Bench from a sawn old tree. Do-it-yourself wooden bench: a few simple solutions. General requirements for wood

All photos from the article

Garden furniture is most often just bought. Finished. And if you want it to be original, and at the same time, after uprooting the site, a few logs remain? Or did a couple of boards not come in handy when building a barn? The topic of our article is a do-it-yourself wooden bench.

Option 1: a bench made of sawn logs

Material

  • Several thin skinned logs;
  • Two galvanized threaded studs M10 - M14;
  • Four nuts with wide washers;
  • A handful of screws about 100 millimeters long.

Appearance

  • Cut the short legs so that the horizontal support of the seat is screwed to the horizontal surface with screws. In long logs that combine the function of the back and legs, make cuts of the appropriate shape. (See also the article.)
  • Pull the legs crosswise with studs, having previously drilled holes. The screws for this connection are not strong enough.
  • You will need to rip cut three logs. One of them will go to those same horizontal supports.

Tip: A circular saw will help you cut evenly. After a chain and even more so a hand saw, you will have to spend a lot of time aligning the cut.

  • The photo is hard to see the slopes between the legs and the central horizontal jumper. They are necessary: without them, the bench can simply fold to the side.

Option 2: a bench made of thick logs

Material

  • Logs with a diameter of 30 centimeters;
  • Solid wood for making dowels.

Appearance

  • Logs are connected only and exclusively by dowels. Impregnation of pins with drying oil or a synthetic analogue is required.
    Diameter - not less than 20 millimeters. The material is solid wood without knots.
  • Despite the abundance of synthetic adhesives, organic adhesives remain the best for wood: casein and albumin (based on milk and egg proteins). Not only dowels are smeared with glue, but also the planes of cuts of logs.
  • The thickness of the logs will not allow moisture fluctuations to lead the wood; however, drying oil or aquatex (hydrophobic primer for wood) will allow them to retain their appearance much longer.

Option 3: stump bench

Material

  • Two thick stumps sticking out of the ground at a distance of no more than two meters;
  • A wide board with a thickness of at least 50 millimeters.

Please note: instead of a wide board, you can make a seat by typing it from a bar of small width. 50x50 millimeters would be a reasonable minimum.

Appearance

  • For fresh stumps with hard wood, nails are also suitable - two hundred. However, here, too, the best option for attaching the seat is solid wood dowels and albumin glue.
  • It is desirable to proliferate a seat assembled from a bar even before assembly. The bars must be protected from moisture and from those sides with which they are adjacent to the stumps and to each other.

Option 4: bench around a tree

materials

  • A tree growing in front of the house with a thick trunk;
  • Board;
  • Black self-tapping screws 75 - 100 millimeters long.

Appearance

You can calmly relax in the shade of trees in summer or bask in the sun on a cool autumn day on a wooden bench installed in the garden with your own hands. In modern design, garden furniture is one of the full-fledged elements of landscape design.

Taking into account the decorative value of wooden garden benches, you should try to choose a model that will harmoniously fit into the environment. For a young garden or summer cottage without large trees, it is better to choose light furniture options on decorative thin metal legs, simple benches and benches that are laconic in shape. If the garden is old and well-groomed, then Provence-style seats are suitable - styled as antique furniture with wooden decor.

An overgrown summer cottage with an imitation of a wild natural thicket can decorate benches, assembled from natural material with my own hands - fin, snags, lightly processed branches. A bench made of logs hewn with an ax will look very successful in such a garden. Such seats should be installed in places hidden from the eyes: among flowering bushes or around the corner of the path.

When choosing a place to install a bench for a summer residence, you need to pay attention to the views that will open up to the eyes of those sitting on it.

It is undesirable to place a shop so as to contemplate an unsightly fence or a compost heap. Place it near a pond or flower bed, under a branchy old tree.

Then the rest will be complemented by the pleasure of the smell of flowers and the play of light on the water, the rustle of leaves and coolness in the shade.

Various types of benches can also be installed on the veranda near the house, in the recreation area by the pool or outdoor hearth. They will also find application under a canopy in the garden. In each case, you must adhere to the general rules for the compatibility of a wooden product with the general style of the site. How to make original benches from pallets, see this video:

As a material for garden furniture, wood is traditionally chosen - an easy-to-work material that allows you to implement almost any idea. Currently, along with the usual board and bar, you can use moisture-resistant varieties of thick plywood. From durable and aesthetic sheet material, you can assemble structures that are suitable for modern design landscapes and for an ordinary courtyard that does not have certain style features.

If wooden benches are made in a stationary version, then care should be taken to protect them from moisture. A variety of impregnations and paints and varnishes can serve this purpose. Outdoor furniture will have to be covered with paint or varnish every 1 - 2 years as the protective layer wears out. Such measures can significantly extend the life of a wooden structure.

How to build benches yourself?

In order to build a comfortable bench with your own hands, you need to make a sketch of it. There are optimal sizes of garden furniture that must be observed in this case:

  • seat height above the floor - 40 - 50 cm;
  • width (depth) of the bench - 50 - 55 cm;
  • backrest height above the bench - 35 - 50 cm.

These dimensions allow a person of average height to sit comfortably, lean on the back, and get up easily. If the build of the owner is very different from the average, then the dimensions of the bench will have to be selected individually. The back is usually done with a slight tilt back. For more information about wooden benches, see this video:

For woodworking, you will need the following tools:

  • hacksaw or jigsaw;
  • drill and screws, or hammer and nails;
  • roulette;
  • pencil.

Carpentry glue can be useful for assembling complex-shaped products. They fasten parts that are connected using the tongue-and-groove method or a furniture dowel (dowel). For plywood products, long threaded metal studs and nuts are useful.

A simple bench for a garden or a bath

Even a novice master will be able to make the simplest wooden bench with his own hands. Such benches can be seen in abundance at the gates of village courtyards, they can be placed near the beds, in a bathhouse or utility room. They do not differ in sophistication and decorativeness, but they can perform the functions of garden furniture quite successfully. To make a bench, you need a board 2-2.5 cm thick and about 20 cm wide.

Benches for a bath or garden are easy to make

According to the drawing in fig. 1. you need to cut out the following parts:

  • seat - 1 piece;
  • apron - 2 parts, the length of each is 10 cm shorter than the seat;
  • legs - 2 parts.

Cut off the corners on one side of each piece of the apron, as shown in the diagram. Measure from the edges of the element for the legs 2 - 2.5 cm on each side in the upper part, cut a groove 10 cm long. If desired, cut holes for the handles on the seat of the bench. To learn how to make a bench with your own hands, see this useful video:

Assemble the product in the following sequence:

  1. Drill holes for self-tapping screws in the plane of the apron board at a distance of 10 cm from each end. Place the board in the groove on the legs and screw the screws through the holes into the edge of the board. Attach the 2nd leg pattern on the other side of the apron.
  2. Repeat all steps and attach the apron to the other side of the bench base.
  3. At a distance of 15 cm from each end of the seat, make several holes in the plane of the board. Lay the part on top of the base and attach with self-tapping screws, screwing them into the end of the leg part. For strength, you can make additional holes along the length of each side of the seat and attach it to the apron boards.

Treat the surface of the product with coarse sandpaper to remove burrs. If necessary, paint the bench to your taste.

A simple bench with a back

Another simple design is shown in Fig. 2. To make a bench with a backrest with your own hands, you will need 2 pieces of log about 25 cm long, boards for the back and seat, and 5x5 cm bars for the backrests. If you want the seat to be a little higher, you can take 4 pieces of logs or timber and lay them on top of each other, fastening them with dowels.

The back is screwed on with screws from the back side

Making a bench is very easy. To ensure that there are no nuts and nail heads on the surface of the product, fasten parts to dowels and glue. The back can be fastened with self-tapping screws from the wrong side so that they do not drill through the board.

For the manufacture of dowels, wooden rounded rods are needed (a thin handle for a garden tool is suitable). Drill 2 holes in the log with a diameter equal to the thickness of the dowel. Focusing on their location, make reciprocal recesses in the underside of the seat. The work must be done very carefully so that during assembly it is not necessary to adjust parts of the bench. For more information on making a bench with a back, see this video:

Lubricate a piece of wood for the dowel with glue and insert it into the hole on the log so that a small fragment remains on the outside. Its length should be equal to the depth of the recess drilled in the seat (Fig. 3). Lubricate the dowels with wood glue and put a board on them. Do the same with another piece of log.

Cut the bars of the desired length for the manufacture of backrest racks. Screw with screws to the ends of the logs. Drill 2 holes in the upper part for attaching the backrest. The distance between the holes should be less than the width of the board. Screw the screws through the holes into the board. The finished bench can be painted or coated with a clear varnish.

Stylish bench with a back

Making garden furniture according to the proposed project is not difficult at all. The basis of the design is porcelain stoneware or concrete slabs and boards 2–2.5 cm thick. If desired, heavy materials can be replaced with light plywood of the same thickness. A wooden bench with a back, it will turn out to be mobile.

Stylish bench features an interesting back

The following details will be required:

  • squares 50x50 cm for legs (plywood or plate) - 12 pcs.;
  • boards or plywood rectangles 15x200 cm - 5 pcs.;
  • back support 15x65 cm - 4 pcs.;
  • crossbars 15x17.5 cm - 2 pcs.;
  • threaded rod M16 55 cm - 4 pcs.;
  • nuts and washers M16 - 8 pcs.;
  • self-tapping screws.

Plywood will first have to be cut into fragments of the required shape and size. If boards and slabs are used, then this step can be skipped. How to make an original shop with your own hands, see this video:

Drill 2 holes at an equal distance from the edges in the upper part of the square parts of the legs. Adjusting the long parts of the seat as in the diagram (Fig. 4), make 2 holes in them on each side. Screw a nut onto one end of each rod and put on a washer. Alternating long and square elements, assemble the bench. Tighten the nuts on the other side of the studs.

This bench can also be used without a back.

But for convenience, you can do it. To do this, fasten 4 boards 15 x 65 cm to the screws from the inside of the back of the bench. Glue or put crossbars on the dowels between them.

Decorative benches made from natural materials

Raw wood is an excellent material for garden furniture. The bench, similar to the throne of the forest king, fits perfectly into the landscape, imitating wildlife. Such seats are very appropriate near rockeries or old trees with a spreading crown in an overgrown corner of the garden. Rustic benches work well with wild stone picnic areas or sandstone and boulder barbecues. The original shop in this video:

The simplest option for sitting from logs is a monastery bench. For its manufacture, an untreated log must be cut in half lengthwise. Legs are made from short segments, laying them with a saw cut on the ground. The long halves of the logs are fastened to the dowels from above, saw cut up. To prevent the bench from staining clothes, it is better to choose hardwood logs and dry them well before assembling furniture.

To remove splinters and burrs, the saw cut plane must be smoothly planed with a planer and treated with emery cloth.

A complicated version of such furniture is a bench made of logs, supplemented by a back with their own hands (Fig. 5). To attach the back, you need wooden or metal supports and a crossbar. These parts can be made from thick tree branches, bars, steel strips. Fastening is carried out on self-tapping screws of sufficient length or on nails.

Examples of original wooden benches

A log bench can be made differently (Fig. 6). The photo clearly shows the grooves in the upper part of a thick log sawn in half. In the grooves you need to insert a board with a thickness of at least 4 cm or a beautiful saw cut of a tree trunk. If desired, an exclusive piece of furniture made with your own hands can be supplemented with a backrest. Supports for it must be attached to the inside of the legs on a flat surface. The crossbar can be a thick branch or the same cut of wood as for sitting.

Chopped table with benches

A set of a table and benches will be convenient in the country in the dining area or near the barbecue (Fig. 7). It is not difficult to make this if you know the basic techniques for making wooden log cabins. To begin with, 2 logs of approximately the same thickness are placed on the ground. With an ax, you need to carve out semicircular recesses (bowls) at the ends of the logs. The size of the bowls will depend on the diameter of the log that is selected for the seats. This trunk needs to be cut along. An example of chopped furniture in this video:

In the middle of the 2 lower logs, 1 more cup must be cut out to install the transverse support. It may not be a very thick log. Its length should be such that the ends protrude beyond the side surfaces of the trunks.

Shorter logs are needed for the base of the table. Their length is approximately equal to the desired width of the countertop.

In the middle of each trunk, you need to carve out notches that are suitable in size for the thickness of the crossbar. Lay the parts of the log house cups down, covering them with a transverse log. From the boards make a countertop and fix it with nails. Lay the halves of the logs on the places intended for them.

How to make benches from branches or fin?

This is the most creative activity. Having found beautiful snags and polished driftwood in the forest or on the shore of a reservoir, you can make furniture of amazing beauty (Fig. 8). Each such shop is unique, because it is difficult to find 2 identical branches. Therefore, there can be many solutions for how to make a bench from snags.

The main thing for all such products is one thing - the fitting of parts is carried out right on the spot under the already finished legs, seats, backs. The branches should intertwine harmoniously, forming a structure that can support the weight of an adult. To connect non-standard parts, you can use both self-tapping screws and nails. The most reliable is the connection to dowels and glue. Where a snug fit of the pieces of the structure is desired, snags can be hewn with an ax.

The most original benches can be made from branches and a fin.

Such decorative benches can even be used to decorate rooms in a chalet or rustic style. They are wonderfully combined with wild stone trim. They will also look harmonious in the garden among flowering bushes or near a pond.

The variety of models of benches that you can make with your own hands from wood is limitless.

The main thing in the manufacture of furniture made of wood is the careful fitting of parts.

Then the finished product will turn out neat, without distortions. Treated with moisture-proof impregnations and varnished or painted, any seat in the garden will last for many years.

Benches and benches in the country and in the garden are primarily a place of rest. But just putting up a bench is not interesting. After all, you can create a beautiful corner. In order not just to relax, but to enjoy nature and the fruits of your labor. There are many interesting ideas. Moreover, the simplest designs are often played up, such that any person whose hands grow from their shoulders can make these benches with their own hands.

Photo of original benches (ideas for summer cottages and gardens)

Everyone knows what ordinary benches look like - they have seen it more than once. But the usual - the simplest - something does not want to. Especially if you have already begun the process of decorating the site or are just planning. Why not start from the bench? And there and other decorations will catch up. It's worth just getting started.

In the garden or near the house, I want to have more greenery: beautiful and different flowers. - that's good, but why not combine them with a bench.

What could be easier? Two wooden boxes in which flowers are planted and between them a pair of planed and polished boards. You can put this bench near the wall, and fill a couple of long boards on the wall - there will be a back.

Not everyone likes wooden flower beds: wood requires care, and without it, it quickly loses its appearance. It is especially difficult to care for a tree that comes into contact with the soil. Instead of wooden boxes, there can be, for example, stone or concrete pedestals.

It is very easy to make such a bench in the country with your own hands. You can find ready-made concrete flower beds or do something similar. You can buy a board processed, or you can do it yourself. Instead of a board, there may be half a log - depending on the style in which the site is made out. It is easier to fix the seat with a metal corner. It is attached to concrete with dowels, to wood - with self-tapping screws from below or through bolts.

If someone has large plants in durable flowerpots, you can implement the following idea. In this embodiment, the bench covers the plants. To avoid surprises, flowerpots must be very durable ....

There is a similar version of a bench made of boards and without plants: it may need to be placed on or in. The supports are made up of boards of the same size, and the seat is made of timber.

Bench made of boards - a non-standard option

And another variation on the same theme: hollow building blocks are used as a support. Processed bars are inserted into the holes. This is the bench seat. Just round the edges of the beam, or it will be uncomfortable to sit.

For this garden bench, it is desirable to find large blocks with thick walls. If not, you need to securely fasten the blocks one to the other. The whole task is to fix the blocks first (for example, with studs), and then to them - the bars (with bolts or dowels).

Log benches

If your site is decorated in a rustic or ethno style, the standard approach will not work for you. It is best to use logs in this case - with or without bark - this is your choice.

Seat for a bench made of logs - sawn along the trunk of a large or medium diameter. The back is either a smaller diameter trunk, or just a cut closer to the edge. The legs can also be made from narrow pieces of logs (see the photo below).

Log bench - quick and easy

The legs and seats are interconnected with metal pins: a hole of a slightly smaller diameter is drilled under the pin in both parts. The pin is hammered into one of them, the second part is planted and also hammered, but they are not hitting the pin, but the wood. So that there are no traces, they lay a piece of an unnecessary board and knock on it with a hammer (or sledgehammer). Such a connection should be quite reliable, but to be sure, you can install two or three pins, or you can chop off a little log, making a flat area of the same size on both connected parts. By increasing the area of support, increase the reliability of the seat fastening: after all, the log weighs a lot.

Bench option without back

Another interesting option in the style of "ethno" is presented in the photo above. It is implemented in stone, but you can also make this bench from a log. The seat is a very thick board, the legs are the bulk of the large diameter deck. A groove is cut in the deck for laying the seat. If you have a tool (you can make a cutout with an ax, a grinder or a chainsaw), it's easy to do.

Often in the country you need a desktop. From a log you can make not only a bench, but also a table. A variant of such an ensemble is in the photo. Only the tabletop is made of boards, all other details are logs of different diameters or from half.

A greater degree of processing is inherent in the next bench in the same style. The back, legs, armrests are made of thick and not very thick branches, the seat is made of sanded and processed (peeled and sanded) unedged boards.

Another bench is almost also made. Only boards and branches are located in a different direction and a different view is obtained. A do-it-yourself bench of this type does not require much skill. In this case, the more careless the work is, the more decorative the result.

Wicker back - you will meet infrequently

Around the tree, you can make a platform for relaxation and a bench. The designs are simple, making the flooring is generally simple.

You can add a rest group and. And you can put it above the bench - this is the "progenitor" of the usual arch - one of the types of light gazebos. And so that relaxation is completely complete, you can do, or.

From metal and wood

Few people will put fully metal benches in their country house. They, of course, can be very beautiful, but in the summer they heat up to incredible temperatures, and it gets a little colder - you can’t sit on them, as they are too cold. Benches made of metal and wood are deprived of these shortcomings. The legs and supporting structure are made of metal, and the seat and back (if any) are made of wood. Moreover, there are also interesting benches in modern design.

Rectangles are welded from the profile, jumpers are welded to the side walls, on which the seat boards rest. Simple, stylish, reliable, functional.

In a more advanced form - with armrests, backrest, soft cushions on the seat, this design may look like in the photo. The wide seat turns the bench into a sofa, and cushions add comfort - fabric-covered furniture foam rubber. The tables are made in the same style - a frame made of corrugated pipe and a tabletop made of boards.

One important point: if you are making a seat or tabletop from several adjoining elements, they do not need to be joined back to back. There should be a gap of 3-4 mm between adjacent boards / bars. Wood swells and shrinks. In order for the surface to remain relatively flat during these processes, a gap is needed.

If smoother lines are needed - for families with children - you can bend the pipes and make garden benches and a table with rounded edges. This garden furniture is completely safe. The usual round or professional pipe is bent, leaving on the sides in the shape of the letter "P" with a wide back. The length of this back is the length of the bench. For the table, the dimensions are made a little larger: the legs and the back are longer.

Make two identical blanks on the table and bench. Next, cut the boards of the same length. For a seat about 40 cm, for a tabletop at least 55 cm. They are attached to the pipes with furniture bolts with a flat head. To prevent the caps from sticking out, a hole of a slightly larger diameter is drilled under them.

Board benches

The largest group is benches and benches made of boards. There are designs that are more reminiscent of sofas, especially if you put soft pillows on them - and you can lie down.

Garden furniture in a modern style is easy to assemble: rectangles with partitions made of thinner boards, interconnected.

Even the usual design of a country bench can become exclusive if you approach it with imagination: wooden wheels are used instead of legs and armrests. It turned out to be a designer thing.

A bench made of boards with a back and wheels instead of sides - looks interesting

And the simplest possible one is a board with legs in the form of the letter “X”. Such shops were built centuries ago, you can see them today.

From the boards you can make a bench in a modern style: in the form of the letter "P". With this design, the main task is to ensure rigid fixation of the legs and the seat: the bursting forces are not compensated by anything. In this case, it is important to take a thick board or timber so that it does not sag. You can put the board "on edge": so the rigidity will be greater. To increase reliability, you can install corners from below.

The photo shows a 45° cut. Having a miter box or a circular saw makes it easy to achieve an accurate cut. By precisely docking the workpieces and fastening them, we get an angle of 90 °. If the seat does not bend, it will serve for a long time ...

An interesting and reliable version of the bench is shown in the photo below. The legs are assembled from boards of different lengths: every second one is shorter by the width of the board for the seat. Interesting idea. It is easy to make such a bench: it is important to maintain the dimensions, and everything is connected very simply: with nails into the face of the seat.

original benches

Here, it seems, what else you can think of .. but it turns out, a lot. For example, attach the seat to a large stone.

Make a structure out of bamboo trunks.

Or stone.

Sitting in winter will be unpleasant, but beautiful ...

How to make a bench: photo reports

We will not make benches from stone - not everyone has the equipment, but from different pieces of wood - we can. Let's talk about the manufacture of simple, but unusual designs. So that a bench made with your own hands is a source of pride.

Bench without back

The design is simple, but it looks interesting due to the specific material. For the legs, a bar with rounded edges is used. If you have small logs, you can cut them on the sides. You get almost the same effect. Such material is not so rare, the legs are unusually assembled from it: the bars are laid one on top of the other flat. This adds zest and adds appeal.

This bench without a back has a length of about 120 cm, a width of about 45 cm, a height of 38 cm. You can round the edges of the beam with a cutter, or you can find a similar profiled one. It costs more, but it will be easier to work with it: it is already well processed and connects simply.

Depending on the found section of the beam, calculate the length that you need. Determine how many bars will have to be stacked one on top of the other to get the height you need. In this case, it took 5 bars per leg. Total 45 cm * 5 pcs - 2.25 m. It took 4.5 m of timber for two legs. A board 40 mm thick and 90 mm wide was used on the seat. For the seat you need 5 boards 1.5 meters long. It turned out 1.2 m * 5 pcs = 6 m.

First, we cut and process the boards for the seat. Their edges must be rounded. If there is no grinder or milling cutter, you will have to work with sandpaper, but you can find such a board or arrange at a sawmill to process it for you, and also grind it: there will be much less work. So, we cut the boards of the same length, grind and varnish (with or without tinting - your choice).

Fold the leg bars one near one, aligning their edges. Using a square and a pencil, draw lines where the fasteners will be placed. The distance between the lines is 7-10 cm.

You can take metal pins, or you can make dowels - carved from wood. Holes are drilled under them slightly smaller than the diameter, the depth of the hole is half the length of the pin. Then they are hammered into one part, a second part is pushed into the same hole from above. The connection is reliable, but to be sure, you can add glue, although then the design will turn out to be one-piece.

With a pin connection, the main task is to make holes strictly one above the other, so that the parts mounted on the pin give a smooth edge. We did part of the work - we drew lines where we will drill, now we need to measure the same distance from the edge. Let's create a template for this. We take a piece of plank with a width of about 1.5 cm. At this distance from the edge of the bars, we will drill holes. Having applied it exactly along the edge, we mark the intersections with the applied perpendicular lines.

We will install the pins in a checkerboard pattern, so we will drill holes through one intersection. We also make holes on one bar from different sides in a checkerboard pattern. In a similar way - on the pins - the legs are connected to the seat: two pins for each bar.

Technologically, this type of connection is correct, but it is complex and requires a certain skill. You can do it easier. Fold all the bars one on top of the other, secure with clamps, drill through in two or three sets - in the center and along the edges, connect with a long hairpin, with washers placed under the cap and nut. To the legs of the seat strip assembled in this way, you can nail it on top or try to make a pin connection.

The bench is made by hand. Remaining finishing work

If you nailed the seat, take some wood putty of a suitable color, add some very fine sawdust and stir. Coat the joints with this composition. When dry, smooth with sandpaper. Sand all parts to a smooth finish and coat with lacquer or wood paints for outdoor use (better not covering, but which leave the grain of the wood visible).

How and with what you can paint wood read. It refers to lining, but painting techniques remain the same, and the compositions must be taken for outdoor use.

DIY bench from broken chairs

In any household you can find two old chairs. They should be the same and still strong enough. We disassemble the chairs, leaving the part with the back and legs. We connect the two backs with the help of bars of a suitable section.

For greater rigidity at the bottom, at a distance of about 20 cm from the floor, where the chairs used to also have jumpers, we make another frame with transverse rails. It can be used as a footrest or for storage of any things.

After grinding, we paint the resulting structure. This time the paint should be ordinary: different types of wood can only be painted over with covering paints. Apply with a brush or spray bottle.

The point is small: cut the seat out of thick plywood (thickness 8-10 mm) and cover it with foam rubber and fabric.

Pallet garden chair/bench

Everything is useful in the economy. Even from cargo pallets you can make garden furniture. Moreover, there is no need to disassemble them: we use one for the seat, we will make the back from the second. All you need is well-crafted planks for the armrests and bars for the legs.

In one of the pallets, we strengthen the attachment points by inserting pieces of bars. After inserting, we fasten it with self-tapping screws on one side and on the other.

From a beam with a cross section of at least 100 * 100 mm, we cut four identical segments 80 cm long. We fasten them in those places that have just been reinforced. We leave 20-25 cm on the legs. We fasten with four long self-tapping screws - 150 mm and not shorter.

It is important to maintain verticality and leave the same distance on the legs. Then the seat will stand straight. If there are errors in height, you can try to file, but then you will have to cut from above - so that the armrests are even. So try to screw it straight. Deviations from the vertical can be dealt with only by screwing the leg again.

We attach a second pallet to the rear racks, and on the sides - planks for the armrests.

It remains to cut a piece of furniture foam rubber and cover it with a cloth. You can make pillows for the back. If you are not going to process everything thoroughly, but to make a loft-style chair, go over with sandpaper or a grinder, treating all surfaces to smoothness. You can cover with paint, giving the wood a dark color.
