrugated board is that it polymer coating extremely susceptible to high temperatures. It quickly burns out, exposing metal that is not resistant to corrosion. Therefore, the processing, cutting and installation of corrugated board are carried out only by the cold method.

Bulgarian is the popular name for an angle grinder, which during Soviet times was imported mainly from friendly Bulgaria. This universal tool has many uses, including being used to cut corrugated board. With the help of a grinder, you can quickly cut a large amount of material, professional craftsmen perform cutting in batches. However, this method has 3 significant drawbacks:

  • corner Grinder is an abrasive tool, therefore, when cutting corrugated board, there will inevitably be minor damage, chips and other defects that worsen the corrosion resistance of the material.
  • When performing sharp, even if you use a special disk, metal particles of high temperature fly out, which burn through the polymer coating of the corrugated board.
  • A diamond and a special blade for metal, when cutting, leave uneven, torn edges at the work site, which need to be processed additionally.

Note! To cut the corrugated board with a grinder, you need to buy a special disc for cutting profiled decking. It has a small thickness of up to 1.6 mm and teeth made of carbide materials.

To protect the edges of the cut from corrosion after processing with a grinder, they are treated with a special primer or paint.

Most professional craftsmen use a special hacksaw for cutting corrugated board. It is in the arsenal of any builder, and cutting blades are quite inexpensive. In addition, when doing work with a hacksaw, much less noise is created. This method is popular because it has the following advantages:

  1. The cut edges are smooth, without chips and burrs, so they do not need additional processing and protective coating.
  2. Cutting is performed quickly, accurately, without the use of great physical force. Using a hacksaw, you can independently cut sheets to size for making a small fence or roof.
  3. This cutting method does not require a complex tool, it can be used even in the absence of electricity.

Important! Using a hacksaw for metal, it is convenient to cut in a straight line. It is almost impossible to make curved cuts with this simple tool; scissors are better suited for them.

To cut corrugated board with a hacksaw, you will have to put together a cutting table, to which the sheets will be fixed with special clamps. Otherwise, you will have to work together.

In the absence of a grinder and a hacksaw, metal shears can be used to cut corrugated board. They look like regular ones but have larger size and sharp straight blades made of carbide materials. Scissors are indispensable for metal, if you need to cut thin strips of corrugated board or perform curly cutting. Work with this tool is slow and difficult.

Professional roofers use metal shears as additional tool when working with corrugated board. They cut this material well across the wave, but they are practically not used for cutting along the profile, since the flexibility of the profiled sheet in this direction is extremely low.

Metal shears are inexpensive, usually they are in the arsenal of a roofing master. When working with them, you can not get damaged or injured. Compared to other corrugated board cutting tools, scissors have the following advantages:

  • They do not damage the protective polymer coating of the profiled sheet, which does not reduce the corrosion resistance and service life of the material.
  • They can cut corrugated board across the waves without fear of damaging the material.
  • With scissors, it is easy to make curved cuts that you cannot make with a hacksaw.

jigsaw

To obtain a figured cut on corrugated board, which cannot be made with a hacksaw, use a jigsaw. Hand tools are used for a small amount of work, and cutting a large number material is performed using power tools. Cutting with a jigsaw is faster than with scissors or a hacksaw, but slower than with a grinder. This tool has disadvantages:

  • It is not suitable for all brands of corrugated board. Using a jigsaw, you can cut the material if the wave height is from 25 mm.
  • The jigsaw is not suitable for longitudinal cuts of great length, the work is long and inconvenient.

Note! When using a jigsaw, cutting is performed at high speeds, due to which the polymer coating along the edges of the cut burns out, exposing the metal. To prevent the formation of corrosion in these places, the edges are treated with a special primer or paint.

Many inexperienced craftsmen are wondering how to cut corrugated board so as not to be afraid to damage the material. Roofing from a profiled sheet, as a rule, has a thin polymer coating, which can be damaged even by a slight abrasive effect or high temperature. To reduce the negative effect of cutting, you need to treat the edges with a primer, mastic or paint.

Video instruction

It would seem that something simpler: take a tool that, in principle, is capable of cutting metal, and cut ... Especially since the choice at hand, as a rule, is not very large:

  • Hacksaw for metal.
  • Jigsaw.
  • Circular saw.
The first three tools also exist in an electric version. However, ignorance or not taking into account some of the nuances can result in not the most pleasant consequences in the form of, at least, rusty streaks on the new gate or roof. Let's look at how and with what to cut corrugated board, so as not to be upset later.

In order to approach the question of choosing a tool with full awareness of the consequences, one must first understand what this material really is. According to the first figure, it is clear that a profiled sheet is a metal profile with different depths and “wave” shapes. The variety of types is explained both by the decorative functions of the corrugated board and by the need to give the sheets a certain rigidity in the longitudinal direction, depending on the scope of its application. It could be a fence internal partition V industrial building or the outer roof of a residential building... The "construction" of the sheet is shown on the right. From the inscriptions it is clear for what purposes each layer of this “pie” serves. The polymer coating can be different colors, so each developer can choose what he likes.

What is the profiler afraid of?

For any substance in nature, there is an environment or impact that can lead to its deterioration or even destruction. In this case, such substances are metal and polymer coating. The metal can rust and rot, the polymer coating will lose its appearance from mechanical impact or fire. Remembering these key points, you can start choosing a tool for work. To accept correct solution, you need to understand what effect the working tool will have on the layers of the profiled sheet.

How do they work

Let's consider each tool separately to understand its features and decide how to cut corrugated board so that there are fewer problems.

Scissors

It must be said right away that a large amount of work cannot be mastered with these tools. Scissors for cutting corrugated board are good in case of:
  • Cuts in the transverse direction.
  • Curly cutting.
  • Bringing the cut to the end in cases where another tool can ruin the sheet.
  • Small amount of work.
Main disadvantages:
  • The cut line is not always straight. The edges of the sheet are bent, which subsequently requires the application of efforts to align them.

Die-cutting (or punching) electric scissors

A feature of this device is that it does not cut the metal and does not cut it like a chisel, but knocks out a narrow path in the direction of the cut. This must be taken into account when using the tool, especially if it is necessary to maintain dimensional accuracy to the millimeter. The cut is fairly straight in every direction. Unfortunately, they have one significant drawback - the high price. It is hardly worth buying them just to cut a few sheets for the roof of a house.. But if the amount of work is large and the quality professional tool, these scissors may well justify themselves.

Drill bits

If out of all the options considered, someone likes nibblers, then you can purchase nozzles for a drill that work on the same principle.
Of course, you need to get used to working with such a double tool, so you should first practice on some unnecessary piece of corrugated board.

Hacksaw or jigsaw

Both in manual and electrical options they complement each other. A hacksaw cuts well in straight lines. And when you need to make a cut along a curve, curly, it is better to use a jigsaw. The edges of the cut are smooth, without notches; additional machining is usually not required.
The disadvantages are as follows:
  • To work with a hacksaw and a jigsaw, you must have a special table with fixtures for attaching sheets so that they do not vibrate.
  • It makes sense to cut profiled sheets with a hacksaw small size from thin metal.
  • When working with an electric tool, the sheet must be pressed firmly against the table so that it does not rattle.
  • The jigsaw is recommended for use with a wave height of up to 25 mm.

When using this tool, it must be remembered that all manufacturers expressly prohibit cutting profiled sheets with an angle grinder under the threat of voiding the warranty on their products. I also strongly discourage its use.
Nevertheless, many people prefer to cut with this particular tool for one reason - it is always at hand. And often they do it wrong, without minimizing the negative consequences.
  1. It is bad if the direction of rotation of the disk is opposite to the direction of movement of the grinder (as in the figure). It is obvious that sparks, falling on the polymer coating, burn through it and after the first rain the sheet will be covered with rusty spots.
  2. With this method of cutting, the disk is quickly consumed, and sometimes it can collapse and injure a person.
It is more correct to work with the "grinder" like this:
  1. The direction of rotation of the disk should match the direction of movement of the tool (as the wheels spin in the same direction as the car goes on the road). In this case, the disk does not cut into the metal, grinding itself, but “licks” it under itself, prolonging its service life.
  2. Sparks, when cut correctly, fly down, with little or no damage to the surface.
  3. Additionally, you can protect the profiled sheet from below by placing, for example, fiberboard or boards under it.
  4. Instead of an abrasive disc, it is better to use discs with hard alloy teeth.
The main advantage of using the grinder is speed. The main disadvantage is damage to the polymer coating of the metal and, as a result, subsequent corrosion. I strongly do not recommend using this tool for such tasks.

Circular saw

Cutting corrugated board with a circular will be more efficient if you use a fine-toothed disc with carbide teeth. In order not to damage the polymer coating, it is recommended to do accessory from flat board or plywood with a length of 1 to 2 meters and a width of 20–40 cm. In the center of this device, departing from the ends by 10–15 cm, you need to cut a gap with the same saw. On the profiled sheet, make marks along the cut line so that the distance between them is not more length cracks in plywood or board. Then the device is superimposed on the sheet so that the marks are visible in the slot, which serves as a guide for the movement of the circular saw. The saw moves along the board without scratching the surface of the corrugated board, and cuts it.

Some results

As you can see, all tools have their own characteristics.
  • After some it is necessary mechanically align the edge of the sheet, even if during installation it will be hidden by a ridge structure or another sheet.
  • The use of "grinder" leads to burning of the edges of the sheet.
  • Some tools make a loud, unpleasant sound when working, which may not please all neighbors.
It is clear that in this case it is impossible to achieve the ideal, therefore, when deciding how to cut the corrugated board, you need to take these points into account and, as far as possible, correct the consequences.
  1. Burning the edges of the sheet leads to damage protective layers, so the metal base can rust and after two or three years the entire sheet will have to be changed.
  2. Sparks during improper operation of a power tool can damage the polymer coating, and then it will become unusable much earlier than we would like.
  3. An unevenly cut edge may cause a gap to form at the seam. Here it must be remembered that usually corrugated board is laid on the roof with one sheet, from the eaves to the ridge, and the width of the ridge sheet may simply not be enough to cover the unevenly cut edge. This will result in wasted material.
  4. When cutting a profiled sheet with any tool, the protective layers are violated at the cut site. To protect the metal from moisture, it is recommended to treat the edges of the cuts with special paints.

When choosing a tool, you should be guided by your financial capabilities. It is also important whether it will be possible to use it after the completion of work with corrugated board to perform other tasks. For example, circular saw you can cut wood by replacing the working disk, and punching shears are only suitable for cutting thin sheet metal.

The need to cut corrugated board may arise when erecting a roof of complex shape or arranging junctions. The quality of metal processing will depend on the selected tool. It is important to maintain the original sheet geometry and not damage the protective layer.

When choosing a tool for cutting corrugated board, you need to take into account the planned amount of work and the availability of electricity at the facility. The hand tool will the best choice for a small amount of work.

1. Manual scissors for metal

Apply to curly cutting corrugated board or performing a small amount of work. The advantage of this tool is its low cost and the ability to form complex roofing elements. It is best to use metal scissors to cut across the corrugated board wave.

  • Right or left;
  • Length cutting edges;
  • Type of cut - straight or beveled;
  • The presence of a locking mechanism.

For processing, the material must be installed on a platform of several bars. The distance to the floor (ground) must be greater than the stroke of the scissors. First, a basting cut is made, its direction is checked and the absence of severe deformation of the sheet along the edges. Then the final processing of the corrugated board is performed.

The average cost of scissors for metal varies from 1800 to 4500 rubles. The price depends on the design, configuration of the blades and the brand of the manufacturer.

2. Nibblers

A more precise cut can be made with nibblers. Their principle of operation is based on the point breakdown of holes of small diameter. The closest analogue is an office puncher.

To work with nibblers, the sheet of corrugated board must be suspended. Using a drill, a hole is formed into which the working head of the scissors is inserted. Pressing the handle sets the punch in motion, which pierces the metal. After the hole is formed, the working part is shifted in the direction of the cut.

Characteristics of nibblers:

  • Punch dimensions;
  • Maximum and minimum allowable thickness of the cutting material;
  • Handle configuration.

The average cost of nibblers for cutting corrugated board is from 3,500 to 6,000 rubles.

3. Circular saw

Small hand circular saws suitable for straight cuts and large volumes of work. On the market there are models of various capacities, with power from the mains, and from the battery.

For cutting roofing sheeting you will need a finely toothed disc with victorious soldering. The rotation speed is set to the minimum so that overheating of the surface does not occur.

When choosing an electric circular saw, consider:

  • Motor power;
  • Dimensions of installed disks;
  • Elements for fixing the tool relative to the sheet;
  • The presence of a speed controller (not available on all models).

The price of manual circular saws ranges from 4,000 to 40,000 rubles.

4. Nibblers

Performing a lot of figured and non-standard cuts on a sheet of corrugated board is best done with nibbling electric shears. Their principle of operation is similar to the above-described manual nibblers. The difference lies in the way the cutting part of the punch moves. Translational movements are transmitted from the flywheel of the electric motor.

Work can be performed both on weight and on a fixed sheet. A hole is pre-formed for installing the cutting block. Then the tool is installed and turned on.

When choosing, you need to pay attention to the following parameters:

  • Rated power;
  • Cutting head stroke frequency;
  • Power type - battery or mains.

The main advantage of using electric nibblers is high productivity and accurate cutting.

The average price is from 6000 to 58000 rubles.

5. Nozzle on a drill

To optimize costs, instead of nibblers, you can purchase a special nozzle - "Cricket". With its help, you can form a cut that is complex in shape.

Installation is carried out directly on the chuck of an electric drill. The procedure for performing work is similar to the above-described punching tool. The nozzle "Steel beaver" has similar functions.

The average cost of these devices is 1400 rubles.

Why corrugated board cannot be cut with a grinder

According to the recommendations of manufacturers, it is impossible to process corrugated board with an angle grinder (grinder). But this only applies to cases where abrasive or diamond discs, cutting is performed at high speed.

The profiled sheet consists of a metal base, and a multi-layer protective coating that burns out under the influence of high temperature. Because of this, the following defects may appear:

  • Destruction of the protective layer- Subsequently, the metal base will begin to rust;
  • Loss of appearance- sparks can burn through the polymer or paintwork;
  • Cancellation of Warranty from the manufacturer.

In practice, you can do the work of cutting corrugated board with a grinder. But this requires a special toothed disc and a correctly selected number of revolutions. The rotation of the saw blade should remove material from the cut area mechanically, not thermally.

The professional flooring is a sheet from galvanized steel with a profile and a polymeric covering. By appearance has similarities with corrugated tin, but due to the polymer coating, the methods of cutting the considered roofing material and gestures are not the same. In order to figure out how to cut corrugated board, which method to choose for this, you need to familiarize yourself with the pros and cons of tools designed for cutting material.

  • Bulgarian (UShM);
  • electric hacksaw;
  • manual and electric jigsaw;
  • electric scissors;
  • hand circular saw.

Bulgarian or angle grinder (angle grinder)

Manufacturers of this roofing material do not recommend using a grinder for cutting it due to thermal effects on the polymer coating. However, even some corrugated board sellers use it as the most convenient cutting tool.

The durability of corrugated board depends on correct installation and choice of cutting tool

When using an angle grinder, certain rules must be observed:

  1. To work with profile sheets, you need to use a disc with carbide teeth instead of an abrasive wheel. Such disks are called - disks for cutting corrugated board.
  2. The thickness of the disc should be between 1 mm and 1.6 mm.
  3. To avoid corrosion, the saw cut is covered with high-quality paint of the appropriate color.

When using a special disc, the cut edges are very thin and neat.

Worth noting:
Some craftsmen, using a diamond-coated disc, cut a whole pack (10 sheets each).

When using a special disc designed for cutting corrugated board, the cut edges are smooth and neat

Using a grinder has its advantages and disadvantages. The advantage of using this tool is cutting speed and convenience. Its main drawback is thermal damage to the polymer and zinc coatings, burning the edges and burning the sheets with sparks flying from the grinder. In addition, hot metal particles adhering to the surface contribute to the formation of corrosion centers. Torn edges of sheets after cutting with a grinder require a lot of time to eliminate burrs. During operation, the tool creates a lot of noise. The use of a special disc designed for cutting corrugated board eliminates many negative points use of the grinder.

Pros and cons of a hacksaw for metal

When using this tool, the coating of the profile sheet is subjected to the least destruction. Decking does not offer much resistance when cutting, so even handmade does not take much effort and time, and the absence of thermal exposure contributes to the preservation of the coating of the material.

Advantages of cutting corrugated board with a hacksaw:

  • speed;
  • accuracy;
  • no significant effort required.

Cons of cutting sheets with a hacksaw:

  • when working with a hacksaw, even cuts are easily performed, but it is impossible to cut curved shapes;
  • when using a hacksaw for metal, you will need a special table for cutting.

A hacksaw is used to make straight cuts.

Jigsaw manual and electric

A jigsaw is a tool that, unlike a hacksaw, allows you to perform curved cutting of corrugated board. There is no significant difference between a conventional and an electric tool, but with the help of a jigsaw, work is done faster.

Manual and electric jigsaws are used to cut short corrugated board sheets. famous brands, the height of the corrugations of which is not more than 25 mm. Sheets can be cut lengthwise and across, while the sheet must be pressed so that it does not vibrate. Cutting of corrugated board is carried out at high speeds using the most fine-toothed metal saw.

It's important to know:
To increase the cutting speed, only the reciprocating mode is not enough; it is necessary that the saw blade slope be, as it were, longitudinal.

When cutting with an electric jigsaw, the edges burn, but not as strong as when using a grinder

Disadvantages of using a jigsaw:

  • the tool is not very convenient for cross-cutting sheets with a profile height of more than 25 mm;
  • not suitable for cutting thin strips;
  • the cutting speed is inferior to the grinder;
  • when working with an electric jigsaw, the edges are burned, but not as strong as when using a grinder;
  • unpleasant noise.

Features of the use of scissors for metal

Advantages of cutting a profile sheet with metal shears:

  • It is an indispensable tool for cutting thin strips.
  • With good sharpening, they do an excellent job with cutting across the wave.

Disadvantages of using the tool:

  • Metal scissors do not cut the corrugated board along the length, since the sheets have little flexibility in this direction.
  • The main disadvantage of cutting with such scissors is not very smooth cut edges.

Great tool for cutting thin strips

Electric scissors: efficient and convenient

Electric scissors are quite convenient to use

Hand circular saw

Sheets of corrugated board are also well cut with a hand-held circular saw, on which a fine-toothed disk with victorious teeth is installed. For convenience and quick work with the use of a circular, you will need an assistant. Feed when cutting should be minimal.

In order not to scratch the paint on the profiled sheets, a conductor is made from a strip of plywood about 1.5 m long and 300 mm wide. In its center along the entire strip, not reaching the ends, a groove is cut, which will be a guideline when cutting. Two points are marked on the sheet along the cut line, a jig is superimposed on them. The groove must match the marked points. After that, the sheet is well pressed and cutting is performed.

Circular with victorious teeth - an excellent tool for cutting corrugated board

It's important to know:
Cutting profiled flooring, which, unlike steel sheet, profile and anti-corrosion coating, requires taking into account these features of the material. Due to the sensitivity of the coating to high temperature, cold cutting methods are preferred. When choosing a tool, these conditions and limitations must be taken into account. For example, using plasma cutting, welding, autogenous and other similar tools does not meet the requirements for cutting corrugated board, as it is associated with exposure to high temperatures. It is also not recommended to use abrasive tools that tear and char protective covering.

Profiled flooring - aesthetic and durable material, which justifies its purpose, provided that it is correctly installed and the tool for cutting it is selected in accordance with the requirements of the manufacturer.

  • When building a roof from corrugated board, which has a complex shape, or when arranging junctions, as a rule, it becomes necessary to cut the roofing material. Quality of processing: the original geometry of the profiled sheet and the safety of the protective coating depend on the tool used.

    Everyone who is going to cut profiled sheeting is interested in how not to lose the consumer qualities of the processed products. To do this, first of all, you need to choose the right way to cut the corrugated board. An error can threaten, at the very least, with uneven cut edges. And if this can somehow be dealt with, then burnt zinc and polymer coating, as a result of overheating of the metal during the cutting process, is another matter.

    A tool for cutting corrugated board must meet certain requirements: do not contain abrasive substances, for example, a grinder or not be used in the process of cutting corrugated board high temperatures, as we say, autogenous.

    Metal profile manufacturers do not extend their warranty to cases where the profiled sheet was cut with the wrong tool, for example, if a grinder with a diamond or abrasive disc was used.

    Features of cutting steel profiled decking

    In fact, a metal profile is nothing more than a galvanized metal sheet, most often with a special coating, which has a special profile. The complexity of choosing how to cut a profile is due precisely to the presence of a protective layer, which should remain intact when cutting a profiled sheet with your own hands.

    The polymer layer does not differ in heat resistance, therefore, it is subject to thermal influences. Therefore, when choosing a cutting option, preference should be given to cold methods.

    In addition, it will be necessary to treat the cut points with compounds that will ensure their moisture resistance and corrosion resistance. Usually, a special factory dye is supplied with the material, which is used to paint over the edges left after cutting.

    On a note

    Even when cutting ordinary paint it is possible to achieve the proper degree of protection of the sheet against corrosion and various natural factors.

    How to cut a metal profile

    Let's single out possible options what and how to cut a metal profile: use

    • power tools;
    • hand tool;
    • machine tool equipment.

    Hacksaw

    The safest cutting option, which preserves the integrity of the decorative and protective layer, is to use a conventional hacksaw for metal due to the absence of thermal effects in this case. In addition, working with a hacksaw does not take much time, since corrugated sheets do not have much cutting resistance, and cutting does not require much effort.

    The main disadvantage of this method is the inability to use it when cutting complex shapes. The hacksaw is not suitable for processing sheets whose wave height exceeds 25 mm. Moreover, deep cuts cannot be made with this tool. Working with it requires a special table or supporting surface.

    On a note

    For cutting curvilinear complex shapes, a jigsaw (electric or manual) is more suitable.

    Is it possible to use a grinder

    Manufacturers strictly do not recommend processing profiled sheets with a grinder, better known in everyday life as a grinder. However, in practice, cutting with this tool is quite possible. Following certain rules, you can fully appreciate the obvious advantages of this method.

    It is important to understand that problems with this tool arise when using abrasive (diamond) discs and at high cutting speeds. That's why negative consequences material processing can be avoided if you work when cutting corrugated board with special disks with hard alloy teeth, which are located on the edge of the circle, and choose the right number of revolutions. These discs are quite thin, their thickness ranges from 1 mm to 1.6.

    Usage grinder allows you to significantly increase the speed of installation, especially since sheets can be cut at once in 10 pieces. True, some skills are required to cut the pack. This cutting method allows you to get the desired geometric configuration, including an arc with a certain radius.

    We note some features of working with a grinder:

    • when cutting, the sheet is placed on linings, placing them at a certain distance from the surface of the ground or table where the cut is performed. Otherwise, the disk will “cling” to it and either a cloud of dust will rise or the desktop will deteriorate;
    • if a small grinder is used to cut corrugated board with deep grooves, then cutting the sheet to the end will not work - it will have to be turned over to the other side. Therefore, when choosing a grinder, you should consider what the maximum diameter of the disk should be in order to complete the cutting of the sheet mounted on the linings in one pass.

    Scissors for corrugated board

    If you are looking for how to cut corrugated board, if you need to cut thin strips, then you need special scissors. The edges of the tool are perfectly sharpened, which allows cutting the sheet across the wave.

    Cutting the material along is hampered by the structural features of the metal profile, its greatest flexibility in the longitudinal direction.

    Scissors for cutting corrugated board make it easy enough to cut the material without damaging the protective coating. When using them, an uneven cut may remain, which, when installing the roof, will overlap the adjacent profiled sheet.

    Hand scissors

    They are used when it is necessary to cut a profiled sheet or the amount of work to be done is small. This tool, which is also inexpensive, allows you to form roofing elements complex configuration. Hand scissors different models differ in terms such as

    • cutting edge length;
    • blade configuration - it can be straight or beveled;
    • design, for example, the presence of a locking mechanism and more.

    When cutting, the material is installed on a platform, which is assembled from bars. Their number should ensure that the distance from the floor surface (ground) to the platform should be sufficient so as not to interfere with the scissors movement.

    To begin with, they perform a basting cut and check how deformed the edges of the sheet are.

    Only after that proceed to the final processing of corrugated board.

    Die-cutting scissors

    For greater cutting accuracy, nibblers are used. They work on the principle of an office puncher, punching pin holes with a small diameter. In the process of working with this tool, the metal profile is kept on weight. The working head of the tool is inserted into the hole, it is pre-formed using a drill. The metal is pierced with a punch. To set it in motion, a simple push on the handle is enough. After the formation of each hole, the working part of the scissors continues to move forward in the direction of the cut.
