Making a cork board with your own hands is not at all difficult, the main thing is to find a cork sheet of the required format for a reasonable price. Another option is a 2-mm roll cork, which is often sold in strips. It is enough to buy 3 meters, cut them into sheets and glue them together. The thickness of the resulting 6 mm sheet is also quite enough. Well, then it’s a matter of technology.

If you want a framed cork board, the easiest way is to simply insert the cork into the finished frame. To do this, pull out the old image, it will be the template. We place it on a sheet of cork, trace it around the perimeter and cut it out. And then we simply insert the cork into the frame, just don’t forget to remove the glass before doing this.

You just need to take a piece of plywood, stick foam rubber and/or padding polyester on the side that will be the front, then cover the plywood over the backing with fabric, securing it on the back side using a furniture stapler. The cork boards that you can buy for the price are not adequate. The price is very high (like many goods in Russia, especially in Moscow). At the same time, you can run into Chinese hackwork, when sheets of ordinary corrugated cardboard are packed in a beautiful aluminum frame, and on the outside there is a millimeter-thick cork sheet - just a disguise. The habit of well-made things and the reluctance to overpay prompted me to make a cork board myself.

I found an online store and bought a 60×90 mm cork sheet. Its thickness was 12 mm. Then I cut out a piece of hardboard of the same size - the back wall for the board. Although in my case it was possible not to do this, since I made the board non-removable - I screwed it tightly to the wall.

As a frame I used a regular plastic cable channel 16 mm wide. If you don’t use hardboard, you can take a cable channel even thinner, for example 10 mm. The cork sheet and hardboard fit perfectly into it. The corners of the cable channel were cut at 45°. It turned out to be a beautiful frame.

I didn’t bother with the fastening. Since the board is not for sale, and it has a permanent place in the apartment, it was decided to simply screw it to the wall. Which is what was done. To avoid pushing the plug too far, use a wide washer under the screw. For beauty, the screw heads are covered with yellow decorative overlays.

The result is a board like this. Durable, reliable, beautiful, “eternal”.
