Do-it-yourself boiler installation. Save on utility bills by installing a water heater in one evening. As a conclusion

Today we will tell you how to install a water heater at home with your own hands.

About the signs of living comfort

The presence of hot water in the house is one of the main signs of a comfortable home.

In apartment buildings, hot water supply is often centralized. Water is heated separately in the boiler room and is supplied to all apartments.

However, now such water supply is economically inefficient, moreover, it has many disadvantages in the form of a possible shutdown of the hot water supply during pipeline breaks or maintenance work in the boiler room.

The owners of private houses, however, are not able to provide such provision with warm water, so they have to solve the problem with the supply themselves.

The solution is to use autonomous hot water supply. A water heater is installed in the house, which provides heating.

This method of providing hot water is becoming so popular that apartment owners often abandon centralized supply in favor of an autonomous one.

Water heaters provide housing with hot water in the right amount, it is available at any time, and this is cost-effective.

Types of water heaters

The main types of water heaters currently in use are electric and gas.

In turn, electric water heaters are divided into storage and.

However, they have one method of heating water - with the help of heating elements.

In gas heaters, the increase in water temperature is carried out due to the combustion of gas.

It should also be noted that the installation of a water heater in the house is not so complicated, it is quite possible to do it yourself, having not very many tools and equipment at hand.

Of course, the situation with gas water heaters is somewhat more complicated, but more on that below.

Positive and negative qualities

By installing your own water heater, you can save a lot of money, this is the main advantage. But self-assembly has other advantages.

Since the work is carried out by the owner of the house himself, when servicing or needing to replace a faulty water heater, it will not be necessary to understand the connection system.

In the future, replacing the heater will be completely simple. In addition, installation work will increase skills in performing various household tasks.

Among the disadvantages of self-installation of a water heater, one can note the possible occurrence of problems with connecting both to the water supply system and to energy or gas supply.

In addition, incorrect work can lead to the fact that the system will not work.

There are several factors to consider before installing a water heater.

1. You need to immediately decide on the type of water heater.

An electric storage heater, also known as a “boiler”, consumes less electricity, but it has rather large dimensions, so you should immediately decide whether there is a place for its installation.

A flowing electric water heater is much more compact and it is easier to find a place for it. But it consumes more electricity.

2. When choosing a storage heater, you should immediately decide whether the wall on which it will be located will withstand a significant weight.

3. Immediately you need to ask. If it is old, then it is unlikely to withstand a large load. Therefore, it may be necessary to replace the electrical network at home.

To calculate whether the wiring can hold the load, the wire size will help.

So that the wiring can withstand the load created by a 2 kW boiler, a wire with a cross section of at least 2.5 mm is required. If a flow heater is installed, the wiring must be even thicker.

4. You should also take an interest in the water supply system. If, when laying it, separate conclusions were provided for connection, then this is very good.

If they are not there, but the system consists of plastic pipes, then it is not so difficult to insert the leads. The most difficult thing will be with metal pipes.

Required tools and materials

If the wiring of the house is quite capable of working with water heaters and it is possible to connect it to the water supply system or make a tie-in, then you can start work.

Of the tools you need:

  1. Perforator with a drill of the required thickness;
  2. Roulette;
  3. A set of keys;
  4. Screwdrivers;
  5. Pliers;
  6. Hammer, etc.

Additionally, you may need a soldering iron for plastic pipes or a die for threading metal pipes.

These tools are needed if necessary, tie-in with the water supply system.

You will also need the following materials:

  • Tow with paste for sealing the joint or fum-tape;
  • Stopcocks (quantity - from 1 to 3 pieces);
  • Tees (plastic or metal);
  • Mounting hooks;
  • Connecting hoses (if they are not included);
  • Safety valve (for boiler);
  • 3-core cable (its length should be enough to the meter);
  • or socket.

Installation of instantaneous water heater

The first will be flow type water heaters. These heaters are divided into portable and stationary.

With portable water heaters, installation problems should not be at all. Often, water is supplied to them from a shower hose with a previously removed sprayer.

To install, just select its location. Then measure the attachment points. In this case, you need to take into account the length of the wiring, it should be enough to the nearest outlet.

After that, hang the heater on hooks, connect the hose from the shower to the inlet outlet and connect it to the outlet.

This completes the installation. Below are examples of work.

The complexity of installing a stationary instantaneous water heater depends mainly on the water supply system at home.

If only a pipeline with cold water enters the house, then installation will be easier, and if it is with cold and hot, additional work will be required.

Let's first consider the first case.

The first step, again, will require determining the location of the heater. But here you need to focus on the pipeline with water, the heater should be located not far from it.

If the pipeline with water has an outlet with a shut-off valve for connection, then it will not be difficult to provide water supply.

It is enough to connect a flexible hose to the stopcock and to the supply outlet of the heater itself.

But you should also worry about the outlet of the heater. A flexible hose must also be connected to it, and the other end to the mixer.

If there are several water intake points, then it will be necessary to lay plastic pipelines to them, and then connect the hose from the heater to this pipeline.

If there is no separate output in the support system, then you will have to make it.

If the pipes are plastic, then from the tools you will additionally need a soldering iron for plastic pipes, scissors for cutting them, and from materials - a tee and a stopcock.

Before starting work, you need to shut off the water supply to the system and drain its remnants.

Then cut the pipe in the place closest to the location of the device.

Using a soldering iron, solder the tee into the cut, and connect the tap to it. Then connect the hoses to the device.

If the pipes are metal, then for tapping you will need a die for cutting threads on pipes.

The sequence of work is the same as for plastic ones: the pipe is cut, threads are cut at its ends, a tee is screwed in, and a stopcock is screwed onto it.

After installation, check the tightness of all connections. To do this, the water supply is turned on and the connections are checked for leaks.

Second case.

If a pipeline with hot water also enters the house, then in addition to connecting the supply to the heater from the pipeline with cold water, it will be necessary to install two additional shut-off valves and one tee.

The tee cuts into the hot water supply pipe. Before it, the first valve is installed, and the second - at the outlet of the heater.

This will ensure the connection and disconnection of hot water from different sources.

When using hot water from a centralized supply, the taps at the inlet and outlet to the heater are closed.

If water heated by the device is used, then the taps leading to it open, and the tap installed in front of the tee, embedded in the pipeline with hot water, is blocked.

Installing a storage water heater

The installation of a storage water heater is approximately the same.

First, the location of the boiler is selected. It must have good access for maintenance.

Then all measurements and drilling of holes for mounting mounting hooks are made.

Additionally, it may be necessary to install safety bolts.

Another way.

Then the water supply is connected. If only a pipeline with cold water enters the house, then a tee crashes into it, and a shut-off valve is already on it.

A safety valve must be located on the inlet outlet to the boiler, which ensures that the required pressure in the boiler is maintained.

Since this valve has a water outlet, a silicone tube will need to be connected to it, the end of which should be connected to the drain.

A hose is connected to the outlet of the boiler, through which hot water will be supplied to the pipeline leading to consumers.

Therefore, it is desirable to lay this pipeline in advance.

After the heater is connected to the electrical network. The connection is best made to the junction box located closest to the meter. Now you can already use for these purposes, but you need to know models that can withstand a heavy load.

It is desirable to lay the wire in a strobe with its subsequent termination. A circuit breaker must be installed in the wiring near the boiler.

Schematic diagram of the installation of the boiler.

If a pipeline with hot water also enters the house, then it will be necessary to insert the outlet pipe from the boiler into this pipeline and install another tee and two additional taps.

After you need to pump the heater with water. To do this, you need to open one of the taps of the point of consumption, and after that - the tap for supplying water to the heater.

If there is a connection to the centralized hot water pipeline, the valve installed in front of the tee must be closed and the valve at the boiler outlet must be opened.

Water, filling the system, will push out the air in the system and it will exit through the tap of the point of consumption.

During injection, all piping connections should be inspected for leaks.

If necessary, the connections can be tightened. If the leak persists after tightening, it is better to repack the connection, having previously closed all supply taps and drained the water from the system.

Boiler Installation Examples .

After filling the systems with water, the boiler is connected to the network.

Installing a gas water heater

With gas water heaters, everything is somewhat more complicated. If such a heater has not been used before, it will not be possible to install it yourself.

Installation will require coordination with the relevant authorities, the installation of the water heater is also carried out by them.

But it is quite possible to replace a faulty gas water heater yourself. Moreover, all connections are already in place.

To replace it, you will first need to completely shut off the gas supply to the water heater.

Usually, when installing such a heater, a valve is installed in front of the gas pipeline entering it.

You also need to turn off the water taps and drain the remaining water.

Then the faulty water heater is removed, and a new one is fixed in its place.

It is important to ensure that the fit of this pipe is tight.

If there is a gap and it is worn loosely, it may need to be replaced with a pipe with a smaller diameter.

To do this, you may need a special rubber hose with adapters at the ends.

After connecting, you should immediately check the connections. To do this, they need to be moistened with plenty of soapy water and open the gas supply valve.

If the connection is made correctly, no bubbles in the soap solution should appear at the connection points.

If they are, you need to shut off the gas supply, and tighten the connections and re-check.

The last connection to the heater is water pipelines. You can do this earlier, but the water supply must be shut off.

Again, after installation work with pipelines, they should be checked for leaks and, if necessary, eliminate it by tightening the connection or completely repacking.

To understand the principle of installing a storage water heater, you need to know the technical characteristics of the equipment.

The storage water heater is a cylindrical tank of vertical and horizontal type, designed to heat water from 55 to 75˚ using an electric heating element. After heating the water to a predetermined temperature value, the water heater turns off and goes into automatic temperature maintenance mode.

Advantages and disadvantages

Boiler heating coil

The advantage of storage water heaters is that they are versatile and do not require large energy costs. Their installation is allowed in any premises where there is electrical wiring and water supply.

In addition to these advantages, there is another and no less significant plus - the use of water from the tank in several places at the same time. From the storage water heater, a supply is made to the main water pressure valve, from where water is distributed. The only negative is that its dimensions do not make it possible to install them in small rooms and in tight spaces.

If you are faced with a choice and do not know which of the two types of water heaters to choose, then the best and most economical option, of course, is a vertical water heater. This is argued by the fact that in a vertical water heater, the heating element is located at the bottom of the tank. And at the horizontal heater in the side. As a rule, cold water goes down to the bottom of the tank. For vertical water heaters, its heating is not difficult.

Horizontal storage water heaters cope with water heating worse. As a result, electricity consumption increases.

Below you can watch a video about the types of storage water heaters and the principles of their operation:

What can affect the life of a water heater?

Storage water heater device

First of all, the quality of water affects the durability of the storage tank. If you are using water that is saturated with iron, then it is best to use an enameled tank. Large protective anodes are placed in enameled tanks; they will neutralize the active components of iron. The only requirement is the regular replacement of the protective anode.

As for stainless storage water heaters, they are supplied with small protective anodes. Consequently, when using ferruginous water, the anode cannot cope with the load, and iron settles on the surface of the tank and on the heating elements. As a result, it is necessary to change the heating element and the anode at the same time.

Diagram of the principle of operation

There is another nuance that affects the durability of the water heater - this is the operation of the water heater. Improper operation of the device in the winter season leads to the fact that the water tank freezes, as a result of which the heating elements and protective anodes burst. The joints begin to leak, as a rule, this leads to premature disposal of the water heater.

Storage water heaters are made with one and two heating elements of different capacities - 1.5 and 2.5 kW. The heater with two heating elements is installed in places where the consumption of large electrical power is provided.

The heater with one heating element is designed for low-power electrical lines.

Places of installation of storage water heater

Installation under the sink

The most ideal place where you can install the device is the lower part of the wall under the sink. Thus, the space is not cluttered up and the risk of the tank breaking under the weight of the mass of water is reduced. Do not be afraid that splashes of water will fall on the surface and on the places of the connecting elements. Manufacturers of water heaters have worked out an electrical safety system and marked the degree of protection on the body of the water heater. Therefore, before installing a storage water heater, read the label.

Installation of fasteners

Mounting the water heater on the bracket

We mark the place of installation of fasteners and install anchor bolts or hooks. The installation of anchors and hooks is done with an adjustable wrench, and they are clamped with full force. At the end of fixing the fasteners, the nuts are unscrewed from the anchor bolts, and a tank is put on the anchor, after which the nuts are clamped.

The choice of fasteners is selected according to the volume of the tank.

Water supply to the water heater

Water supply to the boiler

To facilitate the process of supplying water to the water heater, it is necessary to start by supplying cold water. The inlet of the branch pipe is marked in blue; an outlet is inserted into it with a pre-wound layer of tow impregnated with silicone.

A tee is screwed onto the processed branch pipe and an emergency drain valve, a relief valve and a shut-off valve are mounted in each hole. At the end of the installation of the taps and the valve, a threaded adapter is installed on the tee and connected to the apartment water supply.

Next, we move on to hot water. We install a shut-off valve and a threaded adapter on the hot water supply system, it will serve as a link between the apartment wiring and the hot water pipeline.

How to install a storage water heater - installation of a storage water heater

Tips for installing a storage water heater. How to connect a storage water heater to the water supply system.

A water heater has long ceased to be considered a luxury item. Currently, such equipment is installed in almost every home. The most popular are flow and storage electric water heaters. Your attention is invited to an overview of the main advantages and disadvantages of the mentioned equipment, as well as instructions for its independent installation and proper use.

Do-it-yourself water heater installation

Advantages and disadvantages of instantaneous water heater

Advantages

  1. Compact dimensions. The flow heater does not take up much space. At the same time, models of heaters are available for sale, equipped with a mixer and a shower head, which allows you to save additional money.
  2. Fast heating. Unlike storage-type models, instantaneous heaters begin to produce warm water already 30-60 seconds after starting.
  3. No restrictions on the volume of heated water. The user can get exactly the amount of hot water that he needs, unlike storage tanks, the volume of which is limited.
  4. Relatively low price.

Flaws

  1. Relatively high power consumption.
  2. Demanding on wiring, machine and meter.
  3. Limited performance. This drawback is relevant only for low-power and compact budget models that can prepare hot water exclusively for the bathroom. If it is necessary to equip the wiring and the kitchen, you will have to spend more money on buying a more energy-intensive and overall model.
  4. Relatively expensive operation due to significant power consumption.

Do-it-yourself water heater installation

Instantaneous water heaters are best suited for houses and apartments equipped with electric stoves. In this case, the meter and wiring will already comply with regulatory requirements.

Advantages and disadvantages of storage heaters

Advantages

  1. No need to modify the electrical network. The storage heater can be plugged into an ordinary electrical outlet.
  2. Profitability. On average, storage water heaters consume about the same amount of electricity per hour of operation as an ordinary vacuum cleaner. At the same time, models with the ability to control the heating power are available for sale. The time required to prepare the required volume of water at the desired temperature directly depends on the installed power.
  3. The possibility of arranging wiring for a bathroom and kitchen.

Flaws

The only significant drawback of storage water heaters is their impressive dimensions. However, today manufacturing companies offer their consumers a large selection of heater models that save space. For example, if you wish, you can purchase a flat unit.

How to install a water heater

Installation of instantaneous water heater

The process of installing an instantaneous water heater does not require the performer to have any serious skills. There are two options for mounting such a unit: for temporary use and for permanent operation.

Connection of 10 and 15 liter models

Temporary connection

This option is usually used when it is necessary to obtain heated water in the absence of the possibility of connecting to a central water supply. After the appearance of such an opportunity, the water heater is easily turned off or even dismantled until the next use - it does not take much time.

The most convenient for temporary use are models that were originally equipped with a mixer and a shower head.

First step. Fix the heater in a convenient place with dowels and screws.

Second step. Remove the watering can from the domestic shower hose and connect the hose to the water heater inlet.

Third step. Connect the complete watering can to the outlet of the water heater.

As a result, the cold liquid will enter the heater from the mixer, heat up when passing through it, and leave the complete watering can already warm.

Do-it-yourself water heater installation

Permanent connection

This option is used in situations where the heater is planned to be operated regularly. In this case, the unit is connected to the water supply system.

The connection is carried out according to the scheme already considered, however, the supply and output of the liquid are fixed permanently. For such a connection, special tees are used, as well as stopcocks.

As a result, heated water will come out of the mixer.

After installing the heater, make sure that all connections are tight and only then accept the device for permanent use.

Do-it-yourself horizontal water heater installation

?

It is important to understand not only the order of connecting an instantaneous water heater, but also the features of its use.

The main rule: the flow-through water heater can only be turned on after the heater coil is completely filled with water.

If the heater coil is not covered with liquid in sufficient volume, it will break and it will become impossible to use the device.

How to use the flow heater

Scheme of connecting a water heater in an apartment

Regardless of the option you choose to connect the flow heater, the use of such a device is carried out in the following order:

  • valve opens;
  • cold water is transferred to the heater;
  • after a while, cold liquid begins to come out of the watering can of the heater;
  • you turn on the water heater;
  • after 30-60 seconds, already heated water comes out of the watering can.

How to use the flow heater

Turning off the appliance is carried out in a similar order - you turn off the heater, wait until cold liquid begins to flow from the shower head, and only then turn off the water supply.

Installation of storage heater

Installation of an electric boiler

In the case of storage heaters, temporary installation is not provided. Of course, you can connect an ordinary hose with a watering can to the outlet of warm water, but it will be categorically inconvenient to use such a unit.

Water heater connection diagram

First step. Choose a suitable place to install the water heater and check the wall.

Flow models are quite light in weight. Cumulative ones will exert a much more significant load on the wall. Therefore, when choosing a place to install a heater, you need to pay attention not only to the degree of convenience of piping, but also to the strength of the surface.

How to install a storage water heater

As a rule, heaters up to 200 l are fixed to the wall. Tanks of larger volume require only floor installation. If the heater has a volume of more than 50 liters, it is recommended to fix it exclusively to a load-bearing wall.

Second step. Prepare all the necessary tools for installing the water heater.

Materials you will need

You will need:

  • puncher (if the wall is concrete) or impact electric drill (if the wall is brick);
  • marker;
  • measuring tape;
  • drill for tiles (if the surface at the place of the future attachment of the heater is tiled);
  • protective valve;
  • FUM tape;
  • dowels and fastening hooks;
  • building level.

In the presence of the required wiring with pre-mounted tees and shut-off valves, the installation of the storage heater is carried out in an extremely simple sequence.

How to install a boiler

First step. Step back about 150-200 mm from the ceiling surface and leave marks on the wall for future holes. Thanks to this gap, you can conveniently lift the water heater for hanging and removing the tank.

Second step. Armed with a drill (perforator) with a suitable drill, make holes in the wall with a depth corresponding to the length of the mounting hooks.

Third step. Drive the dowels into the prepared holes, and then screw the screws into them. Be sure to leave a gap to accommodate the water heater mounting plate.

Fourth step. Install the tank on the mounts.

Fifth step. Install a safety valve on the cold fluid inlet. With its help, excessive pressure will be removed from the system. Connect a tube to drain excess fluid to the sewer pipe. Also, this tube can be gently inserted into the toilet bowl.

Sixth step. Connect the cold water pipe to the water heater inlet. The entrance is marked blue. Connect only through the safety valve. To the outlet (marked in red), connect the ready-made hot liquid outlet pipe.

Typical scheme for installing a storage water heater

Again, pay attention to the importance of the safety valve. Without such a device, the tank can be seriously damaged or even burst due to excessive pressure during the preparation of hot water.

Diagram of connecting the boiler to the network with your own hands

If there is a protective valve, the excess pressure will simply be released and the device will continue to operate under normal conditions. Also, with the help of a safety valve, you can quickly and conveniently drain water from the heater when it is necessary to perform maintenance and repair work on the equipment.

Thus, the installation of a water heater is not particularly difficult. If you wish, you can independently install and connect a storage model or a flow heater. It is enough just to follow the provisions of the presented guide and everything will definitely work out.

Installation of water heaters of different types: mounting, connection, diagrams

Household water heaters are designed to provide hot water to individual apartments, country houses or country houses. This condition is characterized by a limited number of people living in an apartment or house. For those who have basic plumbing skills, installing a water heater with their own hands allows you to save the family budget and get incomparable pleasure from the result of your work.

First you need to determine the most optimal type of device for heating water. Water heaters are:

  1. by power source;
  2. according to the principle of operation.

According to the power source, there are two groups of devices: gas and electric.

According to the principle of operation - storage and flow.

The principle of operation of water heaters of various types

Cumulative

Water heating in the case of the accumulative principle of operation is carried out in a tank with water. This type of device for providing hot water is the most common. Their popularity is explained by the attractiveness of the price and the absence of specific requirements for electrical wiring.

In a flow heater, water is heated when it is fed through a special flask equipped with an electric heating element. Such a device is placed directly on the faucet with water that comes from the water supply. With this principle of operation, the water is heated to approximately 30⁰С. The disadvantages include the fact that the flow heater requires a large amount of energy, which is not always within the power of old buildings. According to the power of the energy consumed, the devices are divided into single-phase and three-phase. In addition, one of the determining factors is the heating element: a spiral or heating element. If the water in the house or in the country is hard, then a spiral heating element is preferable. It should be noted that the heating element consumes 10 - 20% less electricity than a device with a spiral.

General tips for installing a water heater with your own hands

Basic stages of work

Regardless of the type of water heating device, the installation of the water heater is carried out in full compliance with the general safety rules and the requirements of specific manufacturers. Before starting work, it is necessary to determine the status and conditions:

  • Provide free access to the device during the entire period of operation;
  • Choose the right wall for mounting. For example, with a tank capacity of 80 liters, the wall must withstand a double load - 160 kg;
  • Determine the condition of the wiring, its cross section and the ability to withstand the power of the electric heater (if necessary, replace the wiring);
  • Determine the condition of the risers and pipes in the apartment or house (in some cases it is necessary to change the pipes to ensure the installation of the heating device).

Necessary tools and materials

In addition, for comfortable work, it is necessary to prepare the necessary tools and materials in advance:

perforator with an appropriate nozzle, tape measure, adjustable wrenches, wire cutters, 2 types of screwdrivers, pliers, fum tape or paste, linen threads, fittings, metal-plastic pipe (the footage is determined depending on the location and connection conditions), 2 connecting hoses , stopcocks (2 units for a flow-through water heater and 3 units for an accumulative one), as well as two or three tees - respectively.

Option "A": installation of a storage water heater

Step 1: Attaching the Heater

The step-by-step instructions for installing a storage water heater are simple and doable:

  1. On the selected wall, mark the place for mounting the unit. Using a tape measure, measure the distance between the holes of the anchors of the device;
  2. Mark holes on the wall. Using a puncher, drill holes (2 or 4 depending on the design);
  3. Insert the dowels and hammer or twist the hooks.

Important note for fixing the device: you need to measure the distance from the holes in the anchors to the highest point of the device. To put it on hooks, the same distance on the wall must be observed: from the dowels to the ceiling, plus a small margin.

Step 2: connect the appliance to the water supply

When the device is already fixed on the wall, you can start connecting the water heater. The simplest and easiest conditions for implementing this procedure are when the connection points are displayed. It remains only to connect them to the input and output of the device through pipes or flexible hoses. The tightness of the connection using flexible hoses is ensured by a sealing rubber gasket. The cold water inlet to the heating device is marked in blue and a special valve is installed on it, which allows you to relieve excess pressure. For comfortable maintenance, it is recommended to install an additional tee in front of the stopcock and connect it. In the future, it will allow you to drain water from the tank. It is important to ensure tightness - wind the fum tape or thread with paste on all the places where the connections were made.

Standard connection diagram for a storage water heater:

The hot water outlet on the appliance is marked in red. It must be connected to a hot water faucet. After that, open the cold and hot water valves, wait until all the air comes out of the hot water tap and water flows. At the same time, check for leaks at the joints.

Step 3: power supply

The next step is to connect the water heater to the power supply, where the method is determined only by the preferences of the new owner of the water heater. The contacts on the instrument terminals are marked as follows:

  • A - phase (brown wire);
  • N - zero (blue color of the wire);
  • Grounding (yellow or any other color in a three-core cable).

After connection, apply voltage. As a result, the activity indicator light on the device will light up. Then, according to the manufacturer's instructions, you need to adjust the temperature. The storage water heater is installed and ready for use.

Option "B": installation of instantaneous water heater

The light weight and compact dimensions of such a device make it possible to install an instantaneous water heater, for example, under the sink in the kitchen. The rapid heating of water, which this device provides, puts forward special requirements for wiring and an electricity meter: a cable from four to six mm², a meter from 40 A, a circuit breaker from 32 to 40 A.

For flow-type water heaters, there are two installation methods - temporary and stationary.

Temporary connection

A temporary connection uses a shower hose, and when the centralized hot water supply is restored, it can simply be closed and not used. The temporary type requires cold water supply. To do this, a tee cuts into the cold water supply pipe, a shut-off valve is installed, a flexible hose is connected to the input of the water heating device. Then you need to open the cold water valve, open the outlet valve for heated water, turn it on. After 30 seconds, hot water starts flowing.

Fixed connection

The stationary option provides the supply and intake of heated water simultaneously with the functioning of the centralized water supply. Here you will need 2 tees that cut into pipes (hot and cold water). Then valves with a tight connection are installed. After that, the pipe with cold water is connected to the input to the device (blue marker). Using a metal-plastic pipe or hose, the heated water outlet is connected to the hot water shut-off valve. Following this, you need to open the mixer and taps, and also check the tightness of the connections. After connecting to the power supply, heated water will flow from the mixer. Fixed connection means shutting off the hot water riser in an apartment building. This action will prevent the outflow of heated water into the pipes of neighboring apartments.

Other types of water heaters

Gas heaters

An alternative to an electric water heater is a gas water heater that works on the flow principle. It is possible to install such a device only if a gas column already exists. If it is not there, then the independent installation of the gas column is excluded, since this is a violation of the Law. Even if there is a geyser, its modernization or changes for heating water should be entrusted to a service gas company that has the required licenses and certificates. She will perform all work safely, reliably and in accordance with all rules, regulations and laws.

Induction heaters

Among noteworthy types of water heating devices is an induction water heater. Scale does not form in the tanks of such devices. The variable magnetic field of the inductor (heating element) does not allow magnesium and calcium cations to settle on the surface of the heat exchanger. This fact keeps the efficiency of the device for many years. This device has a number of other advantages, which in the future, with the improvement of this technology, will allow it to become a serious competitor to currently popular devices for heating water.

Do-it-yourself water heater installation: instantaneous and storage

Installation of water heaters of various types: mounting, connection, circuits Household water heaters are designed to provide hot water to individual apartments, country houses or summer cottages

How to install a storage water heater yourself?

Storage electric water heaters, also called boilers, can be found in many apartments and private houses. Such devices provide homes with hot water. Let's look at how to install a storage water heater yourself. Believe me, it's not difficult at all.

Choosing a place to install boilers of different types

According to the installation method, modern heaters are divided into floor, wall and built-in. The last of these are mounted under the sink in the kitchen or in a special box installed in the apartment. The floor type boiler, as its name implies, is placed on the floor. It is usually designed for a large volume of water, so its purchase and installation are recommended in country houses with a large area.

Floor units are installed without any tricks. It is only important to put them on a special stand and carefully align them with the bolts that are on the bottom of the device. In an apartment, as a rule, a wall-mounted electric boiler is installed. It does not take up much usable space, as it is mounted on the wall. We will consider its competent independent installation in detail in this article. But first, here are some important tips for choosing the location of the heater.

A boiler of any type is always placed in a place that is at a minimum distance from the draw-off points and at the same time protected from the possibility of water freezing. The shorter the pipes used when connecting the water heater, the better. In situations where the draw-off points are located at a relatively large distance from each other, we recommend installing several boilers.

Installing multiple boilers

Do-it-yourself installation of a water heater assumes that you provide for a certain free space around it, which can later be used for repair and maintenance of the unit. In this regard, it is not advisable to completely sew up an electric boiler into any niche.

Installing an electric boiler on the wall - we do everything right

Be sure to take into account the strength characteristics of the surface (in our case, the wall) intended for mounting the water heater. It is also important to properly fix the boiler on the wall so that it does not break off during operation. With a low strength of the walls, it is recommended to fill it with a light metal frame or wooden slats and install the unit.

The mounting scheme for heating equipment depends on its type and specific model. Most often, fastening is performed using:

  • dowel-screw kit;
  • screws L-shaped type, designed to work with wooden surfaces;
  • drop-in anchors if the wall is made of concrete.

Dowel screw and drive-in anchors

A wall-mounted boiler kit usually includes a special support bar. It provides more reliable fastening of the equipment. If installing a water heater with your own hands involves the use of L-shaped screws, the length of the hardware must be more than 6 cm, and the cross section must be at least 8 mm. Dowels are taken with a diameter of 1.2 cm. If the installation scheme provides for the use of anchors, the cross section of such fasteners should be 1.6 cm. Hardware smaller in diameter cannot be used.

When mounting the unit in an apartment on a frame or a support bar, the fixation scheme for such structures looks like this:

  • the frame is applied to the wall surface and aligned horizontally;
  • a hole is drilled with an impact drill or puncher;
  • in the holes obtained, the support element is mounted.

Support element mounting

In dwellings with “flimsy” walls, instead of a standard support bar, it is better to use a frame made independently from a corner or a steel three-millimeter strip. This design will completely hold the boiler. The scheme of its fastening will be similar to fixing a conventional support bar. Installation of a wall-mounted heater is carried out taking into account its design features. The equipment is accompanied by a drawing and a diagram of the location of its nozzles. Mount the boiler, focusing on the data specified by the manufacturer.

And be sure to make sure that the device does not move spontaneously along the hooks or bar during operation. He must hold on tight and be absolutely motionless.

Subtleties of connecting the heater to the water supply network

When inserting equipment into pipes for cold and hot water, stopcocks should be placed on them, and a check valve should also be installed at the cold water inlet. Without these devices, the installation of the heating apparatus cannot be carried out. They make it possible to turn off the boiler during maintenance and repair.

In situations where the pressure of the water supplied to the dwelling is at a high level, experts advise connecting a special drain pipe to the non-return valve (to its “spout”), the second end of which is led into the sewer. They do this in order to be able to use water from two sources - directly from the heater and from a centralized hot water supply system.

Drain pipe on the boiler non-return valve

After inserting and connecting the equipment, the scheme of your actions should be as follows:

  • turn off the shut-off valve on the hot water supply;
  • open the water supply taps on the boiler;
  • “remove” air from the water heater by opening the “hot tap” on the mixer.

At the moment when the water flows from the mixer in a continuous stream, turn off the hot water. You have filled the tank of the unit with water necessary for its normal operation. Please note - you cannot turn on the boiler without a safety valve. Another subtlety. Installation of equipment for heating water is best done near the hot water distribution area from the pipeline. Thus, heat loss in the pipes will be minimized.

Heater safety valve

In a city apartment, from this point of view, the wall (rear) of the bathroom is considered the best place to install the boiler - there it will be really close to the “hot” pipes. If there is no desire to put the device in the toilet, mount the unit in another place. But then be sure to insulate sections of the "native" pipeline with additional pipes with a cut in the longitudinal direction. They will easily fit on standard tubular products and provide the required level of thermal insulation.

We add that in country houses where there is no central water supply, the boiler can be filled from a special water tank. The mounting scheme of the water heater remains the same. And an additional tank is placed 2–2.5 meters above the cover of the installed unit.

We connect the boiler to the mains - the services of an electrician are not needed

The final stage of installing water heating equipment is to connect it to the household electrical network. If you have never dealt with electricity, it is better to contact a professional electrician. If you have a minimum of knowledge and some skills in dealing with electricians, you can do everything yourself.

Connecting the equipment to the household electrical network

It is important to understand here - the water heater is a very powerful unit. Therefore, it should be connected to a separately installed socket, protected from water splashes. It has a special ground terminal that ensures stable operation of the boiler. You will also need: a circuit breaker; RCD (residual shutdown mechanism of the device), which is placed on the power supply line with electricity - directly into the outlet if there is an RCD adapter or into the electrical panel.

Splash-proof socket

The circuit breaker (AB) performs two functions:

  • protects equipment from overload currents;
  • protects boiler components from damage caused by short circuits.

Choose an AB for 16 A or more, install it (the connection diagram is shown in the figure) and an RCD, start the boiler to check. Just remember to fill the tank completely with water. If everything works, congratulations! You were able to properly install the water heater.

How to install a storage water heater - pro tips Video

An article on how to install a storage water heater, a step-by-step diagram and a video of the correct installation of an electric boiler in an apartment and a private house

When buying a storage boiler, the owner has two problems: how to connect and how to fix it to the wall. More often the second act is accompanied by a large number of questions. It has to do with the material of the wall. Reliable fastening of the water heater can only be ensured on a solid and solid foundation. Walls made of soft material require the installation of additional fasteners.

To figure out how to hang a water heater on the wall, you first need to find out the design feature of the storage device. According to the type of heating, boilers are:

  • Gas water heaters are connected to the main or cylinder. Requires the output of the chimney outside the premises.
  • Electric boilers work from the connection to the home electrical network. The absence of combustion products does not require a chimney outlet, since it is generally absent.
  • Water heaters of indirect heating are equipped with a heat exchanger connected to the heating system.

What all these boilers have in common is storage capacity. The larger the tank, the heavier it is when filled with water. It depends on this design feature how to hang the boiler on a wall made of different materials and where to choose a place for it.

Any model of a water heater is on sale with fastening elements. Floor-standing appliances are easier to install, while hanging boilers require a solid wall. As standard, each boiler body is equipped with mounting lugs at the rear. Comes with steel hooks. If not, you will have to buy separately. The thickness of the hook should correspond to the diameter of the hole in the eyes.

Even an inexperienced person can figure out how to use the wall mount for a water heater:

  • The first option - dowels for fixing the device are driven in with a construction gun. However, not every owner has a tool at home.
  • It is easier to drill holes in the wall for plastic dowels and screw in steel hooks.

Standard fastening options are suitable for a solid concrete or stone base. How to mount the boiler on weak walls will depend on the looseness of the material.

Mounting options for walls made of different materials

From a storage water heater, even with a tank with a capacity of 100 liters, the load on concrete is not terrible. Such a wall is considered an ideal support. Now we will try to find out how to fix a large-volume water heater to structural elements of a building made of other materials.

foam concrete

First, let's figure out how the storage heater is attached to foam concrete. Lightweight models with a tank capacity of 50 liters will withstand spiral-shaped nylon dowels. For heavy boilers designed for 80 and 100 liters, you will need steel fasteners:

  • Alternatively, a mounting plate fixed with long steel dowels is suitable. It is better to pass the threaded studs through the wall and tighten the nuts through the lining of wide washers.
  • Special anchors are produced for foam concrete walls, but they do not always withstand a large load.
  • Chemical anchors or, as they are called, adhesive anchors sit neatly and firmly in the wall.

Of all the options, the third is more acceptable. Despite this name, the adhesive composition is environmentally friendly and resistant to temperature changes.

To fix the chemical anchor, a hole is drilled in the wall. The drill is placed at an angle, turning along the axis. As a result, inside the foam concrete, a niche is obtained like a pocket, wider than the inlet. The recess is filled with glue, and then the anchor itself is inserted. After solidification, a cone-shaped solid cork is obtained, which can only be pulled out with a large piece of foam concrete wall.

Adobe

The strength of the wall depends on the quality of the adobe, but the use of anchors alone is indispensable. How to get out of the situation, ingenuity will help. The simplest option is to make a shield. The metal plate will evenly distribute the load on the walls and the fastener itself. Mounting hooks or eyes are welded to the shield to fix the water heater to the bolts. The plate is attached to the adobe wall with long anchors or through studs with wide washers.

Ceramic tile

A storage heater can be hung on a wall lined with ceramic tiles under two conditions:

  • there are no voids under the lining;
  • the tile is firmly glued to the wall of durable material.

If these rules are not followed, two problems will arise. First, the fasteners, together with the water heater, will fall off the wall. Secondly, even if the anchors are somehow held, the tile will not withstand the load. Tiles in soft areas and voids will begin to be pressed into the wall and crack.

Plasterboard partitions

To hang the boiler on drywall, mortgages are provided inside the interior partition even during its construction. The design is made durable, and its area should preferably correspond to the dimensions of the water heater. A narrow mortgage will not allow the anchors to break out, but under the weight of the water, the boiler will bend and push through the partition from the plasterboard.

You can simply fix the water heater to a drywall wall, provided that there is a supporting structure behind the sheets. If the concrete surface is lined with plasterboard, the anchors are screwed in in the traditional way. The depth of the holes should be sufficient to firmly hold the fasteners, and the thickness of the drywall when drilling is not taken into account.

Wood

To hang a water heater on a wooden wall, be sure to enclose a non-combustible material. How to fix a heavy water tank depends on the condition of the support. The load-bearing wall made of wooden beams or logs is strong. You can simply screw in the L-shaped bracket. However, over time, wood loses its properties. Alternatively, it is better to use an additional shield. The steel plate will evenly distribute the load and play the role of a non-combustible lining.

The option with a shield is suitable for an interior partition made of wood. In old houses, the piers were made of poles upholstered with shingles, and inside they were filled with clay and straw. The shield will have to be fastened with studs with nuts passed through the partition.

clapboard

The most capricious material in any performance is lining. The question of non-combustible lining remains. And how best to hang the unit on the wall, you have to decide individually. The best option, if it is possible to securely fix it, is to install racks from a bar or a profile pipe. The structure is painted to match the color of the lining, and then a water heater is hung.

plaster

In plaster, not a single fastener can withstand a lot of weight. If you need to hang a storage boiler, the ceiling will help. Two tires are cut from metal strips 4 mm thick. One edge is securely fixed to the floor beam or concrete ceiling slab. The second edge is fixed with dowels to the plaster.

The best option is to cut two grooves in the wall from floor to ceiling. Two racks from a profile pipe are inserted inside. The frame is fixed at two points: the floor and the ceiling. Hooks or threaded studs are welded to the pipes for hanging the water heater.

Brick and cinder block

An anchor screw is suitable for a cinder block wall. However, it all depends on the quality of the material. Hollow porous blocks are weak. As a way out of the situation, studs or bolts passing through the wall, as well as L-shaped hooks with plastic inserts, will help.

Sand-lime brick holds the anchor screw or stud with a collet no worse than concrete. However, the supporting structure should not be thin. The minimum wall thickness allowed is 1 brick.

The red brick walls are weak. At a minimum, you will have to weld a frame or shield, and fix the storage water heater to them.

Concrete

To screw the anchor into concrete, you can even use a plastic dowel driven into the drilled hole. Holds a heavy tank filled with water, a hairpin with a collet. It is better to fix the shield on the wall of loose concrete.

Necessary tools for work

A construction gun will help to quickly fix the boiler with dowels on a concrete wall. In all other cases, the following tools will be required:

  • impact electric drill or hammer drill with drilling function;
  • hammer;
  • grinder with a cutting disc for metal in the case of making a frame or racks;
  • level, pencil, tape measure;
  • wrenches, pliers.

From the materials you will need fasteners suitable for the wall material. For a home-made design, long studs with nuts and wide washers, sheet metal 4 mm thick, and a profile pipe are prepared.

Installation work

Choose the place of installation of the storage heater as close as possible to the taps and electrical panel. The water heater should not occupy usable space. After checking the strength, markings are drawn on the wall, holes are drilled, plastic dowels are driven in, or a home-made shield is mounted.

At the back of the boiler there is a mounting plate with lugs. An anchor is inserted into the holes and twisted into a plastic dowel. If hooks were used, then the boiler is simply hung with lugs. When using studs, the mounting plate is pressed with nuts.

At the end of the installation work, connect the outlet pipes to the water supply, try to fill the tank with water and check how securely it is fixed.

Buying a water heater is not everything. It still needs to be installed, and then connected. And connect to both water and electricity. How to install a water heater depends on its type: instantaneous or storage. Depending on the size and shape, the installation site is selected. The requirements for the power supply line depend on the power, and the connection scheme to the water supply depends on the internal structure of the water heater.

Types of electric water heaters

There are two large groups: flow and storage. Instantaneous water heaters heat the water that passes through them. In this regard, they are relatively small in size, but very high power - up to 24 kW, but this is the maximum. For washing dishes and taking a shower, a power of 4-6 kW is enough, for taking a bath - 10-12 kW. So, to connect such equipment, a dedicated power line with an RCD is required.

Storage water heaters are also called "boilers", they have a reservoir and a small, compared with flowing, power - from 0.8 kW to 4 kW. However, a separate power line is also desirable for them. Boiler sizes depend on the volume of water contained in the tank. Their shape is cylindrical, and the cylinder can be located vertically (cheaper option) and horizontally (more expensive).

The place for installing the water heater is chosen mainly depending on the existing connection conditions. Most often, this is either a bathroom or a kitchen: water is supplied to both rooms. Secondly, the place is chosen for aesthetic reasons: so that the equipment is not very “striking” to the eye. From this point of view, a toilet or a bathroom is usually chosen. If space is available, this is the best choice.

How to install a boiler (storage type water heater)

Let's start with mounting on the wall, because that's where it is usually attached. Empty boilers have a solid weight, and even they contain up to 150 liters of water. Therefore, strict requirements are imposed on the mount: they must withstand twice the weight, equal to twice the capacity. That is, if you have a boiler of 80 liters, the fasteners must withstand 160 kg. In this regard, it is mounted only on bases with good bearing capacity on anchors with hooks.

There is a mounting plate on the back wall of the water heater at the top (sometimes there are two of them - at the top and at the bottom). It has slots through which hooks are threaded. Thus, the boiler is hung on the wall. There are two different ways to mark where to drive fasteners:

  • If there are assistants and the space allows you to move relatively freely, you can lean the boiler in the right place against the wall, and then circle the slots.
  • Measure the distance at which the bar is from the top of the water heater, also measure the distance between the centers of the mounting holes. Set aside all these parameters on the wall by finding the necessary points.

One caveat: if you are going to hang the water heater under the ceiling, it is necessary that there is a gap of at least 5 cm from its top to the ceiling. This is necessary so that it can be lifted by putting it on hooks. Otherwise, hanging the boiler will not work.

How to connect the boiler to the water supply

We will proceed from the fact that there is already a cold water supply point, as well as a hot water distribution comb. A little about how to connect the boiler outlets to the hot and cold water pipeline. It is more convenient to use flexible hoses, but not those that are just braided rubber, but flexible ones made of corrugated stainless steel. They also have different lengths, they have union nuts with gaskets at the ends, but their service life and reliability are many times higher. If the boiler hangs over the bathroom and all the connections are in the same place, then even if the hoses burst, nothing threatens you: the water will end up in the bathroom. If not, you can flood the neighbors.

Another option is to use plastic (polypropylene or metal-plastic) pipes. This option is used if hot water is simultaneously distributed to distribution points. Otherwise, it is more convenient to use flexible connectors. Only when using pipes, please note that special pipes are placed on hot water, which are usually marked in red, on pipes for cold water it may not be at all, or it has a blue / blue color.

Now directly about the scheme of connecting the boiler to the water supply. Although modern water heaters are often equipped with automatics, periodically, when heated, a sharp pressure surge occurs, which can lead to a violation of the tightness of the container. To avoid jumps, a cold water inlet is installed. When the threshold value is exceeded, a tap opens in it and some part of the water is bled off, equalizing the pressure. Therefore, when installing the faucet, make sure that the drain outlet (small socket) is directed downwards. If you want your boiler to work for a long time, put this valve in place.

It is convenient if it also has a second function - it also works as a check valve, blocking the outflow of water in the absence of pressure in the system.

If you look at the photo, there is an arrow on the body that shows the direction of water movement. If there is such an arrow, the device also works as a check valve, preventing water from pouring out. If there is no arrow, you will also have to install a check valve (above the safety valve).

For information on what functions the safety valve performs, and how best to install it if it is not located above the bath, see the video.

Another obligatory detail of the scheme is shut-off valves. They are usually placed on a branch from the riser of hot and cold water. These faucets are required. Sometimes they are also placed in front of the security group, but they are no longer mandatory, but serve only for more convenient repairs.

The safety group is a coarse filter and a pressure reducer. If these devices are not at the entrance to the house or apartment, it is very desirable to install them: they extend the life of the water heater.

See the video for an explanation of the boiler connection diagram, and typical errors in connecting to the water supply are also discussed here.

Connecting the boiler to electricity

All manufacturers of water heaters recommend turning on boilers to electricity to a separate line from which a double automatic machine and an RCD are installed. Please note that the automatic machine is necessarily double - that is, one that breaks both phase and zero at the same time. A ground connection is also required. These measures provide security, so they should not be neglected.

Instead of a bunch of RCD + automatic machine, you can put a difavtmat. It will also monitor both leakage current and short circuit, but is made in the same package. A 16 A automatic machine is enough for a medium power boiler, and an RCD leakage current of 10 mA. The cross section of the copper wire (mono-wire) is enough 2.5 mm.

How to install a tankless water heater

As already mentioned, the instantaneous water heater has smaller dimensions, therefore it is easier to find a place for it. It can be hung next to the wall, or you can hide it in a cabinet. Its dimensions are usually 15*20cm*7cm or so. In general, they are small. Weight - from the strength of 3-4 kg, so that the requirements for fasteners are minimal. Usually it is either hung on two dowels of small diameter screwed into the wall, or it has a mounting plate that is screwed to the wall, and the water heater is already hung on it. We figured out how to install a flow-type water heater, now about the connection.

Connecting the instantaneous water heater to the water supply

From this side, everything is simple. But the disadvantage is that it can only supply water to one point at a time. Depending on the installation location, either a shower head with a flexible hose or a gander for washing dishes is placed at the outlet of warm water. It is possible to put both the “gander” and the watering can through the tee (as in the picture on the far right).

In order to be able to remove the water heater if necessary and not shut off the water in the entire apartment or house, ball valves are installed at the inlet and outlet. They are required equipment. The connection from the nozzles to the tie-in point in the cold water supply line is carried out in the same way as when connecting the boiler: with corrugated stainless steel hoses or plastic pipes. Hot water to the point, if necessary, is carried by a flexible hose: in principle, there are no temperatures too high here, so it must withstand.

Another feature of instantaneous water heaters is that they can normally only heat a certain amount of water. With an increase in flow or too low an inlet temperature, they do not cope with the task. Therefore, most often such a water heater is used as a temporary one - in the country or when the hot water supply is turned off for prevention (for the summer).

It is not difficult to solve the problem with an excessive amount of water (when the pressure rises above the norm): either put a reducer at the inlet or a flow restrictor. The reducer is a more serious device and it is recommended to install it at the entrance to the apartment, and the flow restrictor is a small cylinder with a valve. It is screwed onto the cold water inlet. An example of how to install a flow type water heater and where to wind the flow restrictor is in the video.

Electrical connection

With the electrical part of the connection, everything is the same as with the boiler: a dedicated line, RCD + automatic. Others are only ratings and wire cross-section. Rated at power up to 5 kW - 25 A, up to 7 kW - 32 A, from 7 to 9 kW - 40 A. The cross section of the copper wire is 4-6 mm (monofilament).

An electric heater and a boiler are equally in demand today. How to install such equipment will be described in this article. With the help of such a device, you can cope with the problems of turning off hot water. Among other things, such installations can work on an ongoing basis. In a wide range in modern stores, you can find storage or flow-through electric boilers, the latter of which are less in demand, because they are inferior to storage ones in terms of volume and profitability. To install such a device, you can use the services of specialists or cope with the work yourself, but you will need to follow all safety rules. To do this, the electricity is completely turned off, and the hot water pipes are blocked.

Preparation of materials

If you decide to purchase such equipment, you should find out in advance. Of course, doing the work yourself is cheaper. If you refuse the services of professionals, then you should prepare a certain set of materials for installation. You will need either a safety valve, two flexible water hoses, and two dowel-nails. When buying a water hose, you should take into account that you will need two elements, each of which is 2 m long. However, the length will depend on the distance to the tie-in to the water supply system. When buying dowel-nails, it should be noted that there must be hooks at their ends. By the way, about the safety valve. It should be mentioned that it comes with an electric boiler. The valve must have a diameter of 10 mm.

Instrument preparation

So, you need a boiler. How to install such equipment, you should know even before you purchase it. Do you want to do the installation yourself? Good luck! However, it is worth considering that in some cases, if the work is carried out independently, the manufacturer's warranty will be canceled. In addition to materials, certain tools should be prepared, among them: screwdrivers, drills with a victorious tip for attaching to a brick wall, an adjustable wrench and a puncher. The latter can be replaced with an electric drill.

Installation instructions

Many home craftsmen, having learned how much it costs to install a boiler, prefer to do all the work on their own. This is not surprising, given that such services cost about 5,000 rubles. Do you have skills and do you know which side to approach the puncher and how to hold a screwdriver? Then why overpay? But if you do the installation yourself, you will have to prepare properly. Not the last role here is played by the reviews of those people who are not new to doing such a thing. If you study all the recommendations, you can come to the following.

The process should begin by choosing a place to mount in the bathroom or bathroom. Most often, such equipment is installed above the toilet, where it will not interfere with anyone. It is necessary to check the strength of the wall, as it will have to endure the load from the boiler. If there are unreinforced drywall partitions in the room, then you should refrain from installing the unit on them. With a boiler volume of 50 liters or more, a double load will fall on the wall, that is, 100 kg.

Before you install the boiler in the apartment, you should decide on the lowest point of the location of the equipment, marking it on the wall surface. Next, the master measures the distance from the mounting plate to the bottom point. The first is firmly welded to the body of the equipment. The resulting distance must be marked on the wall. The next step is to drill two holes. The craftsmen emphasize that you need to remember that the mounting plate does not have such holes; anchors with a hook at the end should cling to its edge.

So, everything is ready to mount the boiler on the wall. How to install it correctly? The question is by no means idle: the structure must be securely fastened, because the fall of such a massive device can cause injury. If the wall is made of concrete or brick, then for the work of the master it is recommended to use a puncher with a victorious drill. For a wooden wall, a conventional wood drill is used, the diameter of which is smaller than that of a plastic dowel. The latter must be installed in the hole and, if necessary, driven in.

The metal anchor is screwed in until it stops turning. As a rule, a depth of 12 cm is sufficient. The boiler should be hung by hooking the anchor hooks on the bar to fix it on the unit body. On this, the process of hanging the equipment can be considered completed. As you can see, the technology is not very complicated, so any home master can master it. At the next stage, you can connect the boiler to the water supply system, for this you should use flexible hoses.

We connect!

Judging by the reviews, polypropylene pipes can be used instead of flexible hoses, but it will cost more and take more time. There are two tubes at the bottom of the boiler, one of which has a blue plastic ring. Cold water will flow through it. The second tube is indicated in red and is intended for hot water outlet.

According to the craftsmen, in the place where cold water is supplied, a safety valve should be installed. It is usually supplied in the kit or purchased separately. The first step is to attach the relief valve. Do not forget to pre-wrap sanitary flax or sealing tape on the thread.

Masters advise at the next stage to screw one end of the flexible hose onto the safety valve. In this case, you must refuse to use the tape, since there is a rubber gasket in the hose nut that acts as a sealant. Well, the question of how to install a boiler in an apartment is practically solved. The next step is to screw one end of the flexible hose to the pipe from which the hot coolant comes. In this case, sealing tape is also not required.

Now you can start connecting the free ends of the hoses. The end to which cold water will flow should be connected to the water pipe. A valve or tap must first be installed at this place, which will, if necessary, shut off the fluid supply. Do not neglect this recommendation, as the boiler may fail during operation or require replacement of spare parts. The free end of the other hose must be connected to the pipe that goes to the faucet.

In principle, it is not difficult to install a water boiler on your own. You just need to arm yourself with certain knowledge (in addition to tools and materials). And there are many nuances in such a case. In particular, before connecting the unit, it is necessary to remove the tees on the water pipes. In the absence of certain experience, it is better to entrust this work to professionals. Now you can do the electrical part. If we are talking about Thermex brand water heaters, then they have one feature, which is the presence of a cable for connection along with a plug in the kit. Moreover, this element is connected to the boiler. If this is not the case, then consumables will have to be purchased separately.

And further. In order for everything to go without a hitch without a hitch (read - without accidents), the masters strongly recommend observing safety precautions when working with electricity.

What else needs to be considered when carrying out work

If you are faced with the question of how to properly install the boiler, then you should know that you do not have to open the lid if everything is already connected in the equipment. It is enough to install a grounded socket in advance, which should be located near the equipment. You should turn on the cold water tap to check how tight and secure the connection is. If there are no leaks, the boiler plug can be connected to the outlet. Now you know how to install. If you did everything correctly, then the indicator on the case should light up. After that, you can set a certain temperature using the regulator, which is usually located at the bottom.

Conclusion

It is important to remember the main mistakes that are made when connecting the equipment described in the article. In particular, before installing a boiler in the bathroom, the masters recommend taking care of the presence of a circulation system. This will minimize energy losses if hot water is constantly in the pipes.
