Installing a double socket in two socket boxes. Double socket with grounding: instructions on how to install and connect into one socket box with your own hands. What are double or triple sockets?

Before you start repairs electrical appliance, you should remember simple safety rules.

First you need to find out what the reason for the replacement is. If the device simply doesn’t fit well into the wall, then just tighten the screws. A pungent odor, smoke or electric shock indicates that installing a new outlet is simply necessary.

Rules to avoid injury when changing sockets:

  1. Turn off the power to the entire apartment. This is quite easy to do. The shield is usually located in the corridor or entrance. If the meter is an old model and has plugs, then pressing them will cut off power to the entire apartment. Many homes now have electrical panels in the form of boxes. In this case, you need to find the levers on it and move them to the off position. Some craftsmen believe that they know all the wiring well and neglect it simple rule. Often the consequences in such cases are dire.
  2. Carry out all work during the daytime. The only exception is when repairs are necessary at a given time, and the normal functioning of the family depends on it. You can use a flashlight and rubber gloves. In other options, it is better to postpone dismantling until daylight hours.
  3. Both the installation tools and the socket itself must be of excellent quality.
  4. If the installation of electrical equipment is carried out for the first time, then you definitely need to study step by step instructions for replacement and installation. Detailed Guide described in this article.

Instructions for dismantling the socket

  1. Removing the protective cover of electrical equipment. To do this, you need to take a sacral or flat-head screwdriver. As a rule, there is always one screw and it is located between two holes for supplying electricity. If the socket is double, then there are two screws, unscrew both. Carefully remove the panel.
  2. The next step is to check for voltage. There are 2 types of wire: contact and neutral. We alternately connect the phase to each of them. Once you are completely sure that there is no voltage, you can continue working.
  3. Dismantling the mechanism. No matter which socket is on the outside, there are 2 screws on the internal equipment on 2 sides. They hold the legs that connect the two components. There are a couple more bolts at the top and bottom; they secure 2 wires. Unscrew all 4 bolts one by one. You can throw them away, because... Most likely they already scroll poorly. For new installation It's better to buy new screws.
  4. There should be 2 cables left in the wall hole. If they are bare, then you need to wrap them with electrical tape.
  5. The last step of dismantling will be to check the size of the new socket box. If it does not completely fit into the wall in depth, then you can trim it. This option is suitable for plastic samples. If the equipment is made of metal, you will have to deepen the hole in the wall.

It should be noted that during dismantling you may find that it is missing. Such sockets were often installed in old houses in order to save money.

Of course, this is wrong and you should not repeat the mistakes of others. In this case, there is no need to get lost, you just need to carefully disconnect the outer part.

Preparing a new outlet

A socket box is not always required during installation. This depends on the design of the new electrical equipment. Some modern designs use the central part itself as protection.

Let's take a closer look at this option.

The appearance of this option is different in that there is a special metal frame around it, and the mechanism is initially attached to the rim itself.

Such equipment is sold whole, i.e. the outer panel, frame and mechanism are interconnected. To begin installation, you need to disconnect the outer part from the protective frame. The fastening is carried out using bolts, so you just need to unscrew them.

All that remains is the bezel and the mechanism.

Upon closer examination of the mechanism, you can see that it no longer has 4, but 5 screws. The latter is located at the top between the two contacts. This bolt holds a special plate.

It presses the contact wires more firmly, which allows you to install the plug firmly. This also serves as additional protection against electrical shock.

Installation instructions

Installation of a European socket:

  1. Remove the electrical tape. We measure the depth of the hole intended for the cable. If the size does not match, you need to clean it protective layer rubber. The exposed cable should protrude quite slightly from the hole;
  2. Using the clamping screw, insert the first wire. The fixation must be very reliable. If this does not happen, the outlet will stop working quite quickly. To do this, the cable must be pulled carefully, it should not move from side to side;
  3. Repeat the same procedure with the second wire. We must not forget to be careful when exposing wires.
  4. If you purchased equipment with grounding, a special cable is required. It is not available in all homes. In new houses or apartments after renovation, such a cable is usually present. The cable is inserted into the upper hole of the mechanism. If the house is old and there is no grounding wire, then this step is not required. It should be taken into account that equipment without a grounding wire will not be able to supply electricity to all types of plugs. Therefore, it is worth thinking about carrying it out;
  5. The main network connection is complete. Next, you should install the mechanism in the hole in the wall and secure it using quick claws. A protective plastic panel is installed on the outside.

Installation requiring a new socket box:

  1. A new box is required when it is impossible to fix the tabs on the old socket. It was stated above that during dismantling it is checked whether the new box fits into the old recess. Therefore, at the installation stage new design should fit perfectly into the wall. In order for the socket box to hold tightly, you need to fill it with a special solution, such as glue.
  2. The fixation of the new mechanism depends on the design. These will be quick tabs or screws that are screwed to the box itself.
  3. Exposing the wires. This is done as in the first option.
  4. We connect the cables to the common mechanism. The protective frame is not removed and remains attached to the equipment.
  5. We fasten the screws on the top and sides. We install the outer plastic panel and frame. Installation is complete.

Features of installing a double socket

There are 2 mechanisms for connecting such equipment. The first implies 2 power outputs from one point. This is an extremely unsafe option.

This is due to the fact that the current remains unchanged, but the voltage and load increase. It follows from this that this option is short-lived. In addition, the mechanism has significantly fewer fasteners than the single version, so the contact with the fork will be weaker.

It is better to make double holes from different points. This means that outer panel will be double and connected together, but inside the power sources will be different.

In this case, the risk of voltage surges and electric shock is the same as with single sockets, i.e. almost equal to zero.

It is also necessary to take into account where exactly such a mechanism will be installed.

So, for example, when installing in concrete wall, a small number of mounting holes does not matter, because the base is very strong.

Walls made of chipboard, OSB or fiberboard will not be able to hold such equipment for a long time; over time, the mechanism will begin to fall out.

Required equipment

Socket

It is best to choose new samples. Namely European production. In them, the forks are held more firmly, and the structure itself is very stable. Devices made in Russia are also of good quality.

It should be noted that if the apartment has old Soviet-style sockets, then replacement must be carried out. Such equipment can fail at any time.

Socket box

Typically they have standard diameter 7 cm There are also larger options, but they are required for old-style sockets. Therefore, if drilling the wall is not included in the plans for repairing the socket, you need to measure the hole before purchasing the socket box.

The material used for using this electrical equipment varies. Is it plastic or metal. If the wall is concrete, brick or any other non-flammable material, then you can safely install metal socket boxes. Wood, plywood or plasterboard are very fragile. Therefore, to install an outlet in such rooms, you need to use a plastic base.

Screwdriver

Basic equipment for installation and dismantling. All sockets are attached with bolts and screws, which is why it is impossible to imagine such a repair without a screwdriver.

Insulating tape

Used as wire insulation to eliminate the risk of electric shock. Required for extending old wires.

Voltage indicator

It is necessary to check whether there is voltage left in the circuit. Both contacts need to be checked. If the indicator has not changed, then you can safely get to work.

Gloves

Both fabric and rubber samples are used. In the case where there is absolutely no voltage, you can use the first option. Rubber gloves are used if there is no voltage indicator available, because rubber practically does not conduct electric current. It is inconvenient to work in them.

  1. If there is no grounding cable in the house, you should not refuse to buy a mechanism with such a hole. They cost a little more. But at the same time, the structure is installed more firmly in the wall, which extends its service life. The contact with the plug is also much stronger;
  2. You should carefully measure the contact of the bare wire. If it comes out of the hole too much or, conversely, is not visible at all, then the socket will not last short term. You will have to repeat the procedure in the near future.
  3. If it is possible not to install a double panel from one point, then it is better to install two single mechanisms with different connections;
  4. When all the wiring in the house is changed, you should change the height of the sockets. It should be about 20 cm from the floor.

One of the types of sockets is double - in a single housing there are two electrical “points” of connection, which are powered from one group of wires: phase, neutral and ground. Sometimes novice electricians have minor difficulties connected with connecting wires. So that readers of "" know how to properly carry out electrical installation, further information will be provided for you simple circuit connecting a double socket with grounding and without grounding (in a two-wire network).

So, the first, and most important for you, diagram looks like this:

As you can see, everything is quite simple. The main thing is to follow the rules for connecting wires, which every electrician should know: “ground” is connected in the central terminal, zero is on the right, and phase is on the left. It should be noted that the grounding contact must be in the center, but the other two can be swapped, there is nothing wrong with that. The connection diagram for a double socket without grounding looks exactly the same, only the PE wire will not be connected, which means the central terminal must be free.

In the event that you decide to use not a double housing, but a dual version (do not be confused, now you will understand why), connecting the wires will look different. Double sockets (they can also be called assembled sockets) are two separate electrical points located in adjacent grooves and interconnected by jumpers (loops).

The connection diagram for double sockets with grounding looks like this:

If your house has a two-wire network (without ground), then in this case the connection of dual sockets should be carried out according to the diagram without grounding:

Please note that jumpers can only be used if not very powerful electrical appliances will be connected to the electrical points. Otherwise, you need to create for each product from distribution box.

That's all for the Dual Socket Wiring Diagram. As you can see, there is really nothing complicated about electrical installation work no, and even someone who has not previously connected with electricity can handle connecting two points! The only thing I would like to tell you finally is to buy quality products from manufacturers such as Legrand, ABB and Schneider electric. These companies produce products that can last a long time without causing accidents!

Modern life is difficult to imagine without electricity. And this applies not only to lighting, but also to connecting various household appliances and devices, charging devices and much more. An auxiliary device for this is the well-known socket. They are distinguished by purpose (electrical, telephone, computer and even water sockets), by the degree of security, by the specifics of installation (external and internal), and by design. But they all perform one function - quick-disconnect connection of devices and devices.

Connecting the outlet

Having decided on the choice of outlet and having laid the cable, you can begin installation. First of all, you should turn off the power supply to the conductor. This is done in apartment panel, by turning off the machine.

Required tools:

  • Pliers;
  • Screwdriver set.

Before connecting and installing, use a screwdriver to unscrew the bolt and remove the front part of the socket. On the base, we find conductive elements and loosen the bolts on the lemmas.

Before starting work, use an indicator screwdriver or other measuring instrument check that power wire de-energized.

Using a knife or pliers, strip the insulation from the ends of the wire by about 8 - 10 mm. L – phase (black or white), N – zero ( blue) and PE – earth (yellow – green).Insert the wires into the terminals, phase and neutral - side with sockets, ground - central contact. We align the base of the socket horizontally and fix it to the socket box with mounting bolts. Install the front part.

How to connect several outlets in a row

Connecting several sockets to one cable is called a “daisy chain” connection. This connection involves connecting several elements of one group (in our case, sockets) into one block. It is worth considering that connecting sockets with a “daisy chain” is suitable for powering electrical appliances and low-power equipment. This type of connection allows you to connect two or more outlets.

List of tools for installation and connection:

  • Screwdrivers;
  • Pliers;
  • Hammer;
  • Level.

According to the location of the power cable, we drill niches in the wall for socket boxes and first level them. After installing the socket boxes, prepare the connecting jumpers (use a cable of the same cross-section as the supply cable). We connect the phase and neutral wires to the terminals of the first socket, as well as similar wires of the “loop” going to the next socket.

How many sockets can be connected to one wire? Reliability directly depends on the number of elements. The fewer there are, the more reliable the design.

And only now, taking into account all the pros and cons, can you rationally approach this issue and understand whether this type of connection is right for you.

Connection diagram for single-key socket-switch unit

Before the advent of combined socket-switch units, each element was installed separately, which complicated not only the connection diagram, but also the operating time. Of course, separate connections have their advantages. But thanks to its design, the combined block helps achieve high efficiency and ease of use.

The installation of the device is also simplified (no need to lay extra wires and drill additional niches for socket boxes). The disadvantage of such units is the impossibility of replacing an individual element (if a socket or switch fails, the entire device will need to be replaced).

Connection tools:

  • Pliers;
  • Assembly or stationery knife;
  • Screwdrivers.

To connect the unit with grounding, you will need a cable with four cores. First, we install the cable and socket box into the wall. We insert the wire into the electrical outlet and distribution box and strip the ends. Now the phase (black or white) wire and the neutral (usually blue) wire need to be connected to the side terminals of the socket with sockets, and the ground wire (yellow-green) to the central terminal. We connect the remaining wire to the switch terminal.

Be sure to make sure that all wires in the block and junction box are connected correctly. It is unacceptable to connect two contacts with different polarities.

We connect the wires in the junction box. We connect the phase wire going to the socket with the phase of the power cable. We also connect the neutral wire from the outlet and the neutral going to the lighting fixture (chandelier or lamp) to the neutral of the power cable. We connect the phase wire from the switch to the phase going to the lighting fixture. We screw the front part of the block.

If you do not use clamp terminals when connecting wires in the junction box, securely insulate the exposed contacts with electrical tape.

Correct socket connection diagram (video)

It is always better to leave work related to electricity to professionals. But there are situations when you need to do something yourself, without having experience in this area. Use the tips of the masters, study the connection diagrams, and you will easily cope with the task.

A double socket can be a real lifesaver in a room where several people work. household appliances. This device has two connectors where you can connect a couple of pieces of equipment at once. You can connect and install the socket yourself if you know all the installation features.

Types of double sockets

An electrical outlet is a device necessary for connecting electrical appliances to the network. The product consists of a housing (cover) that isolates the working part from external influence, and the main part with the base and contacts.

Sockets can be not only single, but also double, and even multi-socket, depending on the number of plug connectors. It is a mistake to think that doubling single sockets means getting a double one; in fact, only a monolithic device is considered two-socket.

The disadvantage of double products is that the electric power is divided into two parts, which should be taken into account when connecting two electrical appliances at the same time.

There are different types double sockets according to modifications:

  1. Closed. The openings of the device are covered with special curtains, which is convenient for apartments where small children live.
  2. Open. Externally, they look like familiar sockets without closing curtains.

Devices can be with or without grounding. If grounding contacts are provided, this will protect connected devices from voltage failures. There are individual species sockets for installation outdoors and in rooms with high humidity- waterproof. The former are protected from dirt and dust, the latter are protected from water penetration.

Double products are:

  • invoices (external);
  • hidden (internal);
  • standard;
  • polar;
  • programmed, etc.

Features of installing a socket with two sockets

Before connecting the device, you need to determine where the phase and zero are located. The easiest way is to study the markings of the wires: phase - brown, black, white or red, zero - blue, white-blue, ground wire - yellow-green.

If you don’t trust the markings, you can independently check the location of the phase and zero. You can do it like this:

  1. Wear rubber gloves.
  2. Apply a special tester screwdriver to each wire.
  3. Evaluate the signal from the screwdriver - the light will light up in phase.

Before installing a double socket, you need to de-energize the wiring - turn the switch on the machines or one (necessary) machine to the “off” position. Next, in the place where the product will need to be placed, the voltage is re-checked using a special screwdriver.

There are some features of installing a double socket as opposed to a single socket. The double socket has one socket box (cup) with two separated terminals, 1 mounting compartment for wires.

The installation diagram is as follows: a grounding cable should be connected to the central or upper terminal, with the phase on the right and zero (neutral) on the left.

You only need to choose a cable from the same material and with the same cross-section as the main wiring. If you plan to install 2 socket boxes, you will have to drill holes in the wall for them with a drill, maintaining the required distance for the holes. Before installation, markings should be applied to the walls if old socket was absent here.

Tools and materials

The craftsman will need a Phillips and flat-head screwdriver, pliers, a device for stripping the braid (for example, a stationery knife), and a level. If you plan to install the device in a new location, you will need a hammer drill to drill drywall, concrete or wood.

To install the socket, additional materials are required:

  • insulating tape;
  • socket box;
  • self-tapping screws

A cable made of the appropriate material will be needed if you have to make a new outlet rather than replace the old one. If possible, it is recommended to lay the wires in corrugation - this is an additional fire safety measure.

Double socket installation sequence

When the connection diagram for a double socket is correctly determined, the location is selected, and the materials are prepared, you can begin installation.

When the product is a solid block, it can even be placed on former place single device, slightly expanding the size of the niche in the wall. This will not cause the need for repairs, but will require careful gluing of the wallpaper.

Removing the old socket

Once again making sure that the machines in the apartment are turned off, you can begin to remove the old outlet.

The procedure is as follows:

  1. Unscrew all the screws that secure the product.
  2. Remove the outer cover of the old device.
  3. Unfasten the wires, unscrew the fixing tabs.

The new product that needs to be built in must also be disassembled. The front panel must be carefully unscrewed from the working part.

New socket box for double socket

You should pay close attention to the quality of the new socket - it should be high enough, and in this case you can be sure of clear fixation and normal operation of the socket.

The socket box is secured to the wall with side holders, which are sold separately or come in one set. Cheaper socket boxes are attached not with special claws, but with screws.

The procedure for mounting a socket box is simple. The screws on it need to be tightened clockwise, the holders will move apart to the right and left, securing the product itself. But as you work, the glass always weakens, so best option- additionally secure it with alabaster.

Instructions for action:

  1. Dilute dry alabaster powder (you can replace it with cement) to the consistency of sour cream. You need to take a small portion of the powder, since the composition instantly hardens.
  2. Place the mixture in the place of the future socket box, slightly wetting the niche with water.
  3. After 20 minutes, you can attach the socket box to the hole in the wall.
  4. Level the position of the glass using a hammer and level so that it is perfectly level.
  5. Next, fill the gaps between the product and the wall with a new portion of alabaster.
  6. Remove excess mass with a knife.
  7. Secure the glass with screws, making sure not to tighten them too much - this could cause the plastic to crack.

Preparing to connect

To ensure the correct two-pole connection of the wires, you need to open the cable. A sharp knife will help you quickly remove the outer insulation from the desired cable. You should not leave the supply of wires too long, otherwise it will create inconvenience when connecting the outlet.

It is considered optimal to expose the wires from the insulation by 1 cm. The total supply of wires usually does not exceed 12 cm. Shorter wires can be extended. Next, you are allowed to proceed to the most important stage - connecting a double socket with grounding.

How to connect wires

On at this stage You need to clearly identify the wires present in the working part of the product, identifying the zero, phase and ground wire in them by color.

The procedure is as follows:

  1. Loosen the bolts on the terminals intended for connecting wires.
  2. Insert the socket wires into the contacts.
  3. Carefully tighten the bolts with a screwdriver.

The main point is to connect the grounding cable to the corresponding wire in the product (there is always a “ground” symbol at its location). It is important not to connect the phase and neutral to one contact - it will happen short circuit.

Product Installation

Careful laying of the wires in the glass is very important: if this is not done, sooner or later the cable insulation will be damaged and the operation of electrical appliances may be impaired. The wires must be folded without sharp bends. They should not be located in the socket directly under the mounting bolts.

At the end of the work, the socket must be deepened inward and secured with fastening paws or screwed with self-tapping screws. Then you need to give it a level position using a level and connect the caliper to the installation box block.

They put it last decorative overlay - new socket ready with two nests!

A double socket is 2 sockets united by one monolithic body. The socket has two plug connectors, but is installed in one standard socket box. How to install such an outlet yourself?

Why double socket?

Installing a double socket is often chosen for financial reasons - it is much cheaper than buying several single sockets.

Double outlets install more firmly into the wall and can be more aesthetically pleasing than single outlets mounted here and there.

Important! The use of double sockets is possible only if certain rules are observed: the total current when connecting any devices should not exceed 10 or 16 Amperes.

Dual Socket Installation Tools

To install a double socket you will need the following set of tools:

A screwdriver that matches the screws that secure the socket

Screwdriver coated with dielectric

Cable (if you are installing an outlet and not replacing it)

Hammer (also - if you need to install the socket in a new location)

Before you start connecting

Before installing a double socket, it is necessary to carry out a number of preparatory work:

Select installation location

Select suitable sockets

Installation process

The first thing to do is to protect yourself by turning off the power to the outlet.

But even after turning off all the circuit breakers in the electrical panel, you need to make sure that there is no voltage in the outlet. To do this, you can use a multimeter.

Now you can start disassembling the socket. To do this, tighten the mounting screws and remove the cover.

The socket mechanism will open, with which you have to work:

Now you need to use a knife to expose the wires in the socket box by 10 mm.

Here they are in front of us:

Connecting a double socket

In this case, two sockets will be connected to one wiring line, so for the first socket you will need 6 wires, and for the second, a cable of 3 main wires will be laid.

The connection occurs according to this scheme:

That is, the first socket will receive voltage and transmit it through a loop to the second, parallel socket.

When connecting wires, you need to focus on the color marking; usually the black wire is phase, blue is zero, and yellow-green is ground. Phase and neutral must be connected to the outer terminals, and ground to the central one.

Phase, neutral and grounding can be determined using color markings adopted according to the standard:

You can also use an indicator screwdriver.

It is very important to connect the wires to the outlet terminals correctly.

The figure shows that the power wires must be connected to different terminals. Otherwise, a short circuit will occur and the wiring will burn out.

It is also necessary that when connecting the second wire to the main terminal, the material of the connected wires is the same, so that the process of metal oxidation does not begin.

Important! Complete electrical safety is ensured if the grounding wire is connected to the sockets using a branch wire, that is, it remains unbroken.

If everything is correct, then you can tighten the screws.

Now you can proceed to securing the socket. You should align the mechanism and securely secure it in the “glass”, using the mounting screws and tightening them firmly on the sides of the socket.

Advice! In order to align the socket and correctly install the decorative trim, you need to use a guide, a marker and a pencil, draw an even strip and align yourself with it when attaching the socket.

Once the mechanism is secured, you can apply the cover plate and tighten the screws.

Important! The faceplate is quite fragile, so when tightening the screws it is important not to over tighten it to avoid cracking it.

All that remains is to turn on the voltage and check the functionality of the outlet.

If you have certain skills, installing a double socket yourself is not that difficult. True, the process requires care and compliance with safety precautions.

How to connect a double (double) socket

For your attention detailed step by step photo instructions – how to connect a double (double) socket.

A double or dual socket is a monoblock consisting of two plug connectors for connecting plugs of electrical appliances, which is installed in one seat (in one socket) and requires a standard set of wires for connection - phase, working zero and ground (protective zero).

Double sockets are used most often in cases where a single socket is no longer enough to connect several consumers, and for some reason it is not possible to add another socket. You need to use such sockets with extreme caution, monitor the power of the devices connected to it so that their total current does not exceed 10A-16A (depending on the characteristics of the specific model of the dual socket).

Connecting a double socket Let's look at the example of Schneider Electric mechanisms of the Sedna model.

1. Turn off the electricity! To do this in the electrical panel, you need levers circuit breakers switch to the “off” state, usually this is the position in which the lever is pointing down. Which machine needs to be turned off, if they are not signed, is determined empirically by turning them off one by one and checking, for example with an indicator screwdriver, for the presence of voltage in the socket wiring. As a last resort, turn everything off. But then be sure to make sure that there is no electric current, at the installation location!

2. We disassemble the socket; to do this, unscrew the mounting screws using a screwdriver, as shown in the image below. As a result of this, we separate the front panel from the double socket mechanism.

3. Using pliers or side cutters, shorten the wires in the socket so that their length is approximately 10cm. Then we remove 8-10mm of insulation from the ends, and, for ease of connection, we bend the wires as shown below.

4. Place the wires into the screw terminals of the dual socket mechanism, the location of which is indicated in the image below. We place the phase wire (we have brown) and the working zero (we have blue) in different outer terminals, and the protective zero - ground (we have yellow-green) in the central one. And use a screwdriver to tighten the screws.

5. Having leveled the double socket mechanism, we fix it in the socket box using fastening screws located on the sides (see figure below).

6. Last step- This is the installation of the front panel. We apply it to the mechanism already fixed in the wall and tighten the fastening screws. Be careful not to overtighten them as the bezel may collapse.

7. We turn on all the machines in the electrical panel and test the operation of the double socket. Installation is complete.

How to connect a double (double) socket

Detailed step-by-step photo instructions - how to connect a double (double) socket. A double or double socket is a monoblock consisting of two plug connectors for connecting plugs of electrical appliances, which is installed in one seat (in one socket) and requires a standard set of wires for connection. We will consider connecting a double socket using the example of Schneider Electric mechanisms of the Sedna model.

How to properly connect a double socket into one socket box with your own hands?

Replacing or installing an outlet in most cases does not require calling a technician to your home. It is enough to familiarize yourself with the theory and safety rules to get started and complete it quite successfully.

Often in the kitchen or in any other room where several household appliances are used simultaneously, there is a catastrophic lack of a free outlet.

The problem can be solved by installing a double socket.

What do you need to know before connecting a double socket?

Before starting work, it is necessary to determine what phase and zero are in electrics, i.e. wire affiliation. To do this you will need a tester screwdriver and rubber gloves.

The cover of the old socket is removed and measurements are taken using a tester. In phase, the indicator will light up, and the neutral wire will be indicated by the absence of a light signal. Of course, there is color marking of cables, but it’s better to be safe.

Then the line must be de-energized through the meter - this is a basic safety rule. The machine levers are switched to the off position! This is the bottom position of the switches.

The voltage at the installation site of the double socket is checked again.

Before installing a double socket, you will need the following tools and materials:

  • insulating tape;
  • sharp knife for stripping wires;
  • Phillips and flat head screwdriver;
  • pliers.

Double sockets are single terminal devices equipped with distribution strips.

The cable is of the same cross-section as the main wiring in the room. The materials must also be the same. If the eyeliner is done aluminum wire, it is also used when connecting sockets.

Use of the device requires caution. The total load on this type of outlet should not exceed 10-16 A.

Installation steps - do everything in order

The double socket connection diagram consists of the following steps:

  1. On the wall is selected suitable place. Typically, the outlet is mounted near an electrical distribution box or a wire running in the wall.
  2. Its base is outlined with a pencil. At the marked place, using a hammer drill, a recess is made that is sufficient to fit the inner housing (glass) of the socket.
  3. A hole is made in the glass through which the wires are brought out, and then it is fixed with cement or alabaster. The solution is given time to harden. You can also secure the glass using dowels, which will speed up installation time.
  4. The socket is unscrewed using a screwdriver. The outer panel is separated from the inner mechanism.
  5. The wires located in the glass (socket box) are shortened with pliers. Using a knife, the insulation is removed from each wire to a length of 0.8 to 1 centimeter. The edges of the cores are folded up for ease of assembly.

The presence of a collector is the main difference between such generators and units with alternating current. Electric motors, devices in which electrical energy is converted into mechanical energy, differ according to a similar principle.

The phase wire is brown or red (optionally, black or white), the neutral is blue or blue-white, and the ground is always yellow-green. Typically, this type of socket does not have a top or bottom (the contacts are on both sides).

On this installation work are completed. If the quality of the installation is in doubt, you should contact a professional electrician. He will inspect your work and make sure that operation will not lead to electric shock.

How to connect a double socket into one socket box - do-it-yourself installation

Installing a double socket in one socket box sometimes becomes an urgent need. How to cope with the task yourself, without resorting to the help of an electrician?

How to install a double socket with your own hands - step-by-step instructions

A double socket can be a real lifesaver in a room where several household appliances are running. This device has two connectors where you can connect a couple of pieces of equipment at once. You can connect and install the socket yourself if you know all the installation features.

Types of double sockets

An electrical outlet is a device necessary for connecting electrical appliances to the network. The product consists of a body (cover), which isolates the working part from external influences, and a main part with a base and contacts.

There are different types of double sockets according to modifications:

  1. Closed. The openings of the device are covered with special curtains, which is convenient for apartments where small children live.
  2. Open. Externally, they look like familiar sockets without closing curtains.

Devices can be with or without grounding. If grounding contacts are provided, this will protect connected devices from voltage failures. There are separate types of sockets for installation outdoors and in rooms with high humidity - waterproof. The former are protected from dirt and dust, the latter are protected from water penetration.

Double products are:

  • invoices (external);
  • hidden (internal);
  • standard;
  • polar;

Before installation, markings should be applied to the walls if the old outlet was not there.

A cable made of the appropriate material will be needed if you have to make a new outlet rather than replace the old one. If possible, it is recommended to lay the wires in corrugation - this is an additional fire safety measure.

Double socket installation sequence

When the connection diagram for a double socket is correctly determined, the location is selected, and the materials are prepared, you can begin installation.

When the product is a solid block, it can even be placed in the former place of a single device, slightly expanding the size of the niche in the wall.

But as you work, the glass always weakens, so the best option is to additionally secure it with alabaster.

At this stage, you need to clearly identify the wires present in the working part of the product, identifying the zero, phase and ground wire in them by color.

It is important not to connect the phase and neutral to one contact - a short circuit will occur.

The last thing to put on is the decorative cover - the new socket with two sockets is ready!
